Chapter 18:

Afterword

Evanescent: Butterfly Tale

Honestly, this little story started off on a pretty simple whim. But after 4 years of writing (and a further 2 in finishing the final script) I'm glad I finally got around to completing this tale, because it's been a fun ride.

If I had to say what the point, or perhaps the purpose this butterfly tale was supposed to serve, it would be to portray the consequences of love and the weakness that constitutes its potentially, in certain instances, (if not in many) antipathetic foundations, pushing the object of those affections away and evolving itself into obsession. In other words, to display a showing of internal weakness, and how that weakness can affect the perspective one has on another. Or at least..something to that effect. I hope that made sense, because I really feel like I'm rambling.

Anyway, there are a few more hints and details riddled throughout this tale regarding this theme, but I'll let you all discover those hidden details for yourselves, if you haven't already.

As for my inspirations for this tale, in case any of you were wondering, well one of them comes from my own life (if that wasn't already obvious). I'd like to think that almost every boy at some stage in his life falls for a girl, and I fell especially hard back in my day (elementary school. I'm not THAT old though, okay?!). It evidently didn't end up working out for me, which you could probably tell from my previous monologue on the pessimistic aspects of an idealized romance. Jeez..I sound like a sourly pitiful old man! Ha! That's a hoot!

I did use my experience to end up where I am today though, creating this novel and all, the preliminary beginning to this series, so I can't say I wish a different outcome had occurred in the end.

Now for my second and arguably biggest inspiration for this novel, that honor would have to go to my favorite author, the legendary NISIOISN. He and in particular his Monogatari series have been massively, awe-strikingly impactful in my life in general, and I hope (as well as plan) to consume all of his plethora of stories at some point soon enough.

I will admit, it would be nice to meet him and his cover artist for his stories, the prolific creative that is VOFAN in person, but I don't think I have the facilities for that currently. Unfortunately. Maybe some day, perhaps.

Another shoutout goes to Rick Riordan and his Percy Jackson series, as that has been a bit of an inspiration for my writing as well

All that aside, thank you all for reading this nobody of an authors first official novel, you have no idea how much this means to me. I plan to continue this series with future installments, so please stick around with me on my journey, at least for a little while
