Chapter 29:
The Master of Heroes
The world stopped breathing.
That massive eye of darkness hovered behind Narkaal, filling the sky like an endless abyss. It did not blink. It did not move. Yet everyone felt it watching them—not just their bodies, but their hearts, their fears, their memories.
The pressure was unbearable.
Ayon dropped to one knee, clutching his chest.
Ayon:
“I… can’t… breathe…”
Sumit fell beside him, flames around his fists flickering weakly.
Sumit:
“This thing… it feels like the world itself is pushing us down…”
Alir tried to stand, but her legs trembled violently.
Alir:
“My body won’t listen…”
Even Jirsong, known for his strong will, felt his vision blur.
Jirsong:
“So this… is a god’s gaze…”
The Serdihun sisters held onto each other, their healing magic shaking and unstable.
Serdihun 1:
“Our magic… it’s being suppressed…”
Serdihun 2:
“It feels like our existence is being rejected…”
Ajmal planted his staff into the ground, using it to stay upright. Blood trickled from his nose, but his eyes remained sharp.
Ajmal:
“This is not an attack…”
(pause)
“This is judgment.”
Narkaal floated higher, arms spread wide.
The massive dark eye behind him widened.
Narkaal:
“This is the power of origin.
The authority of the First Shadow.”
The sky darkened even further.
Stars vanished.
The moon disappeared.
Only black remained.
Narkaal:
“In my presence… weak worlds crumble.”
Suddenly—
BOOOOOM!
A shockwave of pure darkness exploded outward.
The heroes were thrown apart like leaves in a storm.
Kemp was slammed into the ground, creating a massive crater.
Kemp coughed, blood dripping from his mouth.
But his eyes remained open.
Golden light flickered weakly around him.
Kemp (thinking):
“So heavy… but… I won’t fall…”
Narkaal descended slowly, stopping above Kemp.
Narkaal:
“You are the core of their hope.
The bearer of light.”
He looked down at Kemp.
Narkaal:
“If you break…
They will follow.”
Narkaal raised his hand.
A massive spear of darkness formed above it, pointed directly at Kemp’s heart.
Ayon screamed from the distance.
Ayon:
“KEMP!!”
Sumit tried to stand.
Sumit:
“No—STOP—!”
Alir reached out desperately.
Alir:
“Please…!”
Ajmal shouted with all his strength.
Ajmal:
“NARKAAL!!”
The god paused.
He turned his mask slightly toward Ajmal.
Ajmal:
“You claim light rejected you.
But look around you!”
Ajmal pointed toward the heroes.
Ajmal:
“These people stand together.
They suffer.
They bleed.
Yet they still fight for each other!”
Narkaal remained silent.
Ajmal continued, voice shaking but strong.
Ajmal:
“If light truly rejected you…
Then why does it still exist in them?!”
The spear of darkness trembled.
Narkaal:
“…Light is fragile.”
The spear moved again.
Kemp gritted his teeth and forced himself up, slowly rising to one knee.
Kemp:
“You’re wrong.”
Everyone froze.
Kemp stood, shaking but unbroken.
Kemp:
“Light isn’t fragile.
People are.”
Golden light slowly grew brighter around him.
Kemp:
“And yet… even fragile people choose to protect others.”
Narkaal stared.
Kemp stepped forward.
Kemp:
“You were alone.
You were rejected.
But that doesn’t mean the world deserves to die.”
The dark spear wavered.
For a brief moment—
The pressure lessened.
Ayon gasped.
Ayon:
“H-He’s hesitating…!”
Sumit clenched his fists.
Sumit:
“Then now’s our chance!”
Ajmal shouted:
Ajmal:
“Everyone! Focus on the gate! NOW!”
The heroes moved without hesitation.
Ayon unleashed his strongest wind spell, forming a massive rotating storm that slammed into the dimensional gate.
Alir fired a single arrow—brighter than any before—straight at its center.
Jirsong gathered all his remaining lightning into one strike.
Jirsong:
“For this world!”
The Serdihun sisters combined their magic, reinforcing everyone’s strength.
Serdihun 1 & 2:
“Together!”
Ajmal raised his staff, chanting a forbidden spell.
Ajmal:
“Anchor Break… Reality Severance!”
The attacks struck the gate—
CRACK!!!
A visible fracture formed.
The gate trembled violently.
Narkaal reacted instantly.
Narkaal:
“ENOUGH.”
He slammed his hand downward.
Darkness erupted.
The heroes were blasted away again.
Ajmal screamed as his staff shattered in his hands.
Ajmal:
“NO—!”
He collapsed to his knees, powerless.
The gate stabilized… but the crack remained.
Small.
But real.
Narkaal slowly turned back to Kemp.
Narkaal:
“You force me… to remember.”
The massive eye behind him shifted.
The darkness around Narkaal flickered.
Narkaal:
“I remember standing before the first world…
Begging to exist.”
His voice grew heavy.
Narkaal:
“And being erased… again and again.”
Kemp tightened his grip on his spear.
Kemp:
“You weren’t erased.
You survived.”
Narkaal:
“…And became this.”
He raised both hands.
Dark chains erupted from the void, wrapping around Kemp’s body.
Kemp screamed as the chains burned into his golden aura.
Ayon cried out.
Ayon:
“KEMP!!”
Sumit charged forward, but was slammed into the ground instantly.
Sumit:
“DAMN IT!!”
Narkaal pulled Kemp closer.
Narkaal:
“I will show you despair.
The same despair that shaped me.”
The dark eye widened.
Visions flooded Kemp’s mind.
Worlds collapsing.
Civilizations erased.
Light fading again and again.
Kemp screamed.
Kemp:
“GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!”
But through the darkness—
He heard voices.
Ayon:
“Don’t give up!”
Sumit:
“We’re right here!”
Alir:
“You’re not alone!”
Jirsong:
“Stand up!”
Serdihun sisters:
“We believe in you!”
Ajmal (weak but firm):
“Kemp… you are not light alone…
You are hope.”
The chains cracked.
Golden light burst from Kemp’s chest.
Kemp roared.
Kemp:
“I AM NOT ALONE!!!”
The chains shattered.
The shockwave forced Narkaal back for the first time.
Silence fell.
Everyone stared.
Narkaal hovered, unmoving.
Then—
He spoke softly.
Narkaal:
“…So this is the strength of shared existence.”
The dark eye slowly narrowed.
Narkaal:
“Very well.”
The dimensional gate pulsed violently.
Narkaal:
“If hope insists on existing…”
Darkness surged.
Narkaal:
“Then I will crush it completely.”
The sky split open.
Something massive began to descend from beyond the gate.
Something far worse.
Ajmal’s eyes widened in horror.
Ajmal:
“Oh no…”
(whisper)
“He’s bringing his true body…”
The heroes trembled.
The final stage was approaching.
