Chapter 59:
Reincarnation: Demon Wolf and Rabbit Princess
The chill of the night pierced to the bone. Gentle moonlight bathed the wolf who gazed up at it from below, his eyes filled with longing. His massive body could not conceal the unrest weighing upon his heart.
Whenever he looked at the moon, it reminded him of someone he loved, even though he still could not recall her face.
I… want to see you…
He longed to howl, yet he remembered that this forest did not belong to him. He could not howl without Lady Valeria’s permission, the vampire who ruled this land.
Within the silence, a lullaby suddenly flowed into his mind, soft and gentle like a river’s current.
This voice… where does it come from?
Sirius closed his eyes and sharpened every sense he possessed. No matter how hard he tried, there was nothing for his ears to catch.
Yet the melody continued to turn within his mind, like a verse carried from the past, like a memory untouched by time.
At first, the humming echo within his head left him confused and uneasy, before slowly calming him in its own quiet way.
His fur, once bristled, gradually lowered. His tense muscles began to loosen. At last, he bent his legs and lay down upon the cold, damp earth, curling into a comfortable rest.
The melody did not fade.
It felt as though fragments of memory slipped through the mist clouding his mind. A memory of her presence beside him, singing softly while letting him sleep upon her lap.
Slowly, his gleaming golden irises closed. Together with the gentle night wind, Sirius drifted into sleep.
I wish time would stop, just like this, forever…

Silence reigned. No sound stirred within Elysia’s luxurious and quiet room, save for the constant turning of book pages. From time to time, she rubbed her eyes, which had begun to droop after hours of focused reading.
Upon her study desk lay a stack of books she had recently borrowed from the library. Only the glow of a magic lamp on the ceiling accompanied her since the sun had long fallen asleep.
The light that had once shone brightly now softened into a dim hue, a sign that the hour had grown far too late.
“Hm, is it already this late?”
Elysia closed her book and neatly arranged it at the corner of her desk.
She released a long breath and leaned back against her chair, tilting her head upward with closed eyes. Even so, her thoughts and soul drifted, slowly pulling away from her body.
“Why does the world seem to forbid us from being together?”
“I miss you. I miss you so much.”
She turned her gaze and gently brushed the dark blue cover of the book she had just read.
“When will fate allow us to meet again?”
She pulled open her desk drawer and took out a notebook along with a magic quill. Her eyes flicked briefly toward the magic lamp, the sole source of light left in the room.
“There is still some time. I want to write a little.”
The notebook opened, revealing lines of beautiful writing scattered across the pages like stars. Those words were proof of nights she had spent steeped in emptiness.
Mana flowed. The quill moved. Its feathered tip released ink that danced across the blank page, pouring out emotions she could never speak aloud.
Hey, today I finally went to the magic library again. It is such a vast place, filled with countless books. It is crowded, yet somehow it feels quiet and peaceful. But do you know why I love the library so much?
It is because it always reminds me of our first meeting.
That day, I tried to reach a book on a high shelf, but my hand could not grasp it. Then you came and took it for me.
Even now, I still remember it. Your sincere smile back then. A memory I will never forget, even though we are now separated by fate.
Her hand paused. Her gaze drifted toward the stars shining beyond her glass window.
You know, I am trying to learn magic that might bring me to you. Sadly, academy regulations do not allow me to study it freely.
It may take time… weeks, months, or even years. I do not know. I am not certain myself. But… until that day comes, I hope you will wait faithfully for me.
I will not forgive you if you touch another girl. Remember, I am yours, and you are mine.
Once more, she stopped. Her fingers clenched the magic quill so tightly it nearly snapped. She steadied her breathing before continuing.
Hey… where are you, really? I have visited many kingdoms with Father, yet none of them made my heart race. They are not you, and they never will be.
Hey… do you miss me the way I miss you? Are you trying to find me as I am trying to find you? Or… is there something that prevents you from doing so?
If that is the case… please be patient. If you cannot come to fetch me, then this time, let me be the one to come to you. Even if I am a little late, you will not be angry, will you?
Suddenly, the magic lamp flickered several times, a sign that it would soon go out. The academy strictly regulated sleeping hours so that students would not overexert themselves.
Once again, Elysia sighed. With a heavy heart, she wrote one final entry before preparing for bed.
It is unfortunate. I still wish to speak with you, but circumstances will not allow it. I know you cannot reply to these letters, yet… I hope that one day, you will be able to read them.
I love you, even though I cannot remember your name. O beloved one, my husband from my past life.
The notebook closed just as the lamp went dark. Elysia rose and was about to climb into bed when the night breeze and the brilliance of the full moon drew her attention in their own quiet way.
She opened the balcony door and sat upon its edge. Her violet irises stared blankly at the full moon and the glittering stars, as though they mocked her inability to shine as brightly as they did.
Elysia was not angry. She was already weary of their mockery. Or perhaps… she alone believed it to be mockery.
Her hand rose, clutching the moon pendant hanging at her neck. The same necklace tied to the tragic tale that once stole her happiness.
Amid her longing, tears slipped softly down her cheeks. Without realizing it, her lips began to sing a lullaby she always hummed while gazing at the full moon that had once looked so beautiful when he was still by her side.
For a while, she continued to sing, as though offering the song to someone far away, until her heart felt content.
After wiping the traces of tears from the corners of her eyes, the girl lifted her gaze to the moon once more, this time with a wide smile upon her lips. The burden in her heart felt lighter, if only for a moment.
I hope… time will pass quickly, so that we may meet again soon…
Author notes:
Thank you very much to everyone who has read this novel all the way to its latest chapter. As a beginner, I am fully aware that this story still has many shortcomings in various aspects. To be honest, I was hoping to receive more feedback and criticism so that I could continue to improve, but well… that is how it is. 😔
After finishing this chapter, I need to take a short break due to burnout. I am not sure when I will be able to return to this novel. It could be in a week, a month, a year, or perhaps not at all. I truly do not know yet.
However, if many of you wish for this story to continue, I will do my best to resume writing it as soon as I can.
Once again, thank you for all your support, and I sincerely apologize for everything. 😊
