"You will all be tested sooner than expected. Discipline must be measured, whether quietly or by force," The Professor said.
Tested? I pondered her words silently, which brought some conclusions. Her vague words matched her ominous aura.
She walked calmly out of the classroom. Her heels clicked gracefully and measured as her silhouette disappeared.
"Who the heck Farted?!" A Student shouted. He quickly stood up, his voice like a loud siren to our hearing. His chair creaked back loudly. For a moment, he gained everyone's attention. All eyes stare silently. Some students were straining their necks to get a better look.
"Your stench nearly killed me! I need an explanation, or someone will pay!" His eyebrows furrowed in aggression. His teeth gritted with rolled fists. He punched his desk with a loud 'BAM!'. "Speak up or else!" his eyes scanned he class as if to sniff out the perpetrator.
Was he expecting the culprit to voluntarily raise their hand willingly? And if he tried intimidating everyone with such aggression, wouldn't he think that half of class E would gang up on him? Moreover, the other quarter of students didn't seem like they could throw a punch.
Silence lingered in the air, momentarily drawn out by the sudden chatter among the students as all eyes drifted away, each tending to its own business.
Damn. Well, that's that.
Students began conversing with one another, rearranging the classroom furniture as they peered up into groups. The loud cries of the chairs made me feel slightly remorseful. Although they were desks and chairs made from iron steel. I wonder where the females got their strength from.
A girl, pulling her chair, her hair short and dark colored. Earrings inside her earlobe, which symbolize, goth? Chick? Whatever it is. She reached her destination among a group of females. She stopped and began panting sarcastically as if she was out of energy. Her expression feigning slight exhaustion, her hand removing sweat from her forehead, which wasn't there. Maybe she was trying to blend in with others who have a similar vibe.
It was natural that personalities similar to and common with each other would be drawn together.
She took her seat and began talking with her chosen group of girls, interacting smoothly. Their vibe became daunting. If anyone approached them, they probably would embarrass them on the spot. After a short while, A male walked over to them. He smiled gently as he greeted them calmly.
One second. Two seconds. Three seconds. I was counting at random as I watched from my seat.
Most of the girls among the group began feeling flustered, one of them on the verge of lashing out due to his constant introductions and attention-seeking. Disinterest and scorn marked on their faces as the boy didn't make any attempts to move. It seems to be a group of rough females where outsiders are kept out. My my, I sighed, imagining the pain.
One of the flustered girls immediately made eye contact and shot him an icy glare, which meant 'leave.' His expression turned disheartened, and he turned on his heel.
The girls all exhaled a sigh of relief as the male left.
The boy walked away, joining another group of only males. He greeted them gently as he had before with the girls. However group of males returned with the friendliest of smiles as they engaged in conversation.
I glanced outside the window beside me. A large bird spreads its wings as it soars in the air, a bit nearer in view. It carries a large rodent inside its beak. Its gaze was focused and intense while it flew past somewhat within the school.
Hold on a moment. Was that actually an eagle? It resembled the majestic creatures showcased in wildlife documentaries, which always depict the raw truths of nature with stunning accuracy. Witnessing the lifeless rodent clutched in the eagle's beak sent a shiver down my spine, a stark reminder that my future at this school was about to take a much darker turn.
In terms of mutual greetings, I was the least interested. The serene tranquility was better, but in time, mutual word exchange will come.
Gazing at the clouds through the window, the cool wind soothing my face, a faint smirk crept at the corner of my mouth.
What nice sereness.
"Hey"
"...."
"Hello?"
"..."
A sudden sound startled me from my peaceful contemplation as I gazed out the window, initially thinking it was just background noise.
"..."
The knocking got louder and persistent, determined for attention.
"Agati!"
"Hm?"
My gaze lands on a hand, knocking furiously on my desk, which was traced to the face of a young woman who leaned slightly from her chair to my desk.
"What is it?"
"Are you hard of hearing?"
"You were calling?"
"For about five minutes now. Did you hear me? Knocking on your desk."
"Suppose I told you that I only heard the breeze until the knocking reached me, would you believe me?"
She pulled her hand away from my desk and sat up straight in her chair. Her expression was calm, and her eyes remained fixed on me, revealing a sense of wariness while glancing at the book on her desk.
"Do you know what the teacher meant by 'being tested?'"
"I assumed she meant by taking an examination, but otherwise I have no clue."
She turned her head toward me, her gaze narrowing as our eyes met, and a warm smile spread across her face.
"Im Mika Aozora"
"I am Cod-"
As I began my introduction, she spoke up immediately, causing my small speech to pause.
"Cody Agati," Mika said politely.
"How did you-"
Wait. I quickly glanced at the name on my desk, which said - Cody Agati.
Oh. Reasonable.Hmmm...The Bell rang, signaling break time.
I stood up. Gazing through the window, gathered my belongings together and placed them in my bag. I placed the strap over my shoulder and slowly strode out with the rest of the students who were leaving.
"Agati."
A soft, inviting voice called out from behind me, pulling me from my thoughts. I turned slightly to glance over my shoulder, and in that moment, my heart raced at the sight of her. Her smile lit up the dim surroundings, and I felt an undeniable connection that set my pulse racing.
