Chapter 6:

Chapter 6 - Help from Adventurers

I refuse to let the demon king stop my anime bingeing

The guards merely kept the doors and windows blocked in preparation for my escape. My decision to ignore all plausible exits confused them greatly.

“Grab her!” The guards yelled, concerned by my sudden drive at a wall.

Kicking open to the outside, The guards wedged themselves stuck in Discordia's trap door, I swiftly slammed the makeshift door in their faces.

“FUCK! MY HAND!” One of the cried, the door couldn’t shut.

“HAHAHA!!!” Discordia laughed, I noticed her watching from the sidelines to the guards pain.

“We need to leave now!” I screamed, grabbing her hand as we rushed out.

“You seemed panicked.” Discordia observed catching up to my sprint.

“Huh?” A guard stationed at the back exit of the shop observed us running from the scene.

The door kicked open, scaring him. “That's the Chibi Looter you idiot!” The woman guard and others rushed out from the back. “GET HER!!!”

With guards on pursuit, Discordia and I ran harder.

“HUH!? IT WAS A TRAP!?” Discordia now understood.

“They waited for me to steal! It was as if they knew what I was going to take!” I recalled as they only reacted when I took the vial.

We hurdled through the tight alleys, knocking past slouched people and trash.

“Huh!? But you only take things that catch your interest? How would they know what you would take?”

We ran, but Discordia’s question trumped me. Before I could ponder, a cold flaky golden tint made itself known accompanied by a fierier one.

“Shit! DOOR!” I demanded.

“Okay!” Discordia swiftly pulled on me with a twirl. In one fast motion the wall next to us swung open with her magic.

“Huh!”

“WHAT THE-!”

People yelled in surprise as we ran over their meals. A small family cowered as their apartment was invaded by us and guards.

“Don’t let them get away!” A male guard demanded in pursuit.

Why do these guards stick to cliché scripts? I questioned as we rushed out the front door onto open streets.

FWWEEEETTTT!!!

“It’s the Chibi Looter! Get him!”

The guards blew their whistles and yelled to their comrades.

“We’re on the open streets! We need to get back to the alleys!” I stated and Discordia nodded.

We struggled to through the crowds, guards were also keen to our strategy as the blocked potential routes.

More guards scrambled to join the chase, the streets were unusually busy which made swerving through people easier. Golden tints of all types of magic had us, keeping us caged in their sights.

“I- I can’t dodge this!” I yelled, knowing we were done for.

Suddenly, the golden tints went off target, missing their opportunity for an attack.

“GET OFF ME!” A guard yelled, people from the crowd were fighting the guards.

“Don’t let the police get the chibi looter!” An adventure pushed the guard.

“Huh?” Me and Discordia questioned as an influx of adventures made their appearances and were protecting us.

“Why are the adventurers on our side!?!?” Discordia freaked out.

“I have no idea!” I yelled, more golden tints were aimed us. “HUH!?!?”

I was in complete shock as adventures were ready to attack us.

“That reward is mine!” A man shouted. Following a golden tint of dripping shot out a water jet, fast and dangerous at us.

“Oh, shit!” Too fast to dodge, I instinctively swipe it away.

“What!?” The adventure yelled, watching as his attack was ready to strike me perfectly, to then curving towards the people behind me.

“ACK! ATTACK HIM, IDIOT!” A fellow adventure yelled as the jet hit him hard to the ground, throwing off his aim. His magic shot out mud onto the street, the guards that ran on top of it slipped and found themselves unable to get back up as they slid around.

“Don’t let the Chibi Looter get away!” An adventure now yelled.

“W- WHAT IS GOING ON!?!?” I yelled unable to keep up as we sprinted.

“HAHAHAHA!!!” Discordia laughed wholeheartedly.

“STOP LAUGHING YOU SADIST!” I demanded as more magic was set on us.

Discordia pulled me close, passing through crowds of confused people, she guided me to a bigger built man.

“Huh?” He questioned as Discordia swiped her finger against his leg. “ACK!”

The man yelped as he found his leg suddenly cut off. Falling on his side and acting as a hurdle, guards and Adventures either tripped or staggered from his bigger size.

“My leg!” The man yelled.

“HAHAHAHA!!!” Discordia couldn’t hold back her laughter as we ran.

More golden tints were on us, those who went around quickly readied.

“That reward is mine!” An adventure used magic on the road, curving it upwards, creating a wall that others ran into.

We found ourselves in the market, with distance, people and stalls crowded the streets. We slipped out of sight.

“Find them, the chibi looter must be caught in the name of justice!” A guard yelled.

“Huh!? You damn police will not get in our way. That reward is ours!” An adventure yelled.

The market was in chaos, adventures and police fought each other making claims to my capture.

“They must be hiding here!” Someone yelled.

“You idiots can search here! They must have went through the back alleys!” The search was split up, stalls were ransacked and torn through while others went out in continued pursuit.

“You have a real following today, chibi.” Discordia laughingly mocked.

Hiding in an abandoned stall, we kept low and I pondered things.

I don’t understand what is happening. Adventures and Police don’t work together on anything, not even for the betterment of the city. I haven't done anything to garner quests for my capture by adventures, but they are keen there’s a reward.

The only thing coming to my mind as of recent was the sword from the blacksmith’s.

The sword looked as typical as any other one you could find in the shop. The blacksmith isn’t too well regarded due to his rip off prices, and his business model is centered around underhanded dealings, no one would work for him.

The sounds of other stalls being ran sacked grew closer, people were scared by the hunt.

“My fruits!” An old woman cried.

“Come out chibi! If you do we won’t harm you or your friend!” An adventurer lied.

“You will be put in prison for your crimes! Come out and we can make it a lighter sentence!” A police officer told the truth.

“You're in quite the dilemma here.” Discordia chuckled. “Trapped in an abandoned stall. Hopelessly surrounded by police and adventures, each opportunistically want you caught. How will this young maiden fight through the horde of oppressors.”

Discordia narration of the predicament irked me. Her sadistic eyes gleamed as her entertainment was on full display.

“Come out, Chibi! You and your friend are mine and I will not hesitate to bury you if you prolong this further!” A man stated angerly.

“Those boys are criminals and will face due process!” A police officer stated, apprehending the man.

“Get off me, pig! I’ll fucking murder you!” The man struggled, a fight was breaking out very close by.

“Ack. They think I’m a boy now too?” Discordia was pissed.

Makes sense. I've always been a bit tomboyish, and I guess that translates into how I steal. Discordia is very barbaric in nature, so her cutting off that man's leg earlier must have given the wrong impression. Wait a minute...

I felt stupid for only now thinking this.

The police and adventures kept their search and fighting. They even began knocking each other into stands and firing off magic towards one another.

“Hey! I found an abandoned stall with their cloaks inside!” A police guard stated to the other guards.

“I caught one!” An adventure shouted.

“Get off me!” A young boy was picked up by the arm, dragged out to the center.

“They must have ditched their cloaks, find his buddy!” The man demanded to the others.

“I caught the other one!” Another shouted.

“No! I found him!”

“You’re all idiots! I found them!” Multiple adventures dragged young boys from all around, taking them capture.

“There’s only two of them!” An adventurer stated. “Grab every boy here, we will capture them!”

With the order, boys from all around became targeted, dragged from their stalls or off the street where they laid homeless. Complaining and fighting back as they were dragged.

“This should work.” I stated nervously and me and Discordia walked openly in the crowd.

“Hmm.” An adventure stepped in front of us as we quietly tried to sneak away. “You two.”

“Y- yes!” I squealed.

“You didn’t see two boys your age run through here in cloaks, have you?” His piercing eyes terrified us.

“Uh...” We looked to one another. “We saw them go that way.”

Pointing in a random direction, the man nodded and quietly separated from the main search party. Relieved he didn’t suspect a thing, we walked away from the scene, happy to have been misinterpreted as boys for the first time in our lives.
