Chapter 4:
The Ronin Gunslinger
Ruitaka bolted to his motorcycle.
But before he could reach it, the man returned his katana to his sides and whipped out the chain wrapped around his arm. The chain grabbed Ruitaka's left leg as he fell face first to the ground.
The man leaped onto the black motorcycle and sped down the alley as the engine roared to life.
A little more than a dozen bikers from the Devils on Wheels clan began speeding towards him. He hopped onto the back of the closest motorcycle and bellowed an unearthly howl that would shake an average man to his very core.
The motorcycles roared in fury as they zipped down the narrow alleyway.
The man whizzed through the alleyway into a highway, overflowing with traffic; the overwhelming honks and hums echoed for miles. He was quickly making his way through the small gaps between cars and trucks when he noticed the group of bikers catching up to him.
They had almost the same outfit as Ruitaka, black vest, black gloves, and a helmet covering their whole head. The only differences were the chains wrapped around some of their waists and the blood-colored stains on their vests.
Ruitaka was positioning himself into the seat of one of the motorcycles. The original biker was hanging on the ledge and pounced towards the man when they drew closer.
The man pulled out his weapon by his waist and shot the oncoming biker midair right on the chest. The biker tumbled backwards and disappeared from their vision almost instantly as the bikes sped by.
The road was entering a tunnel, and all the vehicles seemed to be finally let loose of the traffic as their headlights blurred while they scampered off. The honks of cars and screeching of tires felt more apparent as the sounds bounced all over the walls of the tunnel.
Another biker was closing on the man's left. His right hand let go of the bike handle and showed off three throwing knives which gleamed under the damp orange lights of the tunnel.
He flung them towards the man's bike.
The man deflected the knife flying towards him, but another one ripped his back tire and the last one jammed itself into the fuel tank.
The man grabbed the chain hanging by his shoulder and whipped it as it wrapped around the mounting of the cargo truck in front of him. He leapt from his bike and kicked it to the left towards the nearby biker.
His boots screeched across the asphalt as he dangled onto the chain hooked to the back of the truck.
The motorcycle flew towards the biker and exploded into a ball of flames just as it neared him. The biker was burned to bits as his body flew across the tunnel.
The man slowly pulled himself up to the top of the truck. He picked up his chain again and flung it towards the closest biker. The chain wrapped around the biker's neck as he was yanked off from the motorcycle and quickly disappeared from everyone's vision.
Another biker was slowly climbing up the side of the truck's trailer. A third biker was on top of another truck to the left of the man. He sent a throwing knife to the man's direction. The man twisted himself unusually, snatching the knife out of the air.
In a swift motion, he plunged the knife onto the visor of the biker climbing up the trailer, and the biker lost his grip and tumbled out of sight.
The man shot the biker on the opposing truck and bolted towards the front of his truck. He slid himself between the trailer and the actual truck, pulled out his katana and with a clean blow, broke the fastener.
The trailer careened off the truck and sealed off half of the entire highway. Cars screeched to a stop and multiple bikes had to skid to a halt as well. Only four bikes were chasing the man now.
The bouncing orange strobe lights finally dissipated as tunnel was finally ending, and the blinding neon of Tokyo welcomed the fighters once again.
The man leapt off the truck and planted his katana into the closest biker. The blade went right down the head and pierced his torso. The man hopped off the bike onto the back of a pickup truck right before the motorcycle lost control and skidded away in a random direction.
"FUCK THIS SHIT!!!" cried Ruitaka in a gurgly voice. It had lost all the confidence and viciousness it had before.
Ruitaka and the two other bikers sped off the highway into a less traffic-densed road.
The man pounced off the truck and shot one biker in the head midair. The biker tumbled off his motorcycle just as the man landed to take his place.
He then riddled the biker in front of him with bullets as he too, collapsed. The man jumped off the motorcycle just as the two bikes collided into a burst of flames.
Ruitaka was the biker at the very front, and he looked behind him in horror, he was the only one with this freak of a man now. But when he returned his gaze forwards, there was a rush of relief.
The Devils on Wheels hideout was right there. It had all of the strongest oni in their clan; he would surely be protected there. Plus, there were no vehicles nearby for the man to grab onto, and both of the remaining bikes were destroyed!
Ruitaka would then look to his left in fear as the man was sprinting closer and closer to him with nothing but his own to legs. Yes, Ruitaka could dash a lot faster than him, but he could only dash a few times before growing too fatigued to even stand up. If this man fought him, took down a dozen bikers in the speeding highway, and was running faster than motorcycle, his endurance was comparable to even the strongest of onis!
Panic began to well up in Ruitaka's stomach. He was so close to the hideout, but so was the man!
The man pushed his feet off the ground and sailed through the air with katana in hand. He stabbed Ruitaka right in the back of his chest as the motorcycle crashed through the window of Doji's All-In-One Motorbike Shop.
