Chapter 20:

Final Notes.

Iris of Insignificance

I never really thought about making a story like this, especially one with the subject of being in the spotlight.

Iris of Insignificance started as an attempt to bring complexity into an otherwise overly-mellow dramatic genre. I wanted it to be read as something not really seen, but felt.

Everyone has a reason to perform, a reason to pretend to be/ feel something they don't believe, and most people don't understand why. Being truthful, I don't understand it either. But that's the point. None of us can perform for everyone simultaneously, or please every person with a single act, and that's okay.

Because being seen and labeled after a performance can weigh on you. It makes you feel like that's all you can be, because someone liked it.

Takumi's journey isn't about completion, or being perfect. It's about learning to take the pen into your own hands, and draw your own futures. Sure, the lines may be messy, and uncertain, but they're still yours.

Thank you for reading this story, following him through quiet mornings, unremarkable sunsets, and the quiet steps that you never would've thought twice about.

When it's all said and done, There's always going to be Excellence in the Unremarkable.
