Droplet (Part 2)

When Fuyu woke up, he found himself unable to see anything other than a small rectangle of light in the air. His hands searched the floor for anything to grab on to.

“Sis?” His voice cracked. The sound of boxes falling over could be heard.

“Fuyu!”

He began crawling towards her voice. HIs eyes had started to adjust to the light, and he noticed that there were small windows on the side of the room they were in.

“Where are we?”

Etsuko grabbed Fuyu’s arm.
“I don’t know. I really don’t know. I stepped through the doorway, and then…”

Fuyu felt a sudden urge to bash his head into the wall. He wanted to go back to bed. Honestly, anywhere but here. It didn’t help that his sister was there.

“Are you okay? You’re shaking a lot” Etsuko asked, digging her cherry painted nails into his sleeve.

He made a rush for the rectangle of light. It had to be a doorway. They were probably in the basement. Maybe, Etsuko had tripped and pulled him down with her.

He could see Etsuko pressed up against a wall. He scrambled over to her.

She held her head with her hands and began running her fingers through her hair.

When Isaac found Scarlet, she was crawling around in circles. She had somehow made it out of the hotel, but hadn’t progressed much further than that.

“Hey, are you okay?”

She turned her head towards his voice.

“Who’s there?”

“It’s Isaac, remember me?”

“Oh, right”

She fell on her face again. Isaac grabbed her shoulders and pulled her up to a standing position.

“Me and Em are rounding up survivors. Besides your eyes, do you need any medical assistance?”

“I think my brain is broken”

Isaac carried her over to Em’s truck. There were already a few people inside.

Em got out of the truck and put her hand on Isaac’s shoulder.

“I don’t think we can fit anymore. Let’s head back”

Isaac shook his head.

“No, I’m pretty sure we can fit one more in there”

She got back in the truck and slammed the door.

Zaza finally arrived at Jesse’s house. She had managed to avoid whatever that god was that was flying around. It seemed to have left Japan for now, at least.

The door was unlocked, as usual. Clothes were strewn down the steps, and a box of several random objects including a blender and a photo album sat in the middle of the floor. Yoshi had left the milk out again.

The shape on the wall was still there. Zaza nearly fell over. She felt dizzy. She made her way towards the shape, making sure to stabilize herself occasionally.

The shape was right in front of her now. It looked ROUND the room. Zaza thought it was funny.

Zaza stuck her finger into the middle of the shape, covered it in a generous serving of sap, and popped it in her mouth.
