Chapter 2: Why us?

[Year 2025, India, Kerala]

~After Abhirami awoke her powers and defeated the first wave of monsters, Swen got resurrected from his mysterious time power curse, and everyone was shocked~

“Man, staying dead is hard. Why y’all looking at me, am I naked or something and why is everything turning daaarrk?” Swen said while fainting from exhaustion.

Kishore ran over to Swen and sprayed water on his face, saying dude, “wake up! “Okay, my body hurts like I’ve been working out for hours ~ow~ my back, Swen dizzily says before passing out again.

~Smack~

Kishore smacking Swen’s face and Barked, “Don’t u dare die on us, you Sadist! Not before giving me the money you owe me, and we have exams tomorrow” Swen started snoring, making Kishore beat him up again.

~meanwhile~

Abhiram—now Abhirami—was confused about how to balance her new body is confused how to balance her new body while escaping the ogling eyes from boys who were her friends.

“Stop, looking at me like that, ya’ll. I am still man if you don’t stop do it I will punch your nuts out, I exclaimed, but Kishore threw it back by saying “Ya, A man with baggage”

~Suddenly we heard someone shouting from the first floor~

“G-GUYS. THERE IS ANOTHER WAVE, MORE MONSTERS”

We rushed down to see Amal one of our class tease victim and buffoon, teleporting from the Treat shop to us, saying while chugging stolen Treats down his throat, “MO-Monsters rampaging towards the school from the rubber estate”

Swen, still sluggish decides to make things worse by saying “Great, you got teleportation, I can do it too,” creating a portal in the rubber estate. Before anyone could say anything that idiot created a portal from the rubber estate to the school gate. He passed out — Again, out of exhaustion after using his powers. The Portal wasn’t closing; rather, it stayed open, and monsters started coming through it instead of the long route through the estate.

Deathstone created more Golems as a barricade and tried to block the gate to slow down the monsters.

~Monsters started swarming on top of the Golems, and the Golems’ flames started incinerating the mindless beasts and the beasts, like elves and goblins, kept their distance. The elves aimed their bow, chanting incantations on it, making a rain of fire.~

~Gulp~

“Take cover, idiots, if you don’t wanna die”, Nithin barked. Then Amal says, “What if I teleport all those arrows away from us?” and starts glowing in a purple aura trying his best to teleport them.

~Amal, looking at the flaming arrows, tried to stop them by teleporting them all, but he couldn’t; rather, he floated most of the falling arrows by telekinesis, but he was getting thirsty from the arrows he held with his mind.~

Kishore tells “Idiot, you need direct contact with the object to teleport, and you look like a husk right now for a man who drank 5 bottles of Treats”, and proceeds to chew on mints, but when he breathed, frosty fog came out of his mouth, freezing everything it touches.

Livingstone exclaims, “I thought you had smoke screen power, not frost breath!” Kishore extinguished all the fire from the arrows, and Amal threw them back the the elves and Amal and Kishore sprinted to the water filter, opened the tap, and lay under it ~Shee~ t-tt-too c-cold and took out a chilly out of his bag and ate it.

When Kishore tried to use his frostbreath again, it didn’t work he tried to freeze Swen but all that came out was his bad breath, which awakened Swen.

“Dude, go brush or something” Swen says while trying to barf. “Says the person who hasn’t taken a bath since last week” Abhirami snorts.

The class looked out, seeing the piles of monster corpses, and asked each other, “Are our parents safe?” and “When are we gonna go home?” Then everyone looked at Amal and Swen, the only people who could manipulate space, saying to raid the store bc they needed food for the night. Swen reluctantly creates a portal and drags Kishore and Abhirami with him, and Amal already teleports down there, waving at the school, showing it’s safe.

~While they raided, Swen opened up a small portal to a personal four-dimensional space to use as an inventory and seeing this, Amal took a packet of crackers and teleported it to a 4 dimensional space and summoned it back, then sent it back again. Kishore smacked his head, looked for cumin and chillies, and Swen changed his sling bag into a 4-dimensional space vessel because he is his best friend after all.~

“Guys, do we need the spices?” Amal asks, Swen replies by saying, “Yes, we need them, they can also be used to preserve food and meat. Also, I think this much is enough, let’s go back”

Kishore asks, “What about these corpses are they gonna get rotten and smelly?, We could either freeze them or cremate them, and “What‘s with these human-like ones? What are they?”

Amal says with a proud face, “They are elves, they are beings that are blessed by the nature and have pointy ears, great aim, limitless man”, and almost immortal.

Kishore deadpanned, saying, “So basically better humans” Swen says, “No, but also yes, bc they are just reformed demons who lived in the nature so long they started to become one with it, and dark elves are another case, they are descendants of elves and demons, that’s why they are more hated in their race”

~portals swirled big enough for a car to fit through~

“Let’s get moving before more monsters come”, Kishore barked at us,amal teleported to the school, holding a box full of Treats and Kishore stepped through the portal. Swen decides to check the store one more time.

~Swen started closing the rift and moved food and drinks to school. When everyone entered the school, Swen saw an elf child, a dark elf girl with black hair with a pluck of silver, eyes closed, sleeping beside the sacs. ~

He looked outside and saw the corpses of elves they killed, and she was still a child. Swen went close to her, held his hand out and carried her secretly to the school, clutching the child, keeping her hidden from his friends.

It’s Morris here. This chapter took an entire week to finish and finalise i had to talk to my friends about their power and guess what most of them said i choose thier power others said to give them a overpowered power without any weakness, that’s the only reason there’s no new characters this chap and the elf girl is a new character who is alo the mascot of the story. And don’t get me started with Abhiram, we had argued a lot bc I made him a girl in this, and I “tried” to ask my female classmate mate I could add them in the story, bc as u can see, there is no female character except for Abhirami and now the elf girl. and failed every time they looked at me, my voice didn’t go out of my throat (pray for me).

Man, I said a lot today. See u next week, guys. Also, spoiler next chapter is about how and where they got their powers in the first chapter, and who the elf girl is?.
