Chapter 24:

A Change of Leadership

Blades of the Shattered Chaplets: 4th Novel

Kento, Yasuhiro, Kouki, and Agatha immediately used a Yellow Egress Chaplet to get to Astro since they sensed that’s where Kazuki was, but when they got there, it was just him along with Aelig and the young boy that they did not know. Questioning where Kazuki was, Astro explained what had happened and who these people were, also asking where everyone else was.

Both parties explained their parts, but Aelig and Kyuma did not care. They were discussing something and then turned towards the group.

Aelig: “This is something that you must learn as well, my young pupil. Although you want to fight that woman, it will not end fairly. You must seek opponents that yearn to kill you or else you won’t use your full strength. Practice fights are for losers. Holding back on someone is never good. You must always seek to get better. Come now, off we go.”

They used a Yellow Egress Chaplet, teleporting elsewhere while Astro discussed what to do next. Without Kazuki, they didn’t know. They needed to find Lucky, and someone that had the ability to do this was Octavious Iji.

Reiken had returned to his land since, followed by a few selected by Henry and Mugen. Totaling 20, Mugen had gathered people with wealth to come to Reiken’s land. Meanwhile, the Royal City was being destroyed by large flying ships from familiar foes that the Great Swordsmen had faced before.

Bombs flew over, destroying Mugen’s city and his leadership, along with the civilians inside. Mugen had not told anyone about this, knowing that this enemy would approach. Rumors that they faced The Association spread, and it was only a matter of time that they would come back. Mugen purposely signaled for them to attack the city, as he lowered the barrier, killing his own people.

Thousands perished in a blazing flame that engulfed everything.

Mugen looked onward, focusing on Reiken’s plan and his plan only. He could no longer obtain all 70 Chaplets, but could obtain his true goal with the help of Reiken.

Henry asked Mugen what the truth was, not knowing why any of this had happened. He didn’t question it before, nor did he really care about any of the civilians. He said, “You know I’m loyal to you boss. I just wanna know what the gameplan is. Who do I have to kill?”

Mugen: “I’ll tell you Henry. This man…He is building a spatial barrier so large that nothing can enter. He would not let me bring everyone though. I could only bring these men, you included.”

He said this loud enough for a few to hear, but then stopped, activated a Tone Chaplet and talked to Henry in his head. “Listen to me, Henry. This man has informed me that the Lost Chaplet is real. One of his men has seen it. We are going to look for it. I don’t mind this man’s plan, but I’d rather obtain this myself. Nobody really knows what it does, but it must be powerful. It is in the form of a young boy in a white suit. Go. Try to find him. If we can find him, we can create our own realm. Swords can no longer protect us. We need the Chaplets' powers.”

Henry darted off as the rest of them headed inside Reiken’s homeland. Mugen remained calm as a leader, not showing his true intentions. Although they weren’t against Reiken, Reiken was a dangerous man. He could easily tell and did not know what he was thinking. If it came down to it, he would kill him if he had to, but for now, he played the part, and hoped that Reiken would not turn on them.
