Fire vs Wind

There were a total of 12 fighters in total counting me, I already defeated one of them and there was no losing track to keep fighting in case you got out, it was just the one winning that stand and the others or they left or kept watching.

I could see the other fighter’s style but it was not helpful since some of them happened really fast or just show a few of tricks, the ones being important was, Kirin, a water user, Sagato, a fire user, Gen, another water user, and Yosuke, an electricity user, the most dangerous of all dues to his power, those five along me were the ones stepping into the second match.

For now, I was being called to the ring again, my opponent, Sagato.

A fire user, if I recall correctly his opponent was a rock user, it would be pretty hard to fight against him depending on how things go but if I manage to not let her flames touch me…

There was no further explanation needed, the ball ring and I was ready, the fire user lit up his feet and hands while I looked at him, he wasn’t going to wait for me either though, he punched the air and the fire punch hit me.

“1 POINT!”

That counts as a punch…

He threw another punch and this time I moved my hand to extinguish the flames, it worked up and I smiled, I approached in a not so fast way to get him in my range, he kept throwing punches and when I was about to get close, the punch that he threw was different.

I tried to extinguish it but it was too strong and the flame hit me again in my face, I moved my head from left to right and looked at him, he was smiling now, doing little jumps as if he just finished warming up.

“1 POINT!”

Then he started to throw a series of punches and kicks, the kicks had a different pattern, while punches were like fireballs, kicks were lines of fire, I ran and evaded the punches, trying to figure out a way to enter in the range of Sagato.

I needed to get close since my attacks were more upfront, but maybe I could do something similar to him. While I was running, I kept wind in my hand and covered the sound with my own pace. The guy seemed like dancing while throwing his moves.

But then I saw my chance, when he was about to spin to do a kick I stopped and punched the air, the fire was extinguished, that probably was a weak throw and that air hit him in the back, making him lose a bit of balance.

“1 POINT!”

Then I impulse myself to him and he grabbed me around the half of my body, he threw me against the ring, letting my back expose, but then I put my hands and feet up, making myself hit the guy with my back and head in his chest and head.

I got out before he could grab me and then I heard the referee.

“2 POINTS, SAGATO, 4 POINTS KAZEKI”

The guy touched his chin and took a deep breath, I took a deep breath also and exhaled while going fast against Sagato, he stopped trying to get distance and only threw a few attacks before meeting me face to face, in there, we started to have a more traditional fight.

He threw jabs and kicks around while using the fire to burn me, but I didn’t let my guard down, I managed to evade all his attacks, making myself go back and front with the wind and then try to connect a punch.

Unfortunately, none of my attacks were connected, we were doing a pretty intense dance where the first one in being punched will break the rhythm of the other, the sound of the flames and wind could be heard echoing the room while the sparks and the wind were making us sweat a ton.

Both of us were smiling to one another, we were enjoying this but, while this was fun, we weren’t playing. The guy grabbed my arm and I could feel the heat going across, I let out a groan in pain and hit the guy’s leg.

He didn’t let me go, and making him trip was maybe a bad idea, he took advantage of it and fell on my body. This time he stopped taking my arm and now grabbed me entirely, pressing my body against his with a ton of force while slowly standing up.

He was big after all, so it was no problem for picking up a lightweight like me, while I contain my screams, I made myself explode, the same explosion that I made in my room, this time used as a defense, the guy let me go and hit the strings of the ring while I fall in the ring a bit exhausted.

I looked at him and ran towards him while there was a bit of aftershock in him.

“6 POINTS SAGATO, 1 POINT KAZEKI!”

I threw a kick but Sagato grabbed it, just as I anticipated, I used the momentum to use wind in my other leg and fly, falling on his shoulders and giving him a good kick in the back, then I flew and punched him again on it.

“2 POINTS KAZEKI”

I was breathing badly, so was he, I swallow saliva and look at Sagato in the eyes, I rush towards him again but in my final step, I concentrate wind in my feet and flew towards him, this time, at the side of him, I took his arm and make him touch the ring, making my own body hit the ring.

My back hurt from the impact but so was he. I got up and while in shock, I started to punch him in the face until he made his own body burst into flames. I felt how the temperature was increasing so I managed to get out before it caught me completely.

But it did burn me too.

“2 POINTS SAGATO, 6 POINTS KAZEKI”

I felt I was about to hit my limit. This guy was good, and now his entire body was emanating flames, I cannot rush him like before, I took deep breaths while walking but he saw how tired I was so he was the one rushing this time.

Using his own flames to have a boost and punch me, this time I had to block, I couldn’t stand giving him more points either, but it did hurt, it was very hot, his punches and his body, it was making me sweat a ton.

I had to risk it anyway, but I did have a plan.

“1 POINT!”

I lowered my arm and with the other I threw a punch, as expected, the guy wanted to follow up but I shot a small air punch, breaking his pace, and now I spin giving him a kick in his abdomen, my leg was being burned but that didn’t matter now.

I managed to make him lose more balance and I was ready to give him more punches, but then, his entire body turned off the flames, he fell on his knees and started to breathe badly, sweating a ton, he was trying to get up but every time he tried he fell again.

“DUE TO COMPLICATIONS, SAGATO CANNOT CONTINUE, THE WINNER IS KAZEKI REN!”

I took deep breaths and now I understood what happened. The guy didn’t measure his own power, he shouldn’t have gone into that state, his body cannot stand it, the heat must have made him go dizzy and losing that much water would be his end.

I approached him and while catching my breath I extended my hand.

“That was fun, you are really tough…”

The guy punched the ring and closed his eyes, he took my hand and smiled at me.

“You are not bad kid, consider yourself lucky…”

The guy left the ring and so did I, along with a medic, when I got into the seats with the rest, they started to give me first aid and I was hydrating myself.

“You think you can continue? Ren”

“I must, Yuki, is not a matter of thought or want, is a must…”

“The burns were not that serious but you are still injured, once the combat is over please come to us to treat you better, this is just a warning from us medics, but try to not force yourself… we know is impossible but, try it”

I nodded at the medic and he left. I looked at the next match that was about to happen, but I couldn’t look.

“Try to get some rest, kid, that was a pretty intense fight, you got me pumped up”

“Are you sure, Yoru?”

“Yeah, good job, kid, you earned it”

“Heh… Thanks”
