Chapter 6:

Shogyozun, Gyoza

Gourmon: Encyclopedia Gastronomia

Flavor Profile: Salty, Umami

Shogyozun is another somewhat tall Gourmon, though it isn’t immediately clear. They are dressed in a blue hakama and kimono. They rest in a leaned back pose. They only have one arm, their left arm. On the right side, the kimono sleeve hangs loosely. Rested to its left is a long scallion sword.

The right side of Shogyozun is scarred and seared a caramel brown. It has a light, doughy face aside from the scarring, and sharp, intense eyes. It only has its left eye open, the right eye is closed with a scar. At the back of the head is a top knot with a large Gyoza settled on it like a ponytail. The right side of it is caramelized.

Shogyozun put up a relaxed facade, but they are ever vigilant, ready to strike at a moments notice. Opponents that do not respect its vigilance will meet a swift end.

This Gourmon was the suggestion of a friend, one that I jumped on. It took a while to come up with a design I was satisfied with, but it turned out great. The name comes from Shogun and Gyoza.

Gyoza, also sometimes called potstickers, is a Japanese dish based on a Chinese style of dumplings. Instead of being boiled, they are seared on one side and served with a dipping sauce.

This is another one that I’d love to share a recipe for. Further research needed.
