Chapter 1:
The Stranger's Eyes
Her slow breathing filled the quiet room. After seventeen slow minutes, she finally turned back, revealing her face. Her beauty remained motionless as the evening sun highlighted her doll-like features. An annoying tune started blasting, causing the Angel to wake up and search for her handbag.
Angel wiped her eyes and brought the phone to her ear. "Hello, Anna."
She listened to the muffled voice on the other end as she released a slow yawn. "Yeah? Well, good for you. Because I did terrible."
Sleep slowly faded from her eyes but her voice stayed soft and delicate. "I don't know. It wasn't even that hard, I just... panicked."
As she listened, she started twirling her hair, staring at the ceiling. Suddenly, she pulled herself up, sitting upright.
"Anna! Speaking of scary... The weirdest thing happened yesterday," she said as she shifted to a sober tone.
"Well, you know, I was taking the train, as usual. And the guy sitting in front of me kept staring at me!" she said, her slender fingers tightening around the phone.Angel shook her head, her bangs swaying in an intoxicating rhythm, "No! It wasn't the typical gaze. His eyes were so... disturbing. He didn't even blink." Though exaggerated, she did remember every little detail of that fateful day.
She scoffed, "The Maths teacher? He's nothing compared to this guy."
"Exactly! He looked like one of those psycho villains!" she said, agreeing to whatever comment Anna made. She shuddered as a bead of sweat slid down her forehead. "Honestly, even thinking about it is freaking me out."
"Iris!" The voice of a mature woman echoed from downstairs.
"Coming, Mom!" Angel shouted back at the closed door.
"Hey, I'll talk to you later. Bye."
The Angel—no, Iris—rose to her feet. Her gaze, drifting toward the door, stopped midway at the closet. As she got closer, with a confused look, a familiar scent grew stronger. Then, she froze, her eyes locked on the closet.
Slowly, her pupils dilated. The phone slipped from her hand, thudding against the floor. As her breath grew shallow, her face twisted in fear and disgust. Her body trembled as a scream of horror escaped her mouth.I couldn't help but chuckle as our eyes met. Warmth crawled under my skin. Ah, the bliss of being noticed... by my Angel.
