Chapter 9 (Volume 1)

CHAPTER 9 V1 

Yumei's eyes go wide. 

"Tadashi you got shot! Are you okay?!" Yumei yells over the wind. After all she doesn't want to fall.

"Gee thanks captain obvious! I failed to notice." He says sarcastically and rolls his eyes. 

Yumei is baffled. Why wasn't he hurting? That bullet obviously went right through him but he acted like nothing happened. 

People run after them while they glide but all of them slowly fall behind. 

After a little more gliding, (it felt more like flying to Yumei...) They land in an apple tree, not far at all from Northwood high. Tadashi climbs down the tree then reaches up and helps Yumei down the tree.

Tadashi sighs and leans against the tree. She finally gets a good look at his wound. It was a perfectly round hole with a big bloody circle surrounding it and growing larger by the second. 

"Barrett MK22." He says with a smile when he realized she was looking at his wound. He crosses his arms and looks down at her. Yumei just looks at him.

"...It's a gun, dork." He says rolling his eyes. 

"Okay..." Yumei says with a slow nod. 

'Is now really a good time for a chit chat?' Yumei says in her head. She didn't care what gun shot him. 

"Where are we? And why are we here?" She asks, looking around her. They are in the middle of an apple orchard.

"This is where I could land without being seen. And I'm waiting for them to look for you a little." Tadashi takes off his suit. 

"That doesn't answer my- ya know what? Nevermind. How'd you know they were looking for me?" She crossed her arms. 

"'We're looking for the girl with the sun tattoo!' 'Kill the boy! We need the girl alive!'" Tadashi says with a deep and mocking voice.

"You're impossible! Take me home, right now!" She says crossly. 

"No can do sweetheart." He says as he folds up his suit. 

"Okay then, I'll go home myself." Yumei starts walking off in a random direction. 

Tadashi grabs her collar without getting up and he rolls his eyes. 

"They will definitely be watching your house. I wouldn't go home if I were you... Also, wrong way." He let's go of her shirt. 

"So where do I go then smart guy?" She says turning around, losing her patience.

"You can come back to my place for now." Tadashi puts his gliding suit into the hollow tree trunk. 

"Hard pass." She says with a disgusted look, holding up her hands in defense.

"That wasn't an invitation." He says, then grabs her and slung her over his shoulder.

Yumei grunts but doesn't try to get out. (Mostly because she knows that she can't even if she tried...) He gets to the end of the Orchard and reaches a large hedge meant to keep intruders out. Not that it does. 

Beyond a small gate was a abandoned barn backed by the woods.

"Northwood is just beyond those trees." He says and takes out some keys. 

"Nice place you got." She says with a skeptical face. 

"Who knew you were such a funny girl?" Tadashi says with a mean laugh as he unlocks the padlock and opens the door wide.
