Chapter 8:

Chapter 8 - The Fat man who can't use magic

I refuse to let the demon king stop my anime bingeing

Discordia wouldn’t budge out of fear, I could barely struggle. Blubber’s grip was strong around me. I kicked my feet behind me, barely fazing him, it was clear I couldn’t win with strength.

“Who are you and why are you in our house!” I demanded as Blubber held me up.

I only now noticed he had his blade drawn and homed in on my neck.

“If you care for your friend stand down, or I’ll use my magic to blow her head clean off.” He threatened.

I struggled as Discordia clenched her teeth, not able to do a thing. I studied what I could see in my peripherals, neither his sword or arm showed signs of the golden tint.

“H- He’s lying! He can’t use magic!” I blurt out without thinking.

“What!?” Discordia was taken aback.

“If you don’t believe me then test your luck!” Blubber bluffed, inching towards the door. “I know you’re the chibi looter, and I will be getting my reward.”

My mind went blank. I’m good at picking up those who stalk me, so how did he slip by.

“Discordia! Just use your magic on him! He doesn't have magic to counter with!” I yelled once more as he walked me backwards out of the apartment.

“How would you even know!?” Her question was one I couldn’t answer. “Besides! He doesn’t need magic to kill you with a sword right now!”

Oh, that is very true. Wait...

The real issue is he knows my identity, even without this current reward he could still turn me into the police for a bounty.

“Hey! We don’t have the sword!” I stated.

“I don’t care! I don’t care if you're lying or telling the truth the only thing I need to do is turn you in to the holy knights.” Blubber stated, slowly walked backwards down the stairs.

Discordia didn’t know what to do.

“I can tell! You’re very observant and smart. We both know they’ll hold off giving you the reward until she gets her sword.” I grunted as each step made his arm dig into my neck.

Hitting the bottom of the steps, he adjusted how he carried me. Slinging me under his arms, he postured. With his size, I had low expectations but instead was met by his sudden athletics as he booked it into a sprint.

Oh... He's kinda fast...

Slung under the arm of the man as he ran, I felt uncomfortable by his body odor. Blubber made it a far distance by the time Discordia made it down the stairs.

“WAIT!!!” Discordia chased, despite her smaller figure the fat man's stomach equaled the playing field.

“Are you even listening to me!” I yelled, trying to get his attention.

“You’re my ticket out of here! I’m not dropping you for the world!” He stated his intentions loudly with a hint of desperation.

What now!? I questioned angerly.

The glances from bystanders were judgmental as a fat man carried me, a struggling young maiden, in his arms as a another chased behind. The city was too morally corrupt to help us.

Desperation brewed in my chest knowing he is set in his ways.

“We both know you’re lying about magic!” I yelled, getting his brows to wrinkle.

“Yeah, what of it?” He questioned. “I don’t know what’s making you say this, but if it doesn’t get me to the capital I don’t care!”

I grunted, feeling his grip tighten around me.

“I can help you if you help me! Then we can all get to the capital!” I proposed. Onlookers kept giving disgusting stares as we ran past, and Discordia was running out of energy.

“I don’t care-”

“If you don’t stop right now, I’ll announce to everyone that I’m-”

Getting the message, Blubber stopped dead in his tracked, nearly launching me from his hands.

“ACK!”

Discordia was unable to break fast enough, slammed into me, freeing me from his grip and let me hit the ground hard.

“OW!” I cried, rubbing my face. I didn’t notice the glass vial slipping out of my pocket.

“What the hell!?” Discordia rubbed her face as she uncomfortably ran into Blubber’s sweaty back.

“Don’t try any funny business now.” Blubber helped me up, giving me a second to dust off.

“I’m happy we’re in agreeance.” I nodded, meeting his eyes in mutual interest.

Knowing he doesn’t want others to hear how I’m the Chibi looter tells me he hasn’t told anyone, and he would preferably like it to be kept a secret as well.

“So, what’s this proposition of yours?” He asked annoyed.

“Well, the sword is currently in possession of a woman named Layla and-”

“Wait, the hall’s receptionist?” Blubber asked confused.

“Y- Yes.” I was put off that he knew immediately. “If you can help us get it off of her, then we can negotiate with the Holy Knights and get us all into the capital.” I slightly lied to Blubber.

“How am I supposed to help get it off her?” He asked.

“What... What is going on?” Discordia was confused by our sudden negotiation.

“I’ll explain later.” I slightly lied to Discordia. “For now we-”

“Halt!!!” A females voice suddenly demanded.

“Ekk!” I shuttered seeing familiar police officers pull up. The woman and the same male officer walked up to us as we talked.

“Y- Yes officers?” I asked nervously to their sudden appearance.

“You’re safe now girls, we’ll handle things from here.” The female officer opened her arms up to us.

“Huh?” Me and Discordia were very confused.

“You sicko! Kidnapping a girl in broad daylight.” The male officer had a golden tint aimed at Blubber, ready to unleash fire magic.

“Uh...” Blubber didn’t know how to respond. His eyes of desperation met mine, telling me his intentions if he’s arrested.

“I- I’m sorry, officers. This is our uncle, and this is how we play games together.” I blatantly lied to the two.

“There’s no need to be afraid we’ll protect you from the man.” The female officer urged me close as the male officer kept his sights.

“Uh...” I didn’t know how to respond. Clearly, they weren’t ready to believe us, and Blubber’s sword being present made it harder to lie.

“I’m sorry for the confusion officers.” Discordia stepped forward confidently with a slight bow. “Being quite honest here, we really asked this man to help us in a dangerous situation from another man. We thought if we hired someone to fake kidnap us, the real kidnapper we were afraid of wouldn’t.”

Discordia’s bigger lie had the officers question us. Looking to me and Blubber, we nodded our heads awkwardly, I was happy Discordia picked up in my lies.

“Uh... Okay...” The female officer stood, and the male put down his arm. “Well... Let us help with the other kidnapper, can you tell us more?”

“Sorry, he’s in one of those back alleys and we don’t know where he is now. He was wearing a cloak.” I added to the lie.

“Alright, we’ll do what we can... You two be safe.” With a bow, our awkward situation was settled, and we made our separate ways.

“Oh, wait a second.” The female office got our attentions as she picked something off the ground. “You dropped this...”

As the female officer signaled for my attention over the dropped item, ready to hand it over, she studied it carefully. My heart sank.

“This... This is the blue vial... Stolen from the blacksmith’s shop earlier... How did you-?”

“RUN!” I screamed, forcing Blubber and Discordia to book it as the female officer took out her whistle.

FWWEEEETTTT!!!

With that, the chase was back on.
