Chapter 10:
Bintchoo To Kukuru
The hospital. A beep, A monitor portraying someone's heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, and oxygen levels. All seeming normal. A girl could be heard crying. A young girl, black hair reaching halfway down her back. She hung close to a woman who towered over her, her mother. On the bed was an old man, his breathing raspy, and unnerving. “Don't cry Hiroko. This is not the end, I will reach Nirvana.” the old man said. Young Hiroko looked up, and at the old man. “Nirvana.” she said quietly.
The Akuma stood in front of Yuna, and laughed. Yuna threw her hands together, and made a ball of water, and shot it at the Akuma. It slashed a blade through it, and lunged at Yuna, thrusting it at her. Yuna managed to dodge, a ball of water formed into her hand, and Yuna slammed the water into the Akuma’s side. “What a waste.” the Akuma said, slapping Yuna. Yuna stumbled back, and got kicked onto her back by the Akuma, who then leaped into the air, and created a ball of darkness, and shot it at Yuna. Yuna shot off another ball of water, impacting the darkness, destroying the attack. Yuna got onto her feet, and got kneed in her gut by the Akuma, who then grabbed Yuna’s hair, and threw her onto the ground. It stomped onto the ground, trying to crush Yuna, but she kept dodging. Yuna rolled onto her knees, and the Akuma swung the blade at Yuna, tearing into her calf. Yuna groaned in pain, but bit her lip, and threw a punch into the Akuma’s cheek. It took a step back to take a breath. “I’ll give you credit, you are a dedicated one. I truly think you would be a greater vessel than this worthless body. If only.” the Akuma said. “Shut up, and give me my friend back.” Yuna said. “You are stupidly stubborn. Shut up, and die.” the Akuma said, throwing several blades at Yuna. Yuna dodged several of them, but the wound in her calf made her unable to dodge everything, and a blade gazed the side of her upper body. A blade threw at her face, and Ramon showed up, sliding in front of Yuna, and grabbing the blade. “Come on Yusuke, stop sitting around!” Ramon yelled out. Lightning flashed past the Akuma, and hit its side.
10 years ago. Hiroko was slapped onto the ground. “Get it right. Stop fooling around.” an old man yelled. “Yes grandpa.” Hiroko said, getting onto her feet. She grabbed a book, and started to read from it, a chant. “Bodhisattva, Bodhisattva, grab me, and pull me along. Seeing the beauty of the world, and the freedom of N-.” Hiroko said, but she stumbled at the last word. Her grandpa smacked the back of her head. “Stop stumbling, it’s not that difficult.” he said. “Yes grandpa.” Hiroko said. Afterwards she found herself in her room. Empty, and barren. She could hear voices from her room. “Calm down please.” her mother said. “You act like this is normal, it’s not. She can’t even pronounce the word Nirvana. She needs to come with me so I can train her.” her grandfather said. “You are being too hard on her, she is just a child.” her mother said. “I will not. I was too lenient on you and you turned out a failure, I chose not to let her be a failure.” her grandfather said. “How am I a failure? Because I care about people, because I have connections, and show love to my family, I am a failure?” her mother asked. “Yes.” her grandfather said. Hiroko started to cry, tears fell down her cheeks onto her carpet.
Sweat fell from Yuna’s forehead. “Hold your punches on her, don’t hurt her too much.” Yuna said. “If we do that we die.” Ramon said, before getting kicked in the face by the Akuma. “Yuna we can’t save her, I’m sorry.” Yusuke said. “We have to.” Yuna said, blocking a punch from the Akuma. The Akuma grabbed Yuna’s hand, threw them away, and punched Yuna in the face. “If I could I would but there isn't any way.” Yusuke said. A ball of darkness flew at Yusuke, and Yusuke created a blade of lightning, and slashed it through the darkness. Ramon went after the Akuma, a jump kick to its face, not doing any damage to it. The Akuma grabs Ramon's leg, and throws him at Yusuke, before going after Yuna, and punching her, knocking her onto the ground. Ramon slid past the Akuma and punched its face. “Relent.” the Akuma said, creating a ball of darkness, and pressed it against Ramon. Ramon lost consciousness, and fell onto the ground. The Akuma created a blade, and held it out, ready to kill Yuna, but a blade of lightning pierced its gut. The Akuma grabbed Yusuke’s head, and knocked him out, dropping him onto the ground. It took a step towards Yuna, as Yuna stood up, barely able to stand.
Hiroko was meditating. “You don’t have to listen to him.” her mother said, sitting down, and hugging her. “But I need to be better.” Hiroko said. “You are better.” her mother said. “Nir-, ni-. I just want to be someone he can be proud of.” Hiroko said. “Why do you need him to be proud of you?” her mother asked. “I just want him to like me. I want people to like me.” Hiroko said. Hiroko’s mothers phone went off, and she answered it.
Yuna was breathing heavily, she took a deep breath, and charged at the Akuma. Throwing a punch, the Akuma dodged, grabbed Yuna by the hair, and threw her into the rails of a nearby roller coaster. The electricity was still on, and electrocuted her. The Akuma appeared onto the rail, and hit Yuna 10 meters down, into the ground. Yuna tried getting onto her feet but the Akuma appeared next to Yuna, and kicked her ribs, throwing her into the air. The Akuma caught Yuna by the hair. “I’m having fun, are you?” the Akuma asked. “I’ll kill you for hurting her.” Yuna said. The Akuma chuckled, and started punching Yuna in the stomach. “Warabina, kill her, and get it over with.” a man’s voice said. It was an Akuma, the man from the field. “Shut it Nakijin. It’s been centuries since I felt the cool air of this world. Let me have fun.” the female Akuma, Warabina said. “I understand that. But I sense Rooh Hunters, powerful ones. Ones strong enough to rival a True Akuma.” the male Akuma, Nakijin said. “You aren't a real Akuma, then what are you?” Yuna asked. “Poor child, caught in a world you don’t understand.” Warabina said, kicking Yuna onto the ground. Yuna sat up, and got onto her feet as Warabina wielded a blade in her hand. “Goodbye girl. It was a pleasure to fight you.” Warabina said, walking to Yuna. Warabina swung the sword at Yuna, who ducked the attack and tackled Warabina to the ground. “No it wasn't.” Yuna said, getting on top of Warabina, and punching her. Many blades emerged from the ground, targeting Yuna, but lightning tore through them. “Stop fighting, and give her back!!” Yuna yelled out. The punches did nothing, but eventually a response came. “Yuna.” Hiroko managed to get out, wounded and weak, but still holding on. Yusuke heard Hiroko’s voice, and ran over, getting on top of Warabina with Yuna. “I don’t believe we can save her, but if we can, I will take any chance!” Yusuke yelled out.
The hospital. A beep, A monitor portraying someone's heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, and oxygen levels. All seeming normal. A girl could be heard crying. A young Hiroko, black hair reaching halfway down her back. She hung close to her mother. On the bed was her grandfather, his breathing raspy, and unnerving. “Don't cry Hiroko. This is not the end, I will reach Nirvana.” he said. Young Hiroko looked up, and at her grandfather. “Nirvana.” she said quietly. “Yes my darling.” her grandfather said. “You don’t deserve it. You have given everyone around you dukkha. A monster like you doesn’t deserve salvation!” Hiroko yelled out at her grandfather. He laughed. “So you understand. As humans we are never meant to reach Nirvana, we must take the dukkha, and give it to others, and after rebirth, and rebirth we will finally escape these husks. The very nature of humanity is dukkha. An evil breed of chaos and destruction. So no, as a human I do not deserve Nirvana, but as Qi I will escape the confines of evil, and find Nirvana. I hope to see you again, darling.” her grandfather said.
“Fight it Hiroko!” Yuna screamed out. Warabina started pushing Yusuke and Yuna off, but both of them fought back against her. Hiroko found herself laying on the ground, she stood up, and looked around. To her left was a field holding a pond, and to her right was black and chaos. Hiroko started heading to the left, then a plea. Yuna, pleading for her to return. Hiroko turned around. “Are you coming in?” a man asked. Hiroko turned around to find a man meditating in a pond. Hiroko said nothing, turning back around to chase Yuna’s voice. “Before you go, Shaku Hiroko. Take advice. If you keep making the same mistakes, you will never see this pond again.” the man said. Hiroko stopped, and looked at the man. “What mistake?” Hiroko asked. “You make many, but I guess the two most recent, cowardice, and jealousy. I thought you were trying to become enlightened?” the man asked. “I am.” Hiroko said. “Then act like it.” the man said. Hiroko heard Yuna’s voice again. “You can’t beat that monster out there, and you can’t dispel it.” the man said. “What do I do then?” Hiroko asked. “You can’t do it, but I can.” the man said. He stopped meditating, and walked to Hiroko, placing his hand on her head. A mark, an eye appeared on her forehead. “Take my wisdom, and take care child. I won’t be watching, but if you find yourself disconnected from the realms again, then I do hope I see you again.” the man said, walking back to his pond. “Boddhisatva. If that is you. Thank you.” Hiroko said. The man smiled. “I haven’t heard that name for a long time.” he said. Hiroko took a deep breath, and ran towards Yuna’s voice.
