Chapter 0:

The Beginning

After Being Curse, I Return Back To My Destroyed Village To Rebuilt It From Zero

*RINNNNGGGG*,
"ATTENTION! A GATE OUTBREAK HAS BEEN DETECTED!"
"ALL CIVILIANS, PLEASE HEAD TOWARDS YOUR NEAREST EVACUATION SHELTER!"
"ALL ADVENTURERS REPORT TO YOUR TEMPORALLY ASSIGNED TEAM LEADER!"

Gates, a common trope in manga & anime in which a portal connects our world to another world filled with monsters, continues to plague humanity as we begin to recover from their appearance 3 years ago, following a series of phenomena.

On April 17th, 2032, Earth was struck by a spontaneous Solar Eruption that caused a worldwide electrical outage lasting three seconds, along with an aurora that lasted a whole day. This event would later be dubbed as The Sun's Burp, as there were no early detections or warnings of this Solar Eruption by any Space Organization until it had reached Earth.

On April 19th, 2032, shortly after the aurora had disappeared from the sky, people all over the world began to report hearing the sound of glass grinding, followed by a loud glass-shattering sound. At this moment, Blue Portals, later called Gates, started to appear in the middle of cities, schools, and even homes. Naturally, people's curiosity got the best of them as they attempted to enter the Gates by touching them, only to be sent flying backwards into the air.

Over the next few days, as if in response to the Gates, people all over the world began waking up to abnormal changes in their bodies, from incredible strength that allowed them to lift cars to running around a race track in a single minute without any prior training. Within a single week, approximately 1% of the world's population had undergone this abnormal change, which later came to be known as Awakening.

On April 27th, 2032, the entire world reeled in pain as a high-pitched sound began echoing across the globe. The high-pitched sound shattered windows, ruptured eardrums, and even knocked a few million people unconscious. Those who were Awakened received a high-pitched sound as a warning message, "Prepare for Battle", along with a transparent blue screen appearing in front of them. All Awakened individuals were given what we call a Status Board, which provided basic information like name & age, along with a Class like Swordsman or Mage, and a Skills List.

As people worldwide began to pick themselves back up, screams followed as the Gate opened and monsters flooded into the world. Military forces around the globe started deploying countermeasures against these monsters, but no matter how many were killed, they kept coming. Within hours, towns & cities fell as they were overrun, and humanity began to truly understand what it meant to be cornered as prey instead of a predator.

Over time, the number of people awakening began to increase, and by the end of 2032, the scale tipped in our favour again as we started our push to recover our homes. It wasn't until mid-2033, after losing 27% of our population, that we entered a stable period, allowing us to begin rebuilding civilization.

To manage the Awakens, later called Adventurers, the United Nations created the Adventurer Association to help manage the Gates & prevent Gate Outbreaks, a phenomenon in which monsters are allowed to enter our world if the Gate Boss is not defeated within a specific time span.

In Japan, there are a total of 10 Adventurer Association Branches located in Sapporo, Moriko, Sendai, Toyama, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima, Kochi, and Kumamoto, where all Gate & Dungeon-related issues are reported. At the top of each of these branches are S-Rank Adventurers who were hand-picked by Japan's Representative of Adventurer Association, Kōji Itō, one of the few remaining people to awaken first, who now reports directly to the Prime Minister.

Nowadays, Adventurers are continuing their work as they enter Gates to hunt monsters and seek out treasures.
