PROLOGUE: This is how it all starts
VEN (V.O.)(calm, slightly weary)Hi everyone. I am Ven. I can't say my full name—trust me, it’s safer that way. You might have come here because of that weird title, right? "My Worst Horoscope." Sounds like a bad joke. But my story... it’s kind of complex, yet simple too. It actually should have been called Fate, but that title was overused, so I'll simply put it: My Worst Horoscope. Where should I begin? Ah, right. It all started on day one. Literally.
[SCENE 1: THE BIRTHDAY]
Location: Ven’s Village — The Family HomeTime: 16 Years Ago
The house buzzes with noise. It is a warm, rustic village home, packed wall-to-wall with relatives. Uncles, aunts, and cousins squeeze in to see the newborn. Among them is Kai, Ven’s cousin — a toddler barely able to stand, clinging to his mother’s leg.
The air grows silent as the heavy wooden doors open. Ven’s parents have invited the High Priest of Nanatsu no Oka no Kami (the God of Seven Hills).
The Priest, an elderly man whose eyes have seen too much, approaches the crib. He reaches down, his weathered hands gently lifting baby Ven.
The moment the Priest's skin touches Ven, his face goes pale. His eyes widen, locking onto an invisible spot over Ven’s shoulder.
(SFX: a chilling, subtle high-pitched whisper, quickly fading.)
He quickly — almost roughly — puts Ven back into the crib.
The Priest turns to Ven’s parents. They notice the change in his demeanour instantly.
PRIESTI need to talk with you both. Outside. Now.
[CUT TO: OUTSIDE THE HOUSE]
The parents and the Priest stand under a large tree. The happy noise from inside the house is a muffled hum.
PRIESTPlease listen carefully. Don't panic... but I cannot lie. Your son's life will be in danger.
Ven’s mother gasps, clutching her husband’s arm. Her face mirrors the Priest's paleness.
VEN’S FATHERDanger? He is a baby! Why?
PRIESTIt is the star he was born under. The alignment... it is cursed. Evil forces will come for him. They will hunt him.
VEN’S MOTHER(crying)What... what can we do? How do we save our son?
PRIEST(shaking his head)I cannot save him. It is in your son's hands. He must save himself. However... there is one thing we can do to give him a fighting chance.
(The camera pulls back slightly. Ven’s uncle and aunt hold Ven and Kai, rocking them softly, oblivious to the conversation.)
The Priest turns and looks toward them, his gaze fixed on Ven and Kai. Ven is holding Kai's tiny hand.
PRIESTAs you know, the Temple of Nanatsu no Oka no Kami runs an academy. It trains priests and scholars. You must enroll your son there as soon as he is of age. I will teach him how to shield himself.
VEN’S FATHERWe will do it. Anything.
PRIESTAnd not just him. You must enroll his cousin, Kai, as well.
Ven’s aunt steps forward, holding Kai protectively.
VEN’S AUNTBut why Kai too? Is he in danger?
PRIESTTheir fates are knotted together. I saw it when their skin touched. They will be lifelong friends. Kai was born under a star dangerously close to Ven’s. He, too, may face the danger. If they are to survive, they must face the darkness together.
VEN (V.O.)And that is how everything began. Whether it was for our best or our worst... only time would tell.
[SCENE 2: THE TEMPLE COURTYARD]
Location: Temple of Nanatsu no Oka no Kami
[MONTAGE START]
AGE 5 — Ven and Kai run up the stone steps of the temple.
AGE 6 — Ven and Kai recite sacred texts by candlelight while others sleep.
AGE 8 — Meditation and discipline. Training grows harder.
Ven and Kai, now young boys, scrub the temple floors.
They sit in a classroom, reciting sacred texts while others slumber.The Priest walks between them, correcting posture during meditation.
(Slow pan over various sacred chantings and the stories of Nanatsu no Oka no Kami written on ancient scrolls.)
[MONTAGE END]
[SCENE 3: UNDER THE TREE]
EXT. Temple inner courtyard — Age 8
Ven and Kai sit under a large, sacred tree. The Priest sits opposite them. This is a private lesson.
PRIEST (MASTER)(softly, gravely)Anger is one's own enemy; calmness is one's own shield.
The boys watch him intently.
PRIEST (MASTER):So, Ven and Kai, whatever situations you find yourselves in, don't lose yourselves. Make decisions calmly. And don't ever forget Nanatsu no Oka no Kami (god of seven hills). No matter what happens, He will be the one who saves everyone.
Ven and Kai immediately join hands and nod, looking serious for their age.
VEN & KAIYes, Master!
VEN (V.O.):So, as you can see, our childhood wasn’t like everyone else’s. We studied like other kids, but we also learned the teachings of the temple.
VEN (V.O.)And then... we finally decided to leave the village and study in the city.
[SCENE 4: THE SHIP]
Location: The Great Sea — en route to DaitōshiTime: Present day (teenage years)
The ocean is a vast sheet of sapphire blue. A large transport ship cuts through the waves toward the horizon.
Ven and Kai, now teenagers, stand at the prow of the ship. Wind whips at their clothes.
KAI(grinning)Look at that view! We’re getting close to the metropolis, bro. Are you ready?
VENReady? As always.
All of a sudden, their respective talismans react.
(Close up on Ven's amulet: a golden necklace with the face and divine symbols of Nanatsu no Oka no Kami.)
(Close up on Kai's armlet: a thick golden band with the same face and symbols.)
VENWhoa...
KAI(rubbing his arm)Uhh... did you just see that, or am I imagining things?
VENYeah... maybe it's just the sunlight reflecting off them.
Ven grabs the amulet, staring at the intricate carving of the deity. A memory flashes unbidden.
[FLASHBACK]
The Priest places the amulet and armlet on their neck and wrist.
PRIEST :You both should never remove these. At all costs. Wear them until you grow old. These will protect you both.
[END FLASHBACK]
VEN:(thinking)What was Master warning us about all those years ago?
Ven shakes his head and looks back out at the sea, staring into the vast, endless horizon.
[SCENE 5: THE DEMON'S AWAKENING]
Location: A remote, foggy island
The camera pans rapidly away from the ship, flying over miles of ocean, reaching a desolate, jagged island.
Deep within a sealed cave, shadows writhe and churn.
FEMALE VOICE(echoing from the dark)The time has arrived. He is here.
MALE VOICE:Give me a chance, Princess. I will bring you what you want.
FEMALE VOICE:I want that boy's soul. Before the lunar eclipse. Do not fail me.
MALE VOICEAs you wish.
Suddenly, the darkness inside the cave surges. Hundreds of demons slam their energy against the sealed rock entrance simultaneously.
BOOM.
The rock cracks. Dust falls. The boulder trembles.
A thick, dark smoke hisses from the fissure. It swirls and coalesces into a terrifying, humanoid form — the Demon of Darkness.
DEMON OF DARKNESSI will bring his soul for you, my Princess!
[SPLIT SCREEN EFFECT]
LEFT SIDE — The Demon of Darkness screeches; its eyes glow red.RIGHT SIDE — Ven and Kai on the ship, looking down at their glowing amulet and armlet of Nanatsu no Oka no Kami.
Ven stares at the face of God of seven hills on his amulet. The Demon’s eyes glow with malevolent intent, staring across the sea.
VEN (V.O.)(voice now firm, accepting)This is where the story begins.
