Chapter 31:

The first spark

Tatva- The Awakening of Elements

The wind over Surya Gram carried the sweet scent of ripened wheat—until, without warning, it shifted.Heat rolled across the fields like a silent wave. Birds fled the treetops in frantic spirals. The animals’ cries rose, then died into an eerie stillness.
Then the flames erupted.
Not normal flames—these burned against the wind, rising upward like living tendrils. From within them, shapes formed—half-born fire creatures, their bodies unstable, as if stitched from molten feathers and raw anger.
Villagers ran for the ashram, shouting for help.

---
Ashram of Guru Parshu
Kedar sat alone outside the meditation hall, staring at his hands.Even weeks after the battle with the Mirage Prince, faint tremors still came—ghosts of illusions that clawed at his nerves.
He hardly noticed the panicked footsteps until they stopped in front of Guru Parshu.
> “Master! The eastern fields—spirits of fire—nothing stops them!”

Parshu listened without blinking. The old sage tapped his staff once on the ground. The air itself steadied, as if obeying him.
He turned—not to Kedar—but to Shakti and Aryan.
> “You two will go.”

Kedar’s heart tightened.A part of him wanted to stand, to step forward, to say he was ready. But Parshu only raised a hand.
> “Not yet, Kedar. Your mind carries storms you cannot see.”

Kedar lowered his gaze. He knew the guru was right. He hated that the guru was right.
Shakti placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder as she passed.
> “Rest. We’ll return before dusk.”

Aryan gave a small smile, lifting his drone.
> “It’s just fire anomalies. We’ll handle it.”

But Parshu’s eyes…They were fixed on the horizon, as though he sensed something ancient waking beneath the flames.

---
The Fields of Surya Gram
When Shakti and Aryan arrived, the farmland looked like a battlefield.Ash floated like grey snow.Heat shimmered from the earth.
Aryan’s drone hummed overhead, gathering readings.
> “Fire Prana density… extremely abnormal. Something is pushing these spirits into existence.”

Shakti tightened her grip on her aura-spear.
> “Beasts with no core are unstable. That makes them unpredictable.”

Suddenly—A dozen fire-creatures leapt from the scorched soil, shrieking like burning metal.Shakti rushed into the fight, movements sharp and precise.
Aryan supported from behind:
Disrupting fire flows
Freezing unstable Prana
Redirecting pathways to collapse the creatures

It took minutes—but it felt like an hour. When the last spirit dissolved into sparks, they both exhaled.
> “The source is still active,” Aryan muttered, checking his tablet.“It’s deeper in the fields.”

Shakti nodded.
> “Then we push on.”

---
The Unseen Presence
As they walked, the wind suddenly shifted.
Cold wind.
In a burning field.
Shakti froze mid-step.
> “Aryan… did you feel that?”

He nodded, swallowing. His scanner glitched—static lines, distorted readings.
Then—
A gust swept past them.Not random.Not natural.
It carried two faint sensations:
1. Wind Prana

2. Another element layered beneath it—something warm yet divine

Shakti instinctively raised her spear.
> “Who’s there?!”

The fields answered only with crackling flame.
But for a split second, Aryan saw something at the corner of his eye—A shadow, tall and broad-shouldered, outlined briefly by swirling ash. Then gone.
> “Shakti… someone is here. Something.”

Shakti’s jaw tightened.
> “Whatever it is—it’s not a fire spirit.”

They slowly retreated, not daring to turn their backs. It wasn’t fear—It was instinct.A predator’s presence.Watching.Measuring.
When they finally reached the village boundary, Aryan sent a message to the ashram.
> “Guruji. Something is wrong. It’s not fire spirits alone. We sensed… a presence. Powerful.”

---
Back at the Ashram
Guru Parshu listened to the report in absolute silence.
When Aryan said the words “wind mixed with fire”, Parshu’s eyes widened—just slightly—but enough to make the other disciples glance at each other.
The guru whispered under his breath:
> “So… after all these years… that Prana returns.”

Kedar approached, confused.
> “Guruji? What does it mean?”

Parshu didn’t answer directly. He placed a hand on Kedar’s shoulder.
> “Rest time is over. You leave at dawn.”

Kedar blinked.
> “For the mission?”

Parshu looked toward the burning horizon.
> “No, child.For destiny.”
