Chapter 0:

Prologue

Alone, At Last

Everyone believes the cat is cruel.

That it toys with the mouse out of boredom, drags the game longer than necessary, enjoys the chase, the inevitable end.

They’re wrong.

The cat plays because it is certain it will win.

And the mouse runs because it has no choice.

However, the line between mouse and cat is very blury. The hunter sometimes becomes the hunted, the prey sometimes learns the rules better than the player who wrote them.

Do you think you know who is the mouse?

Do you think you know who is the cat?

So I ask you, reader: when the chase ends, who will you see? The mouse who was forced to turn around and face his hunter… or the cat who did everything without a hint of remorse?
