Dearest reader,

Forgive me, for I have taken the floor from our gentle narrator, Akito Itabashi. Allow me to introduce myself. Yours truly goes by Braz Cubas, cadaver, former aristocrat, and, casually, immortal as well. At the moment, however, I am forced to write through the hands of another, for posterity’s sake.

Alas, I stand defeated. Everything would have worked out if it weren't for those meddling kids. However, I must admit, life as a head isn't so bad. Akashi made sure I could admire the cherry blossoms through the window. What a nice guy.

He and Akito have formed an official partnership to hunt Apparitions... Who would have thought? At least they're happy…

I see them training sometimes, and I think about how things could have been different. Or not. I can't deny that I still want to destroy those bastards and become the most powerful Apparition in the world. However, I am a realist. Right now, I'm happy enough when they take that damn bomb-paper out of my mouth and ask me to tell stories from hundreds of years ago, which may or may not have given rise to the Apparitions they face.

But the truth about Basil Halberd... That's what I want to see them try getting out of me. I know that's why Akashi kept me alive. I can't wait...

Finally, I would like to express my eternal hatred for meddling kids' spring breaks. After all, who knows? Maybe, dear reader, even you could prevent the end of the world by leaving your home in your free time.
