Chapter 5:
Dear Diary, I Just Want A Picture Of The Moon
Dear Diary,
My job search today resulted in futile... I tried to apply for a job online for a front desk position at a place a couple cities over. It's a local city position too. Got an email stating they received my application and resume. Then got another email stating I didn't get accepted to the interview process. This was within a minute by the way. I guess I wasn't the preferred candidate. I don't know what caused it and there was no line mentioning to contact them if the applicant wishes to request feedback. So back to square one. But.. you know what. That's alright. It's only day 1. It's normal for the job search to not conclude right away. It'll get better, right? Right?
I didn't really go outside the neighborhood today because... I just need to marinate in my thoughts. And you know, I gotta take care of Luna, who is currently using my lap as her mattress after finishing her meal. Thanh is out with her co-workers and Yenny is out on an anniversary date with her girlfriend. So I have the house to myself.
To cool myself down on this cool, soft breezy night, I decided to go outside with a leashed-n-sweatered Luna and try to take another Moon photo on my phone.
I mean, Thanh did tell me to go outside. Granted it was code for "please go outside and exercise or be social or whatever". But I was technically outside as in outside our house and standing in the middle of the cul-de-sac road where our house resides in. The stars are still kinda visible amidst the California smog-permeating sky. As for the subject itself, it is shining bright with a soft halo-like hue circling around it. I'm in a somewhat dark spot where I can steady my phone. I had to do it in one hand because Luna, despite wearing boots, did not want them to touch the road so I'm holding her in my left arm like a log. I turned off the flash. I have the "3x optical zoom" locked and loaded on the Moon.
But something happened. For a brief moment, I saw the thinnest sliver of a water-clear line rush across the Moon, brushing some clouds away in the process.
"What the-"
Suddenly, my screen went black.
"No."
Wait, did I forget to lower the exposure? Or was there something in the guide from the tech page I forgot about? Was night mode on there? I pressed my thumb on the power button, hoping it would turn back on with ease.
But alas, it happened again. Dead battery.
I could have sworn I charged my battery 100% yesterday. I need to make this right.
As I am writing this, my phone is currently charging and I'm going to sleep in a bit. Luna's not bumping her head against my notebook but has now decided to sleep on her sage green bed that I washed today. I'll have to continue my efforts in the job market and my Moon photography hobby another time.
Maybe a trip to The Twin Whales would suffice. I'll catch up with you next time.
Your friend who seriously either needs to charge her phone diligently or needs a new one,
Bich
