Chapter 4:
I was just trying to watch fights to stave off boredom, but that didn't last long!
'She really is here... In my home.'
"Oh Kazu, you probably don't remember her, your aunt hasn't been here since you were a toddler after all. She's been so busy... For YEARS!"
"You could always visit me."
"Bold words for someone I don't see coming down here for Christmas."
"It's tough when I have to save people all the time."
'Ok, let's calm down and run through this slowly, she's my aunt? Mom has mentioned my aunt several times before, but I never imagined HER.
...Let's get more info first.'
"So you're... My aunt?"
"Wow, you don't even remember me now? What a shaaamee~ You make me sad now."
"Don't tease him."
"You know sis, if you'd been helping me, I'd be done in a mere moment."
"Huh? Please, that's not true."
"Who's teasing who now? In any case, I'm here now!"
"That's true, I'll go out quickly and buy a cake to celebrate!"
"YES, DEFINITELY, please do!"
'So she's definitely my aunt, she seems so... Not as describe by the others, is this actually the real Gaia? And now mom went out to buy a cake to celebrate, which leaves us alone... I'm not in trouble right?'
"So, uh, hello aunt?"
"Please, just call me sis ok?"
"Really?"
"...Ok?"
She keeps a smile on her face, but the way she says it gives me chills.
"Got it... Sis?"
"See? Isn't that better? Aunt makes me feel so old."
"So what do you do?"
"Come on now, I know you know this one."
"What do you mean?"
"You know I'm Gaia, I know you were watching. Be honest, you were too embarrassed to admit you remembered me just now, isn't it?"
She suddenly elbows me as she says that.
"Wow, to miss your aunt so bad you'd risk your health to come watch over her as she fought, that's so bold and sweet of you, I'm tearing up a little~"
"I thought saying aunt made you feel old?"
"...Truly, to risk your health, so bold."
Another wave of chills.
'What am I doing, I can't make such mistakes, I feel like if I say that again I'll be dead on the spot.
In any case, she knows I was there, but luckily I guess family members get a pass?'
"Uh, sorry... Sis."
"YAY, I feel MUCH better now."
'A smile so bright it's blinding me...'
"Anyway, even if you miss me so much, you really shouldn't take such risks, it can be dangerous. Unless... Are you interested in being a hero?"
"What? No, no, I was just... Happy to see you."
"Have you learned any magic yet?"
"Nope."
"So, what, you took a taxi that suddenly showed up at the top of a building? Is that what you're trying to sell?'
'Damn it.'
"Ok, well... I can teleport."
"Oh...? That has a lot lot of potential, you could totally be a hero!"
"No way, the only thing I do is just teleport myself, and small things.
That's all, really."
"Hmm? ...Interesting."
"What?"
"Nothing! Well I still think you'd be a good one, your mom was."
"What? She knows magic?"
"Oh, she never told you? I guess she's changed, can't stay in the past forever.
Heh, I remember when she would ONLY order from restaurants that were near or in the middle of a fight that caused damage to the roads, imagine if she still did that! Haha."
"Actually she still does."
"Eh?
Ah... I see..."
...
We kept chatting a little, until mom finally came back.
"Here it is!"
'Woah, mom got a huge cake.'
"That is... I'm at a loss for words, all these years and you still know me so well... IT'S BEAUTIFUL, ALL THAT SUGARY GOODNESS!"
"Hold on there missy! Somewhere in this cake I put an EXTREME amount of spice, call it a reason for you to not be far away for so long next time, or it'll be double."
"I see you remain as cruel as ever, truly you are a fiend when you want to be."
'So there's a chance that I can still get hit as collateral damage if I pick the wrong slice... She's starting to be troublesome in ways I couldn't even imagine.'
"So, what made you come back to the area, other than us of course."
"Ah, well, this branch of heroes hasn't been doing the best, so I was sent here to try and put them in order, bring them into shape, that sort of thing. Of course if you'd help me, this could go by much faster!"
"Please, don't tease me like that."
"What about little Kazu, has he thought about joining us?"
'So that's my title now huh.'
"Oh no, he doesn't even know any magic yet."
"Really? How interesting."
'I feel like that was targeted. What can I do though, it's not like I could mention it to mom, who knows what she'd do if she knew I taught myself magic and started watching all kinds of dangerous fights.'
"Besides it's too dangerous you know?"
"Eh? I never thought I'd EVER hear those words come from your mouth."
"Oh shush you."
'So mom knows magic huh... I wonder what kind of magic she knows.'
"So Aun-, I mean, sis, how long you staying for?"
"You're making him call you that?"
"Hm, I don't know, for now I'll stay until they get in shape and stop fooling around."
"Hey, don't ignore me!"
"After that who knows, after all I HAVE been away for far too long."
"...I'm making certain your breakfast contains nothing but spice because of that."
"Huh, what? What do you meaann?! I'm not ignoring you!"
"Yeah, suddenly you aren't, very interesting."
'So, she's gonna stay a while, that's probably fine, as long as I don't watch her fights.'
"Sooo, you're training the heroes? I guess that would take long, wouldn't it?
"With how they're looking? I have no idea, I even suspect one of them is going easy on the girls, no matter how much they destroy. If that's the case, I'll have to teach that one proper manners.
He'll learn alright..."
'Yep, quite a while.'
"So you'll be training them, and helping people? They got you working overtime huh?"
"Oh, no no, I'm only here to train them, I only recently helped out because I was in the area, you got nothing to worry about sis! I got a balanced schedule!"
'Ok, that definitely makes it easier for me.'
We kept eating, Gaia ending up taking the spicy slice. Afterwards she and mom hung out, and started catching up, so I went to my room.
'Hm, I wonder what the club's reaction would be...
...I wonder what the group's would be...
Well, at the very least I know I won't have to worry about being punished for having watched that fight.
I wonder if she'd be ok with it in general... No, can't risk it.
Overall, this is certainly going to make things interesting. I guess I may as well text the club about the news.'

'...In hindsight, I should have waited to tell them in person. Now they're spamming me.'
