Chapter 8:

Flamingo

Pragmatic flower

I am starting to feel pretty numb. I think I am indifferent to all the things around me. Have I lost my soul and heart? My heart should be bigger than a normal heart.

Okay, the news is on. They are boring as ever. Those stupid idiots, so boring, so dumb. I can't be bothered by them.

I will make coffee, or should I just make my assistant make it? Hmm, why would I make a coffee?

 "Rinnnnnn!!!"

"Yes, sir?" the assistant asked, just popping her head through the door.

"Make me coffee ASAP, and make it good. No sugar, no milk today. And in an hour, make me a cold one with some sugar."

"Yes, sir."

Sachiko then called in on the phone the minister of finance. The minister slowly walked into the Prime Minister's office, and there was Sachiko, annoyed, bored, waiting on his now cold coffee. His first coffee was not good, but this cold coffee looked good, at least to the Minister of Finance. As he entered the Prime Minister's big office, the big desk and a lot of space in the office were making him feel small.Sachiko raised from his chair to bow as well.

"Okay, listen. You have three months, and then pack up your things and you can go. Are we clear?" Cold as ever, Sachiko said with his palms sitting on the table, one on the other.

"I am not sure I understand, sir." The Prime Minister of Finance was standing uncomfortably as ever and with a confused look on his face, which was annoying Sachiko.

Sachiko decided to sit down and continue this firing process. "I am terminating your term as minister in three months from now."

"But sir, I—"

Sachiko stood up. "No 'but I.' Just go. You have three months. Wrap everything up, clean everything. I am really sorry that we have to let you go. You must understand this was not solely my decision, so it is really hard. I really like you, so please don't make this any harder. In these three months, just do a little bit of work. You will also get some money from this termination, so enjoy that and do something with family. Okay?"

"Sir, I did everything right. Don't do this. Could you, for the sake of our good relationship, try to make an argument for me staying in the position?"

Sachiko didn't show his annoyance by this, but it was overflowing his whole body. This stupid human begging, and this time-wasting explanation, and time-wasting of doing it in a nice way. Also, the waste of brain energy to think of how to do this without just telling this guy that he is fat."Sorry, there is nothing I can do. Look at this suit. Please, do you notice anything?" Sachiko put his feet on the table.

"It's pink?"

"Ah, yes, it is pink. Good catch. You are right. You know why it is right?" Without letting the minister of finance say anything, Sachiko continued. "Because of the protest. I am protesting the normal. It's the fight against everyone. I am fighting all the time, you know. I am anti-system. I am fire in the structure. I am anti-structure. Do you think I would not fight for you? But it is really just some other dumb people raised concerns and decided to put some woman on this position so that the government would look better. Do you understand?" Sachiko used lies like this as fast as a normal person would breathe, so even to himself, this sounded super convincing.

"Thank you, sir. I will clear the office then in three months. Thanks for everything you've done." The minister said sadly and uncomfortably, now that he was taking the Prime Minister's precious time.

Okay, that was not fun, and now I am bored again. I guess he at least filled some time of my day with something more fun than doing paperwork.

"Rinnnnn!"

The assistant popped her little head into his office.

"Come here." He gestured with his head that she should come beside him.

The assistant, in high heels with super long legs and a brown skirt, slowly waltzed around the large office table and came beside him.

Sachiko, while enjoying the view in his pink suit, filled full of power and self-worth, said to her, "I have signed all this paperwork. You can take it and bring a new pile, okay?" He said with a big, happy smile.

The assistant took the pile of paperwork, smiled at the Prime Minister, and then slowly started to go away. "Oh, sir, I need to tell you—" she started when she arrived at the door.

Sachiko, still enjoying watching her exist in his space, asked, mesmerized by her looks, "Yes, what, Rin?"

"You have a guest. He wants to see you."

"Ahh, what now? Is it some idiot again? Tell them I am busy."

"It's Shirakawa, sir."

"Aaa, nice. Is it Toma or the old fart?" Sachiko's smile widened from cheek to cheek.

Rin, with her face toward the door, said, "It's Toma, sir. Should I tell him that you are busy then?"

"No, my sweet Rin. I was just kidding. Let him in, please, and thank you for your hard work. Remind me that I need to buy you a gift."

"I will, sir. Thank you."

I was greeted by Rin, this beautiful woman who was working as an assistant here in this massive government office.

"Mr. Shirakawa, the Prime Minister will see you now. Please knock and then enter his office."

"Thank you, thank you, Ms.— Ms.— erm, your name keeps escaping my busy mind. I am acting so much and need to remember so many scripts, names, you know, stuff. Could you please remind me of your beautiful name?"

"It's Rin."

"Ah, Rin, yes, of course. Thank you. You are amazing. I will go now to see him." I started making big steps towards his door, being a little bit nervous by the beauty of this assistant.

I knocked and entered. And as I saw the big pink suit on my and, more so, my dad's long-time friend, I said immediately, "You look like a big stupid bird standing on one leg, you moron."

"HA HA HA!" A grotesque laugh came from behind the desk.

"Come, give me a hand, you little boy." Sachiko offered his hand.

"Did you wash your hands from all the corruption before offering a shake? Ha ha," I asked jokingly and offered my hand with a firm grip.

Sachiko again laughed so hard that Rin in another office was wondering what was happening."I could also ask if you have washed yours from all the women you get in contact with," Sachiko said jokingly.

"You see how that could be offensive to women, don't you?" I asked him, even though I got what he was aiming for with this joke and was wanting to poke at me and my relationship with a lot of women more than it was an offense to women, but still.

"Ah, you are right, my feminist little boy. Anyhow, what brings you here, Toma?"

"I will be quick. I am meeting this woman, and I will need your help if the media says something bad or something like this, if they find out. Could you stop them from attacking or being rude to this woman?"

"Ah, so you are here for a favor, as always. Is your father good?"

"He is drunk as always, and I think he is gambling less now after your help, but alcohol is still in his veins. If he even has veins left, I think alcohol is all that his body is. His veins are swimming in alcohol probably, and not the other way."

"Ha ha ha, good point. He will never change, but I am glad if he is gambling less. I will do the thing for the media. I promise. Just give me a call."

I thanked the Prime Minister. I can't believe my friend became Prime Minister of Japan. Also, I can't believe someone like him made it so far... but okay, at least he will do this good deed for me and protect Ms. Asahina if our date goes public or if anyone finds out.
