Chapter 1:

Moving Day

My Sister Found a Spaceship

In the spooky town of Screamsville, me and my sister, Clare, arrive at our new house. “We’re here,” said our mom, “our house.”

“Uhh... it’s, it’s---”

“I believe weird is the word your looking for,” I said to my sister.

“Or creepy,” we said together. We laughed for a bit.

“Can’ t we live in a nicer house? Like that one,” I said, I point at the bigger house

My mom took a sudden pause and looked at me.

“Well,” my mom said struggling to speak. “Well, kiddo, I promise I will make this place like Philly.” She tells us to unpack. My little sister runs up to the new house, faster than when we went to the playground.

“Yay!” my little sister said. We walked in our house and it was more disgusting on the inside. Then I stepped in something gooey.

“Eww,” I yelled.

My mom started to unpack the kitchen while we unpacked our rooms.

“Yay! We are finally here!”

My sister tried to paint her wall pink, but ended up splattering the paint on the wooden floor. I laughed. She could not paint yet. Well, she was only five.

“Stephan, Clare, time for dinner!” my mom says. Me, actually excited, to go to dinner, run downstairs, while my sister drags behind me. “Peas and corn!”

“Ohhhh,” my sister replies in a disappointing grunt. I myself like peas and corn. I ate up my dinner while my sister was swallowing dramatically like a cockroach was in her mouth.

I really thought I could use my sister to get out of moving here for life, but it was hopeless. You see Clare has always been a crying machine. So she can get anything and I mean ANYTHING. I can’ t imagine her without tears. So every once in a while I use her tears to get what I want. And I reward her with candy and money. But this time, I don’t think that is happening this time.

Our mom said it was time for bed. Me and Clare walked to our rooms. My sister looked at her bare floor. “Can I sleep on your bed, Stephy?” That was my nickname.

“No” I said.

“Please?”

“Fine.”

She jumped on my air mattress . I had to sleep on the floor. “Hey sis…” I whisper’ but she is already snoring. Quietly, slowly I fall asleep too.
