Prologue

He had watched for six thousand years. Watched the rise of tribes, empires, democracies. 

The one thing that was asked by the weak was the desire for equality, yet it became clear that those who asked for it didn't truly want it, but to be the ones who are strong, who are powerful. Once they became the powerful, rarely did humans give away their position for equality, even if they believed as such before they got their power. They built systems — democracy, law, religion — not to share power, but to disguise its hoarding. He had given them minds, but not enough wisdom to choose for the whole. And so even their best intentions collapsed.

Looking down at one of these creatures, it saw our young protagonist - Takeuchi Kei. A young girl who, through no fault of her own, is forced to go into poverty. Her father's gambling addiction caused her household to be destroyed. She owns nothing except the debts her father leaves her as he passes away in this hospital. If the start of a person's life is like this, how can this society claim to be just? How can it claim to love thy neighbor? Have its teachings gone to nothing?

Then this being had an idea. What if this girl were given power to change her fate? What if it was a power that helped her more the worse her life is? And what if her powers disappear as soon as her life becomes good enough for her to live? What if this was applied to everyone? Would that achieve the equality that is desired by many? If having wealth means losing this magical power that I will gift them, the world itself should no longer have people desiring for immaterial goods. And then he said:

"I've created this entire world in 6 days. It shouldn't be too difficult to change one part of the power system of this world. Perhaps doing something like this once in a while will make those atheists believe in me. Now... let there be... The Great Equalizer."
