Chapter 8:
The Master of Heroes
The battlefield was shaking. The air smelled like smoke, dust, and burning rocks. The giant monster, who had reached his second stage, stood towering over all of us. His body was harder than stone, his eyes were dark like a black hole, and his roar echoed across the broken town.
Everyone tried their best.
Ayon kept attacking with electric shocks.
Basant created more and more soldiers—steel soldiers, rock soldiers, even armored soldiers—but the monster crushed them all like toys.
Serdihun and Alir were throwing fireballs together, trying to burn the monster, but their flames did nothing.
Ram Sir shouted,
“Students! We must find the monster’s weak spot! Keep attacking until we learn something!”
But nothing worked.
I—Hero Kemp—stood quietly for a moment, trying to think. I kept watching the monster’s movements, scanning its body with my helmet sensors, hoping to find even a small weakness.
While everyone was fighting, Serdihun Rongchehonpi was staring at me. Her eyes were soft and gentle, full of warmth. She was slowly falling in love, but she didn’t even realize it yet. She only felt that something about Hero Kemp was special.
I ignored that feeling for now. A monster needed to be defeated.
I touched the side of my helmet.
Hero Kemp:
“Computer… did you find anything? Any weak point? Any way to defeat this monster?”
There was a tense silence.
Then—
Computer:
“Sir… I found something.”
My heart jumped.
Finally.
Hero Kemp:
“What is it?”
Computer:
“Sir, can you see the bright glowing stone on his head?”
I zoomed the helmet camera.
A shining stone… bright white and blue… pulsing with light.
Hero Kemp:
“Yes. I see it.”
Computer:
“That stone is his weak point. Destroy it, and the monster will disappear.”
A smile formed under my mask.
Hero Kemp:
“Finally… a way to beat him.”
Serdihun Rongchehonpi was still looking at me with admiration. Before she could turn away, I walked straight toward her.
She blinked in surprise.
Hero Kemp:
“Serdihun Rongchehonpi? That is your name… right?”
She answered in the sweetest voice:
Serdihun 2:
“Yes…”
Her cheeks turned slightly red.
Hero Kemp:
“Serdihun… I need your help. Will you help me defeat this monster?”
She placed her hand on her chest and nodded.
Serdihun 2:
“Always. I will help you.”
Her voice was soft but full of determination.
Hero Kemp:
“Good. Listen carefully. Break one of those large building pillars. Lift it. I will carry you into the sky near the monster’s head.”
I pointed at the glowing stone.
Hero Kemp:
“See that bright stone? That is the weak point. Throw the pillar at it with all your strength.”
Serdihun 2:
“Yes. I understand. I am ready.”
She ran toward a half-broken building.
With one punch—
CRACK!
She broke a huge pillar loose.
She lifted it above her head like it weighed nothing.
I ran toward her, grabbed her waist, and lifted her into the sky. We flew up high, closer to the monster’s enormous head.
Wind blew through her hair.
She held the pillar tightly.
Hero Kemp:
“Serdihun! Now! Throw it—straight at the stone!”
She focused, aimed, and shouted:
Serdihun 2:
“HAAAH!”
The pillar flew like a missile.
CRAAASSSHHH!!!
It struck the glowing stone.
The monster screamed in pain—
A loud, terrible roar that shook the sky.
Light burst from the stone.
His body began to fade…
Disappear…
Piece by piece…
Ram Sir shouted in happiness.
Ram Sir:
“Yes! It worked!”
Ayon and Basant yelled together:
“Great!!”
Alir and Serdihun jumped in excitement.
“Good job!”
The monster vanished completely, dissolving into bright light.
I slowly landed on the ground holding Serdihun 2 safely. Her feet touched the ground gently.
Everyone rushed toward us, cheering.
Ram Sir walked closer.
Ram Sir:
“Thank you, Hero Kemp… for helping us win.”
I shook my head.
Hero Kemp:
“Sir… the real credit goes to Serdihun Rongchehonpi. Without her strength, this monster could not be defeated.”
Ram Sir smiled proudly.
Ram Sir:
“Yes. Real thanks to Serdihun. She deserves a high rank. I will personally request the head teacher to give her a top-ranking position.”
Serdihun 2 smiled brightly.
Serdihun 2:
“Thank you, sir…”
Alir and Serdihun jumped forward.
Alir & Serdihun:
“Sir, what about us?!”
Ram Sir nodded dramatically.
Ram Sir:
“You two also… will get a high rank…”
They cheered like monkeys getting bananas.
Then suddenly—
Ram Sir:
“…But next year.”
Their faces immediately dropped like sad puppies who didn’t get food.
Everyone laughed.
Ayon waved one last time.
Ayon:
“Bye sir. I have another important job.”
Basant nodded.
“Sir, we should leave. Training work is waiting for us.”
Ram Sir lifted his hand.
“Goodbye students. Rest well. See you tomorrow.”
One by one, everyone began leaving.
Then Something Unexpected HappenedAs I prepared to fly away—
I heard footsteps.
Before I could react—
Serdihun Rongchehonpi hugged me from behind.
A soft, warm hug full of emotion.
Her voice trembled:
“Thank you for saving me…
And thank you for giving me a chance to achieve a high rank…
Because of you…
Hero Kemp…
Will you… be my male friend?”
My heart exploded in panic.
Me—Buddhist—being hugged by a girl I secretly liked…
But she didn’t know it was me.
I swallowed hard.
Hero Kemp:
“Y-Yes… now please let go… I have to go. Bye!”
I shot into the sky faster than a rocket.
Serdihun 2 watched me disappear, holding her hands together.
Later… Each in Their Own Home Buddhist’s HomeI walked into my house, exhausted.
Buddhist:
“Ohh… I’m tired. Let’s go to the lab.”
I pressed the hidden button on the mirror.
The secret door opened.
I placed the glowing monster-stone onto the scanning table.
Machines began scanning the stone.
I looked at my Hero Kemp suit—
Little damaged.
My mind replayed her voice:
“Do you be my male friend?”
I touched my chest.
Buddhist:
“Serdihun… I think… I like you…”
She fell back onto her bed, hugging her pillow.
Serdihun 2:
“I’m so tired…
Hero Kemp… he’s so handsome…
The way he fights…
The way he saved me…
I think… I love him…”
She covered her face.
Serdihun 2:
“No… yes… no… ahhh I don’t know what’s happening to me…”
Her heart beat fast.
She whispered softly:
“Hero Kemp…”
And smiled.
