Chapter 42:
Betray
He ran toward the pirates with all his power. “I won’t lose!” he shouted.
But then… he lost. Mateo was there, holding him with chains.
Mateo said to his crew, “Go back to the ship. I’ll return with Jone.”
Mateo dragged Jone along. “Try walking now,” he said, tightening the chains.
Jone thought to himself, He moved too fast… Did he use Anti-magic chains?
He remembered the fight. “I was doing well… I punched one pirate… and many ran away… Everything slowed down… I was at my greatest power… And then”
Jone muttered, Mateo is holding chains…
He thought about it a long ago. “Some hundreds of years ago… There were 136 wizard kings at the same time. But one opposed the one kicked out of Heaven for disobedience. His name… Iblis.”
Iblis… Jone whispered. “He hated God. He said he would make humans the most sinful creatures.”
He continued, Long ago… before humans, God made ghosts. Many life forms existed… When the era of ghosts came, they looked up to their creator. Then the first human was made. All angels were supposed to kneel… but one angel did not. His name was Iblis.
“Iblis said, ‘I will not bow to a human. I am made of fire… he is made of mud.’”
“God told him, ‘Never set foot in Heaven again.’” Jone thought.
“And then Iblis said, ‘Give me two things: the ability to whisper to anyone, anywhere, and permission to take humans into sin.’”
God said yes…
Jone remembered. “The first human was given a woman, made from his chest. They were told to do nothing for no reason.”
“And there were two animals: a peacock and a snake,” Jone said. “Peacocks had beautiful tails; snakes did not have poison, they had perfume.”
“One day, the snake and peacock hunted outside Heaven. Iblis was around… He took a shape to deceive the animals.”
Jone continued, “The devil told the snake, ‘Let me in.’ The snake said, ‘I know who you are. One of the most knowledgeable, defying God?’”
“Iblis said, ‘No, it’s something else.’”
“The snake asked, ‘What will you offer humans?’ The peacock asked, ‘And me?’”
“Iblis said, ‘I will give you more.’ The peacock said, ‘No… something that makes me proud.’”
“Iblis said, ‘I will give a third eye on your back, you’ll see yourself.’”
The peacock said, “No… that will make me look ugly!”
Iblis said, “The eye will not be visible to anyone else.”
The peacock sighed, “I’m bored… fine.”
“The snake asked, ‘What about me?’”
“Iblis said, ‘Flight… and speech.’ Both agreed. The snake let Iblis inside. The peacock carried the snake on its back into Heaven.”
“The snake said, ‘Do you want to come out?’” Jone remembered.
“Iblis said, ‘Not now… I need to do something first.’”
“The snake went into the tree, which humans were not allowed to enter. The first human and woman sat nearby. The snake told them, ‘Eat this… it’s called an apple.’”
“They ate it… and were kicked out of Heaven,” Jone said. “The peacock and snake were exiled too. The snake made itself a mountain. Some humans made contracts with the devil. That’s how Anti-magic began.”
