Chapter 33:
The Bladderites, The Jarhands, and The Sound of Light
Eight days before the Circumadversum Omatsuri, one night.
The Bladderbase Tower was fully completed. Haoto Nawa conducted a final inspection before declaring it ready for operation. In the end, Haoto pronounced, "There are no problems; everything is fine. We are ready to operate this tower."
Haoto himself led the deployment of the equipment. He ordered, "Operation Triangle Mandala, begin!"
The Triangle Mandala What Haoto was referring to was a veil that would envelop a specific area. This area encompassed all of Japan, including the southern islands of Japan and part of Sakhalin Island in Russia. The three points bordering the Triangle Mandala were Yonaguni Island, a point in the Pacific Ocean, and a point in the Sea of Okhotsk.
Haoto said to a woman beside him, "Your turn is about eight days away." "It's coming. But it's better that you're here now. I'm glad you canceled all your activities for the next week."
The woman standing next to Haoto, Eiru Inman Anno, replied, "It's my responsibility to fully support the completion of our two mandalas."

Five days before the Circumadversum Omatsuri, one evening.
Haoto Nawa joyfully announced to all his high-ranking bladderites that the Bladderist Triangle Mandala was complete.
Of course, those high-ranking bladderites would pass the good news on to their fellow bladderites.
However, Haoto Nawa also warned, "Our task isn't finished yet. We will use this completed Mandala to detect any suspicious activity. Furthermore, we must also prepare to strengthen our Mandala defense system by overlaying the completed Triangle Mandala with a Circle Mandala."
Once completed, the bladderites' Circle Mandala will encompass a larger area than the Mandala The inner triangle. The bladderites' Circle Mandala will encompass the entire territory within the Triangle Mandala, plus parts of China, all of South Korea, and all of North Korea.
When the Two Mandala system is complete, the bladderites will become even more powerful. They will be able to activate their chains with greater force and over greater distances. Furthermore, the Two Mandalas will also be able to counteract the most powerful human-made weapons, including nuclear weapons.
Haoto Nawa realized that the formation of the Two Mandalas reminded him of one of Euclid's propositions in The Elements. That proposition is Proposition 5 of Book IV, which discusses:
"To circumscribe a circle about a given triangle."
Haoto speculated that humans might be able to detect the Two Mandala system and create their own Mandalas. Haoto predicted that if humans were to create a Mandala to undermine the bladderites' Two Mandalas, they would likely create a Mandala that conforms to the form of another Euclid proposition.
Haoto predicted that humans would form a Mandala similar to Proposition 7 of Book IV, which discusses:
"To circumscribe a square around a given circle."
Haoto predicted that a rival mandala for humans would be extremely large. The "given circle" stated in Proposition 4 of Book IV of Euclid's Elements would be a bladder circle mandala.

Five days before the Circumadversum Omatsuri, one night.
Professor Kimura couldn't hold back his coughing. "Cough! Cough! Cough!"
John Anatole Holland, who was behind Professor Kimura, asked, "What's wrong, Professor Starwood?"
Professor Kimura was activating his jarhand's filaments to wrap the entire surface of a large antenna.
Professor Kimura replied, "I can confirm that the bladderites have successfully created their Triangle Mandala defense system."
Holland spontaneously responded, "What?! They've already created it? I didn't expect it to be this fast."
Professor Kimura argued, "With that Mandala, it's highly likely, if not almost certain, that they'll find us. They'll find Buriki kan no Barakku on Yonaguni Island."
Holland asked, “Then…”
Professor Kimura replied, “I’ll go with that plan. We’ll deceive them in two steps. We’ll make them think we’re going to create a rival Mandala to destroy them. First, the bladderites will likely suspect we’re going to create a Mandala that matches the form of one of Euclid’s propositions in Euclid’s Elements.”
Holland said, “But Professor, you’ll make them think we’re not going to do that.”
Professor Kimura said, “Right, but instead, we’ll create a Mandala that matches the form of one of Euclid’s propositions. Now, for this final task, we’re relying on Fotiou-san.”
Holland commented, “But Professor Starwood, if you do that…”
Professor Kimura looked back at Holland and said, “Yes, I know that if I use that deception technique, I’ll likely be extremely exhausted, and my life will likely plummet. I’ll probably die. But that’s okay; I’m satisfied with my life so far.”

Three days before the Circumadversum Omatsuri, one night.
Haoto Nawa issued an emergency message to all his fellow bladderites. He said, "Those of you who are free from other duties should immediately gather at Bladderbase! For Issei Jinnouchi and Niki Kotegawa, prepare your troops immediately!"
Haoto explained the situation: that the Triangle Mandala's monitoring had detected unusual human activity around Yonaguni Island. Haoto believed this activity indicated signs that humans possessed abilities similar to those of the bladderites.
Haoto explained his conjectures:
First, he suspected that humans would form a counter-Mandala system; he could confidently confirm this conjecture was correct.
Second, he suspected that the counter-Mandala would take the form of one of Euclid's propositions from Euclid's Elements, specifically the 7th proposition from Book IV. He corrected this suspicion.
Third, based on the correction of the second suspicion, he predicted that humans would choose to create a Mandala larger than their own. This Mandala would be a triangular Mandala with its three corners located at the Strait of Malacca near Thailand, the Pacific Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean.
Haoto Nawa instructed Yuito Kitagawa, then Prime Minister, to create the impression that a dangerous virus was spreading on Yonaguni Island, necessitating the deployment of the military to the island.

Two days before the Circumadversum Omatsuri, one night.
Yuito Kitagawa, as the highest government official, made an official statement to the press. He stated, "We have discovered unusual signs on Yonaguni Island, in southern Japan. We fear it is something far more dangerous than COVID. We have officially sealed off the island, evacuated the local population, and dispatched the military there."
At the time of this statement, the Japanese military had already deployed troops to Yonaguni Island. All the military personnel sent were, of course, humans whose bodies had been taken over by bladderites.
The invasion effort was dubbed "Operation Frozen at the Stake." At Haoto Nawa's request, the bladderites were expected not to kill any of the humans during the invasion. According to Haoto, humans who had merged their bodies with bladderites would make very interesting experimental subjects.
Issei Jinnouchi and Niki Kotegawa led the bladderites in the raid. Niki looked at her troops and commented, "Well, well, well. It's a good thing we've had two additional colony groups arrive, so we can bring this many troops."
