Chapter 18 : Purple's Beginning

The year is 2007, 3 years after the disastrous event of Beast Wave 0.5 after wiping out 40% of the human population. Most of the world felt like it was on it’s apocalyptic period, with many clinging onto life with whatever resources or materials they could use to keep them alive.

Many nations were struggling, some were unaffected, while some stayed strong, giving rations and any kind of donations to help the affected civilians.

In Russia, the streets were basically a purge, with many killing others for survival, some taking drugs and dangerous substances to avoid reality.

A man walks through the streets of Novosibirsk, wearing a long, grey coat with a turtle-neck inside, as well as black boots. He seems out of place with the environment around him, as some were puking in a barrel, lying on the side of the road, using a cardboard box as a home. The city of Novosibirsk was in ruins due to the recent events of humans fighting against beasts.

The man steps into an alleyway, entering a door on the side, where he's greeted by armed people wearing black clothing, with gun straps wrapped around their bodies, holding assault rifles.

It was a small room, but in the middle, across the entrance, was a hallway leading downstairs.

“Hello.”
The man spoke with a greeting smile.

“What are you here for?”
One of the armed men replied.

“I’m here for a transaction.”
The man replied, maintaining a firm and formal tone.

“Hm.”
The armed men hummed before looking back at the other men and whispering something to them.
”Get ____, one of his customers are here.”

The name was inaudible, but it seemed like someone who takes control of the area, or maybe someone of importance.

“Please wait here.”
The armed men spoke to the man again.

The man stood still, still having a smile on his face to make a good impression with the armed men who were surrounding him incase of any threats or danger the man might do.

Not long after, a man wearing a lab coat and glasses would be seen walking through the hallway right across from where the man was already facing, it seemed like a professor or a scientist.

“Ah, you must be Gloraski.”
The scientist spoke from a distance with an armed guard behind him wearing a full military suit with a war mask.

“Yes, you must be the professor. I am honoured to meet you.”
Gloraski bowed gently, with the armed men slightly startled from the sudden movement.

“No need for formal introductions, Gloraski. Let us not waste any time with our transaction.”
The scientist replied, setting his arms aside towards his back to seem more professional.
”Come, I’ll bring you to our collection.”
He added.

Gloraski walked forward, approaching the professor before the two walked together through the hallway with an armoured guard behind them.

“So, what are you in search of?”
The scientist asked, his voice was enthusiastic.

“Any kid with unique physical traits, but if I were specific, one with a unique colour of eyes.”
Gloraski answered with a formal yet calm voice.

“Ah, we don’t have much of those, but it wouldn’t hurt to turn them into one.”
The scientist replied, his aura and energy becoming more sinister the more he spoke.

“There is no need for that, professor.”
Gloraski reassured.

“Well then, I’ll get you your product then.”
The scientist spoke before leaning backwards to the armoured guard behind them.
”Take out Subject 49486B from the vault. Keep her handcuffed.”
The armoured guard nodded, before quickly walking deeper into the hallway they were in.

“Why don’t we have some tea while we wait, Mr Gloraski?”
The scientist offered after watching the armoured men walk deeper into the hallway.

“I would love to.”
Gloraski agreed with a smile on his face.

The scientist opens the door in a lounge room, which looks like a living room with a sofa, a coffee table in the middle and a shelf filled with books on the right wall.

The two sat onto the sofa, Gloraski sitting on a coffee stool while the scientist took a seat on the sofa.

“So, Gloraski. What interested you in buying one of our ‘products’?”
The scientist asked while pouring some tea from a ceramic pitcher into a mug.

“It’s a new project my family is working on.”
Gloraski replied, keeping his eye contact with the scientist.

“Ah, I see. What is this project, if I may ask?”
The scientist curiously asked, his eyes keeping contact with Gloraski’s.

“It’s confidential, but it’s similar to Project Mixer.”
Gloraski replied, while grabbing the mug, but before he did, he smoothly dropped a green powder into the scientist’s mug.

“I see, it seems like your family has gotten themselves invested in the future of humanity.”
The scientist took a sip of the tea.

“It seems so. This ‘product’ of yours will be our first subject to test on.”
Gloraski said, keeping his eye contact with the scientist while holding his mug firmly.

The scientist sets the mug aside after taking a tip, before coughing.
COUGHS “Mhm… she’d be a great subject to test on. Please, be my guest and use her efficiently.”

Gloraksi nodded.

The scientist’s stomach suddenly growls loud_ly_.
”Ah, forgive me. It seems that I’ve eaten quite a lot earlier before our meeting.”
The scientist stood up, walking towards the door.
”Please, excuse me for a moment. I’ll be back.”

Before the scientist could even twist the doorknob to go to the bathroom, Gloraski already had him at gunpoint at his head as the scientist froze.

“You’ve been of great use, professor. But Project Mixer is a devil’s wish.”
Gloraski spoke, having his gun pointed directly at the scientist’s head.
”Reviving the Soviet Union? Using children as test subjects by merging them with beasts? Creating a ‘Hybrid’ army? You must be sick in the head, professor.”

The scientist looked back at Gloraski.
”Ah, I see. You’re with DATA, aren’t you?”

Gloraski didn’t reply; he kept himself firm and steady, keeping his gun pointed at the scientist’s head. His expression is the complete opposite of what it was earlier, when they first met; it was cold, filled with anger, and his eyebrows were furrowed.

“Kill me then, I’d like to see how your puny gun could handle my army.”
The scientist spoke with a smirk.

“It’ll be my honour to.”
Gloraski replied before immediately pulling the trigger into the scientist’s head.
