Chapter 22:
Blades of the Shattered Chaplets: 4th Novel
Azelth: “As you can see, the scripts are never wrong. They show the truth of the future.”
Kazuki walked towards Azelth, towering over him, lowering himself to be face to face and smiled saying, “Now, why would you lie to someone like that?”
Tairen and Rynjuro opened their eyes behind them in shock as if they didn’t expect Kazuki to call Azelth out, but Azelth remained stonefaced.
Kazuki: “I see. I do not get mad at people. Please do not be afraid. I am just puzzled and am questioning the lie that you just told. Please try to tell the truth.”
Kazuki was still injured from King’s wound, but with his strength, he was still substantially stronger than everyone in the room combined. ‘He could still probably battle every Great Swordsman and still win at this moment. This man is a monster,’ Astro thought.
Azelth: “The scripts do not lie. I do not know why you question this.”
Kazuki: “Hmm, it seems maybe you do not know yourself. Maybe you are telling the truth then on your own merit. Ahh, sorry, sorry. I hate to break it to you, but your scripts are based on previous knowledge. Yes, they are accurate, but they represent truths that can be broken. You see, you say that I will lose to the upcoming creatures. Unfortunately, that is not true.”
Azelth: “I believe that is your pride talking. Our scripts are never incorrect. You will lose, Kazuki Alcion.”
Kazuki: “Then I will be reborn until evil is defeated. However, I will not lose. I think I understand who you three are. Anyways, I have to get going. People need my help. I will not let them down. Oh, and next time you want to try to lie multiple times, you have to make it more convincing. The papers on the scripts are different.”
He walked away waving his hand goodbye to them while Azelth whispered something that he couldn’t hear.
Azelth: “Tch, big bastard.”
Astro: “What is their deal? I came here before and they seemed fine. Did you piss them off?”
Kazuki: “No, they just claim that they are neutral beings, however they are not. You said you were here before? Whatever advice they gave you, do not listen to them. They are the followers of God. They only wish to bring his wrath down once more. They are afraid and do not want me to fight, so that was their attempt at stopping me. He couldn’t even avoid my Thinker Chaplet, but I made it seem like he did.”
Astro: “Hmm, there’s too much going on right now. Let’s just kill everyone and get this over with. I need those kids back.”
Kazuki: “Well, it looks like we aren’t going to have to go much further. I sense something up ahead. A man and a young boy fighting against that creature. Shall we join them?”
Astro: “Yeah, let’s get going.”

Kaibo was not in control of himself, going village to village and killing innocent people. Men, women, kids, animals, and anything in his path. He rapidly was wiping out villages, decreasing the population heavily.
However, even had he not done this, people were beginning to starve from the decline in animal population. Kaibo did not know this though. He was avenging his family by killing everyone in this world via Michiaki Sen releasing him from his chambers.
Thousands of people were being killed in a matter of 15 seconds. He was too strong, especially having not fought for many years. Families were just enjoying themselves at the parks, in the fields, or people that were arguing and fighting were suddenly killed by Kaibo, wreaking havoc in society.
Iki Ritus could not do anything at the moment.
Nobody could.
He got to the town of Ronkon, Astro’s village where Kanji Adachi was about to leave, having fixed up the village enough to be stable on their own.
When he walked out the door of his small hut, he saw people lying on the floor covered in blood in the town. People he cared for, nurtured, and helped. The little girl that he gave an apple to was closest to him. He ran to her and began to cry for her. She was still alive and grasping for air, reaching out towards Kanji saying, “Th-Thank y-you, Mr. K-Kanji.”
It was her last words before she perished right in front of him. He activated his vision to see who was doing this. They had bypassed him with their speed and he could not see them. He didn’t question it, but ran back to the hut. When he opened the door, he was stabbed with a sword through his torso.
Kaibo: “Hey there.”
Kanji: “H-Huh?”
He dropped to the floor, panting for air immediately.
Kanji was pissed beyond belief and got up right away regardless.
Kanji: “What did you do?!”
He screamed out and coughed up blood looking like a maniac killer. “Oh, I like that look in your eyes,” Kaibo said. “It reminds me of my old self. I’m a little more humble now, but I like it.”
Kanji: “I’m gonna fucking kill you!”
Kaibo: “Is that so?”
Kanji’s right arm fell to the ground before he could even move his finger a centimeter. “What’s wrong? I thought you said you’d fucking kill me?”
He dropped to the ground now coughing up more blood than before. He didn’t know what to do. He looked at the man who sat on top of him, looking at him with the deadest eyes he had ever seen. He panted as he spoke.
Kanji: “I-I don’t know who you are. Why? Why would you do this?”
Kaibo: “Hmm, I have my reasons.”
Kanji: “T-Tell me. I don’t care anymore who you are. A-Answer one question for me. If I’m going to perish, then I want to know. I-If you had to choose, w-would you eat an apple or o-one with a bite t-taken out of it.”
Kaibo: “Wow, that is your final question? That made me shake how stupid it was.”
Kanji: “Y-Yes. Tell me. I-I want to know.”
Kaibo: “Stupid people in every era. The regular apple you fool.”
He stabbed Kanji again in multiple spots with his sword this time, resulting in Kanji beginning to fade away. In his life, he tried to answer one question that he did not know, and he still did not know, but in this moment he thought to himself, ‘Okay. I guess if I get another life maybe I can answer it. Even with my knowledge, I seemed to waver in my answer. I saw it in some people, but then they lost it. Sometimes I didn’t see it at all. And sometimes I saw people try, but fail. I’ll be watching from above, Astro and Welpen. You two are the closest to it. Show me. Show me people can change. For in this life, I have come to the assumption…People cannot change.’
His final thoughts faded as Kaibo hovered a sword over his head and his vision went blank…
Ezra: “I-I’m sorry, Kanji. I could not help you. At this moment, I’m restrained to my realm. I guess this was a bad time to try and regain my strength for the upcoming fight. I cannot apologize enough.”
Kanji: “Ahh, so I am…dead. I see.”
Ezra started to cry and explained over and over again how sorry she was and that she wouldn’t have been able to defeat that man regardless unless she had the full strength of her realm. Kanji did not look upset, but just stagnant. He pondered what it meant to change in his mind. Looking at Ezra, he tried to understand her change. Her sacrifice. Her purpose.
She was a well known figure and helped many people, however he could not even see the change in her. It was obvious that she did not help him in this situation and did not abandon her mindset to help him, although with her sword, it would not allow her anyways. He did not mind, and did not take it against her, but he questioned change again, which pissed him off.
He thought, ‘Why? Why can’t I perish with the mindset I had? Why must I be confined to a realm where I have to question change even more? Was I wrong? Was I right? Which is it? Astro, Welpen…I’ll be watching. When I’m satisfied, I’ll have Ezra erase me from existence. If you two cannot change, then I’ll have my answer.’
