Chapter 31:
The Bladderites, The Jarhands, and The Sound of Light
70 days, or 2 months and about 9 days before the Circumadversum Omatsuri, one late afternoon.
Yuukyurito Mitsuishi was about to explain what agreement he wanted with Seira, but Seira preempted the conversation.
Seira said, "Wait a minute, what about my taiko group? Wouldn't agreeing to you mean you're out of there?"
Yuukyuritoo replied, "Well. I'm already close with the manager. I can arrange for the Mitsuishi Group to increase their sponsorship."
Seira just smiled at that answer, then asked, "Then what about my parents? How do I explain where I'm moving to?"
Yuukyuritoo didn't answer immediately; it took him a few seconds to respond. Yuukyurito said, “Please, Miss Fotiou. This will likely only last for about six months. I'm sure Miss Fotiou can make your parents understand without having to mention us, about the Buriki kan no Burakku.”
Seira just smiled at that answer.

70 days, or two months and about nine days before the Circumadversum Omatsuri, one night.
Seira Ito Fotiou already knew all the information she wanted. She already knew what agreement the Buriki kan no Burakku expected. She already knew why the Buriki kan no Burakku so desperately wanted her presence.
There were two main reasons why the Buriki kan no Burakku wanted to recruit Seira: her ability to play the taiko drums and her habit of drinking blue-purple Clitoria ternatea tea.
Yuukyuurito Mitsuishi had already explained to Seira about the jarhand installation. The process would take approximately two hours and forty-one minutes. During the process, Seira will feel her body temperature rise slightly.
After the jarhand is attached to her body, Seira must rest and cool down. For this process, Yuukyurito explained that Buriki kan no Barakku now has quite complete equipment—especially compared to the early days of Buriki kan no Barakku.
Yuukyuritoo has explained how to use the pendants later. He also promised to be Seira's personal trainer so she can practice the pendant techniques well.
But what exactly are those pendants on the wrists that appear after someone has completed the jarhand installation?
Yuukyuritoo has explained that the pendants are actually "babies" of alien creatures called bladderites.
These aliens are called bladderites because their shape resembles a bladder. The bladder is composed of tightly packed pendants and is the alien's "basic form." They can control their pendants to change shape.
However, bladderites can only modify their filaments within a very limited range, no more than ten centimeters. This severely limits their movement and activity.
Bladderites possess a high level of intelligence, but their physical limitations make it difficult for them to perform tasks and create. They can collaborate with each other to combine themselves into a form and perform activities within that form. However, this would significantly drain their energy.
"Invasion" of a human body could allow bladderites to control the human body. If a human body merged with a bladderite's, the fusion would allow the human to activate a much larger number and range of filaments. This fusion would also allow the human to shape the filaments into a wider variety of shapes.
However, to merge the human body with the bladderite's, only one mind can control the combined body. If bladderites controlled the human body, the human body would fatigue more quickly and lead to a faster death.
If bladderites controlled the human body, the human mind would still be alive. Bladderites are able to “throw” the living mind into an illusory space shaped like an octagon.
Things would be different if a human were to control the combined human-bladderite body. The human body wouldn't tire as quickly and wouldn't die as quickly. Furthermore, bladderites also have a "mind off" mode, so their minds don't have to be as active as a human's. This "mind off" mode lasts for decades.
Yuukyuritoo had also explained something important to Seira: once a human has installed the jarhand to merge with the bladderite body, they can hide the bladderite strands within their human body but will not be able to remove the attached bladderite body.
The bladderite body will remain attached to the human body for decades. During this time, the bladderite body will adapt to the human body and, over time, will be able to benefit from the human body's advantages.
Yuukyuritoo had told Seira that after decades, the bladderite body will be able to "detach itself." Yuukyuurito explained, "They will be able to live by adopting a new form. Instead of becoming bladderites with severely limited movement, they can take on the form of small humans, like dwarves or homunculi."
That was the subject of discussion between Oude Sam and the Utsuro-bune woman. Who would control the combined body, which would offer many advantages?
The Utsuro-bune woman was a colony of bladderites. Ultimately, the colony agreed not to forcibly adopt a human body. They would continue to explore whether they could achieve a more independent body.
After hundreds of years of trying, the bladderite colony within the Utsuro-bune woman finally abandoned their efforts. They contacted humans again, stating they wanted to choose the option of "sleeping and adapting to a human body" while humans could utilize their dangling appendages.
The first human the bladderites contacted after the failure of the bladderite colony's experiments was Professor Hoshimu Kimura. This had been going on for about eighteen years, before the Buriki kan no Burakku building was even built.
Of course, with his skepticism, Professor Kimura didn't immediately conclude that whatever he was "contacting" was alien. For decades, he had maintained that what he was dealing with was a government project. Only in recent years has Professor Kimura become convinced of the existence of alien bladderites.
Now, tonight, Seira met with Professor Kimura to undergo the jarhand installation procedure.

70 days, or 2 months and approximately 9 days before the Circumadversum Omatsuri, approaching midnight.
At this moment, after completing the Jarhand installation procedure, Seira lay on a bed in a fairly spacious room. Seira was alone in the room before another person arrived. That person was Yuukyuritoo.
Yuukyuritoo asked Seira, "How are you, Miss Fotiou?"
Seira smiled and said, "Fine, fine."
Yuukyuritoo asked again, “Why did you call me? What do you need from me?”
Seira replied, “I’ve heard you can do all sorts of things with these wrist pendants. Like extending them to pick up objects, extending them to strike something, and tightening them to slice something. I can imagine all of that. But I was told there’s another technique, the wrapping technique. Could Mitsuishi-san give me a brief demonstration?”
Yuukyuuritoo sighed before agreeing to Seira’s request, “Very well, Miss Fotiou.”
Yuukyuritoo arranged the pendants in a downward motion. They covered part of the floor beside Seira’s bed. Then, from the wrapping on the floor, a blazing fire emerged.
Yuukyuritoo explained, "It's like this, Miss Fotiou. The stronger and more skilled a person is, the more varied and powerful the objects that emerge from this wrapping will be. The wrapping will also have unique functions. For example, Professor Hoshimu Kimura's wrapping can cover a special antenna underground in this barracks, allowing him to detect the movements of other bladderite colonies."
Yuukyuritoo had already explained to Seira about the existence of a bladderite colony distinct from the Utsuro-bune women's colony. This colony arrived later and had a different ideology than the Utsuro-bune women's colony. According to Professor Kimura's estimation, the latter likely didn't know that the Utsuro-bune colony had arrived hundreds of years before them.
Yuukyurito now added his explanation: "The greatest power of this 'wrapping' technique is the creation of a system called the Mandala system. If we can wrap a device, such as a tower, we can form a Mandala system that can be as large as a country."
