Chapter 31:
Bintchoo To Kukuru
1611. Umitama watched as people continued to build a castle, Aragaki walked to her. “So no one has been elected king, on this island with no name.” Umitama said. “Then name it, it’s been two years. Plus I’m the King, that makes you the princess.” Aragaki said. “Right, the Aragaki finally goes from Aji to King. How long has uncle been lying to you about that?” Umitama asked. “Umi, this time it's real, I’ve talked to the villagers, and they said yes.” Agakari said. “You can’t have a Kingdom with only thirty people.” Umitama said. “So we go back to Uchina, and get more Ryukyuans.” Aragaki said. “I guess that works.” Umitama said. “Then let's go back. We leave tonight. Remember only those who need it, and aren’t associated with Nihon.” Aragaki said. “I know.” Umitama said.
The two took a boat back to Okinawa. “I’m saying this because I know you want to. Go ask the Chatan’s if they will join us.” Aragaki said. “They wont, their life is the Utaki.” Umitama said. “Fine, I'll meet you here in an hour.” Akagari said. “Good luck.” Umitama said. The two split up, and wandered around. Umitama walked through the street, dark, but the moon lit it enough to see. “Hey been a while.” Rokuro said, whispering in her ear, startling Umitama, which she responded by turning around, and punching his face. “Ah, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” Rokuro said, taking a step back, falling onto the ground. “You deserve that. Are you ok?” Umitama asked, holding out her hand to him. Rokuro grabbed her hand, and stood onto his feet. “It’s my fault.” Rokuro said. “I know.” Umitama said quietly, looking away. “Wanna go get something to eat?” Rokuro asked. “Yeah, that would be great.” Umitama said.
Rokuro took Umitama to the Izakaya, the one where he defeated Kinjo. “What are we doing here?” Umitama asked. “Well I took your advice, and got to know the people. I bought the Izakaya, and have been bringing high society to the commoners, for a cheap price.” Rokuro said. “That’s nice. Are these commoner’s Ryukyuans?” Umitama asked. “Anyone who wants food is welcome. Also we sell some great Sake.” Rokuro said. “I didn’t expect a Samurai to be a cook.” Umitama said. “I’m not a Samurai. I have followed the Bushido for a while, but I left. Now all I want is to make these people happy, and cooking helps.” Rokuro said. “Well, if you are insisting on a dinner, cook me whatever you are good at.” Umitama said. “I can make a Miso Soup, with Nanban spices, and probably a grilled fish.” Rokuro said. “Well, it sounds nice.” Umitama said.
A while later Umitama, and Rokuro were walking around the docks. “Hey, can I ask a favor?” Umitama asked. “What?” Rokuro asked. “Come to my island, teach the people how to cook?” Umitama asked. “What? Where do you live?” Rokuro asked. “South.” Umitama said. “And If I come with you then what?” Rokuro asked. “Well, I don’t know, cooking classes. You can teach me to cook, maybe you can teach me to wield that blade of yours.” Umitama said, closing the distance, and circling him. “What are you doing?” Rokuro asked. “Asking you a question.” Umitama said. “Fine, but I need to come back here once a month. I may not be a Samurai, but I still follow a code.” Rokuro said. “What code?” Umitama asked. “I’m not allowed to.” Rokuro said. “Fine, but I need to tell you this, don’t act like a Nihon, also you need to lie. You are a Ryukyun, and you took the Katana off of a Samurai.” Umitama said. “That’s a lot of work.” Rokuro said.
Agakari returned with a group of people. They boarded the boats, and left for the island. This process went on and on for a while. One night Rokuro came with, and went off on his own, Umitama followed, watching him meet with a secret group. More and more people came to the island as Umitama and Rokuro got closer. Umitama danced for Rokuro, he sang for her. Taught her to cook, and to use a Katana. She showed him her favorite places around the island. They laid atop a hill, as the sun rose above them. “Asahi.” Rokuro said. “What?” Umitama asked. “It’s Nihongo for Morning Sun.” Rokuro said. “Morning sun? Asahi, you should teach me Nihongo.” Umitama said. “Alright.” Rokuro said.
1613. Rokuro and Umitama have only gotten closer, and the village has become a city, the castle has finally been finished. “How nice.” Rokuro said, speaking Nihongo. They were having a picnic on their hill. “It’s fine, A bit bigger than it should. Our family isn’t that big, I’ve no idea what to do with all the extra space.” Umitama said. “Sad, I’ve been trying so hard to make it bigger.” Rokuro said. “Don’t say that, and don’t bring it up at the coronation.” Umitama said. “Fine, princess.” Rokuro said. “Don’t call me that. I am starting to hate that word.” Umitama said. “Wanna go back to Uchinaaguchi, Agaitiida?” Rokuro asked. “If I’m the morning sun, does that make you the Yoru No Tsuki? No, that's horrible.” Umitama said, switching to Uchinaaguchi. “Yeah it’s bad.” Rokuro said, also switching.
The two walked down to the city, and Umitama waved bye to Rokuro, before heading to the castle. She dressed in a Ryusou, going to her ankles, and attended the ceremony, where her father was crowned. “Aragaki Chōei, we are happy to give you this rank and position, as the founder of this still unnamed kingdom.” a man said. “Sorry.” Umitama said.
Several months later. “Rokuro, come with me, I need to speak with you.” Aragaki said. He pulled Rokuro to the side. “What do you need, king?” Rokuro asked. “The truth, are you a Nihon?” Aragaki asked. “Yes.” Rokuro said cautiously. “Great, you need to leave. You people aren’t welcome here.” Agakari said. “Really? I’ve spent the last two years helping this island, teaching this island, you aren’t throwing me away now.” Rokuro said. “We are, you aren’t welcome.” Aragaki said. “Then you need to throw me off.” Rokuro said.
The next day. Both of them went missing, and a body showed up. Umitama was brought to the body, finding the remains of her father. “Who did this?” Umitama asked. The island looked for Rokuro, who had already left. Rokuro went back to Nihon. Umitama carried her father to the only cave on the island, and left him there. She was made the queen. A month went by, and things seemed to have gone back to normal, but one day she left.
She walked through Uchinaa. She stayed for days to find Rokuro but her search ended up with nothing. She left Uchinaa, and headed to Kyushu. She searched the lands. All the while Rokuro made his way up the ranks of his group, a legend passed around the Island. The Ghost of Nihon. The legend reached Umitama, and she ignored it, still searching for Rokuro. At the same time another legend started circulating. An Island of Monsters. She had learned of a secret organization, Mardom Rooh, and the existence of Yanamum; she even had to fight a few.
1615. She sat on a cliff overlooking a city, before she knew it several blades of lightning flew at her, she managed to dodge the fist but the second two hit her, knocking her onto the ground. She saw Rokuro standing there, holding his Katana. “What happened?” Umitama asked. “I’m sorry Agaitiida. I didn’t want to leave, but I made a mistake. I’ve made many, many mistakes.” Rokuro said. “My love, come with me, we can return.” Umitama said. “No, we can’t! There is no returning. The Mardom Rooh is after a lady. One who saved a village from Yokai, one. She spreads lies around, and the Mardom Rooh sees this lady as a threat that could expose them. I know that lady is you.” Rokuro said. “And, what does this Mardom Rooh matter? My love, all we needed was each other.” Umitama said. “I’m not your love.” Rokuro said. “Why Rokuro? Why would you throw everything away?” Umitama asked. “I’m sorry, but orders are orders. You aren’t an exception from that.” Rokuro said, pressing his Katana to her neck. “My love?” Umitama said, questioning if everything had been a lie. All while the moonlight bathed them. “I should, you care for me, I cared for you. Why throw it all away. If there was a problem you should have told me. We could have run away.” Umitama said, grabbing the Katana, and pulling herself onto her feet. Rokuro let the blade droop down, questioning himself. “But you didn’t. Why didn’t you love me enough to let me help you?” Umitama asked. “There was nothing you could have done.” Rokuro said. “There is.” Umitama said. Mabui gathered around Umitama, becoming a purple color, as love, hate, anger, and fear took over. Rokuro stood there, and Umitama released a Majutsu, a powerful one that ended up ingraining itself in Rokuro’s DNA. Rokuro fell onto his back, dropping the Katana. Umitama grabbed it, and ran away. Rokuro just looked at the moon. “Agaitiida. I’m sorry.” Rokuro said. 1616, and Umitama returned to the island. She took up the throne again, and finally named it, The Kingdom of Agaitiida.
Umitama found herself laying in the heart of the city. Beaten, bloodied, and bruised. Director Noboru walked to her. “How long has it been? How many times have you come here, and threatened me? How long since you turned my Agaitiida against me?” Umitama asked, standing on her feet, barely able to hold the golden, one handed Katana. She spoke Nihon. Director Noboru said nothing. He just walked to her. “Sir, you managed to actually take her down?” Sato said, not believing her eyes. “I did, I had hoped you and the other two would have. But Masato died, and Riku already left the island.” Director Noboru said. “Get it over with. Kill me, end everything I had hoped to keep safe.” Umitama said. Director Noboru sighed, and in an instant several blades flew into Umitama ending her. Her body fell to the ground, the Mabui contained in her shot out, and dissipated. Director Noboru walked away, and Sato looked at Umitama. Sato looked around, seeing a massacre. She looked to find that Director Noboru had already left. She sighed, and grabbed Umitama’s Katana, and sheath. Putting the blade back in its sheath, and putting it on her belt. “Queen Umitama. You were a fierce warrior, and I can only assume to be a great Queen. I’m sorry for your daughter.” Sato said.
