The road away from home

The bakery shop door opened, and the bell above the door rang softly.

Clinkkk—

“ Welcome, the shop”, the bakery owner said.

A female customer came inside a bakery shop. Her eyes were looking at the pastries.

“ Hmmm …

Such cute and good- looking pastries. Please pack two cat shaped vanilla pastries.”

“Of course mam,” the owner said. After packing the pastries, the female owner asked. “ Anything else mam?.”

“No,” the female customer replied. “Please, this order was delivered to my address.” She handed over a slip with the address written on it, and then she left the bakery shop.

“Thank you for coming.” the female owner said.

Then, the female owner put her hand on the desk.

“ Wake uppp, Renn!”. She said loudly.

In the messy room , Ren woke up, “ Hmm… What time is it now?”

He grabbed the clock and checked the time .

“1:41…

Ahh, I have more time to sleep. 

Aaahh~ Let's sleep a little bit more.” 

He lay back down on the bed and closed his eyes.

His mom shouts again from downstairs.

“ Ren! Come down quickly! There's a delivery order — go and deliver it to the customer address! And if you don't come down in 5 minutes, I'll come up!”

Ren painckly wakes up on the bed. “ I'm c-coming, mom.” he said. Ren rushed down the stairs, halfway down, still wearing socks on his feet.

His mother gives him the packed pastries and the delivery slip with the address.

“ Delivered the package safely and didn't lose — control on your power.”

“ Okayy — mom, and I promised I won't make any mistakes on this delivery.” Ren replied.

Ren takes the parcel and leaves the shop. Outside the shop, his bicycle is standing there. He takes his bicycle and goes to make the delivery.

While cycling, Ren opens the slip and looks at the address written on it. “ Let's see the address, 12 - 8 Midori Street. Aaahhh, it's too far.”

Ren was cycling bicycle going towards the delivery address, when an uncomfortable truck suddenly passed him. He barely managed to avoid getting hit and used the brakes, stopping his bicycle.

“ Are you blind!Who drives so recklessly on public roads!”

Then, Ren notices the truck turning towards the elementary school side.

( If he keeps driving like this… he probably could hit one of the elementary school kids.) Ren thinks.

Without hesitation and wasting any time of thinking, Ren pedals his bicycle and chases after the truck at full speed.

Ren pedals his bicycle at full speed, but he can't reach the truck side. Because the truck is moving too fast, weaving very dangerously between other cars on the road.

( I have no choice…

I have to use my power!, to reach the truck speed.) Ren thinks.

Then Ren uses his power.

Energy gathered around his legs, glowing and powerful. He kicked pedals again, his bicycle moved forward, moving at incredible speed.

Ren speeds past every car on the road, closing the distance toward the truck. Suddenly, another car came from the opposite road side.

The car driver's eyes widen in shock when he sees a boy on a bicycle coming toward him at insane speed.

“W- What the — ?”

In panic, he hit the brakes.

But Ren does not slow down his bicycle.

But instead, he forces the more energy into his legs and launches the bicycle into the air. The bicycle jumps over the car, flying above it. 

The car driver was shocked to see the impossible jump.

Ren lands smoothly on the road and keeps moving toward without stopping. In just a few seconds later, Ren finally reaches the truck.

Ren caught up to the truck and knocked on the door.

THUD — THUD —!!

“ Hey! —

What are you doing, sir?!Please control your truck!” Ren said.

Ren looked through the window — he saw, the truck driver was unconscious.

At the same moment, Ren noticed something even worse.

On the other side of the road, many elementary school kids were crossing the road.

“Damn it…!”

Then, Ren tried to open the truck door, but the truck door was locked and didn't open it. 

The truck suddenly moved toward Ren and hit his bicycle, throwing him off balance — but he managed to regain control again.

The truck didn't slow down and went straight toward the elementary school kids.

Ren's bicycle chain was slipping and the truck almost reached the elementary kids' side.

Without thinking, Ren used his power. Energy leaked from his body as he jumped off his bicycle — launching himself forward to the truck side.

He almost reached the truck — but suddenly a sharp pain hit his head. 

Ren lost control and failed to stop the truck and flew past the truck instead.

The truck almost  was about to hit the elementary kids —

Suddenly, a hero appeared in front of elementary kids.

He slammed his hand into the ground. A huge cloud type slime comes out from the hero's hand.

The truck directly crashed into the slime, and it stopped instantly without any injuries.

On the other side, Ren was still moving at full speed.

He hit an electric pole — but the area stretched like rubber and saved him from serious injuries.

“ H- Heehhh —”

“ Kids these days think they are expert heroes — and jump into danger without thinking.” This sound comes from the top of a nearby building.

A female hero was sitting there.

She stood up — and jumped from the building.

She landed on the ground, but the area turned soft like rubber and absorbed the falling impact.

She had blonde hair and beautiful eyes. 

The female hero walked toward Ren and gently extended her hand to him. Ren took her hand and slowly pulled himself up.

“ T-Thank you…” Ren said.

The female hero said, “ Next time you see something dangerous, call the police or hero first — and don't try to handle it by yourself.”

After a few moments, an ambulance also arrived at the accident scene.

Both Ren and the female hero walked toward the male hero's side.

The female hero asked, “ what happened to the driver, any guess ?”

The male hero replied, “ It seems the driver's health suddenly got worse — hmm, that's probably why he lost control of the truck.”

Then the medics came and carefully lifted the driver and took him  toward the ambulance. Both heroes and Ren go to the driver side to talk about his health conditions.

“ Sir, now are you feeling alright”, the female hero asked.

The driver says.

“ Some unknown people… did something to me and my health became worse, and I lost my consciousness. 

Then the medics took the driver to the hospital.

The male hero said. “ There's likely a terrorist association behind this incident.

Ren looked confused.

“ Terrorist association ?  — what is their motive to do something like this?” he asked.

The female hero placed a hand on Ren's shoulder. “ This isn't something a normal child should worry about,” she said. 

Then, Ren suddenly remembered.

“ My bicycle!”

He turned and ran toward the bicycle side.

Behind him, the female hero raised her hand and waved.

“ B-Byee — take care of yourself.”

Ren said, “ Thank youuu —”

Then Ren reached his bicycle. The bicycle was fine — but when he looked at the pastry box, it was completely destroyed.

“Aahhh… how i explained it to mom.”

Scene change.

Ren stands inside a public phone booth. He explained everything that had happened to his mom — After that he came out of the phone booth and took his cycle and walked toward home.

Ren was going home, when his attention was going toward the T.V shop.

In news a female anchor said,“ Admission for JPW Academy will start on April 5,”

Then, Ren started walking again and after a while, he reached his home and the evening was already settling down.

He opened the shop door and said, “ I am back.”

From the kitchen, his mother said. “ Dinner is ready, come from dinner Ren.”

Ren goes for dinner and eats with his mom and dad. After finishing their meals, his mom says, " Thanks to your dad, the delivery managed on time."

Then his dad placed something in front of Ren.

“Here,” his dad said. “ JPW Academy admission form, me and your mom decided to give you an entrance exam for admission.”

Ren looked surprised. “Mom… Dad…. I am not ready for this!”

His mom says, “ Ren…chances like this don't always come.”

Ren says, “ please… give me some time to think.”

He stood up and walked to his room, sitting on his bed, he looked at the entrance form. This entrance exam form… it would decide his future.
