Chapter 18:

Revenge Failed

Skyfall Zero ( Arc-1)

Inside the mall, disappointment and rage filled the air. The hostages were trembling — not only from fear, but from sadness and helpless anger. Two innocent children had been killed without mercy. And the terrorist leader… was laughing.

No guilt.

No hesitation.

Only cruelty.

From their hiding place, Ren, Hina, Yuki, and Mei had seen everything. Ren’s body shook. His fists were clenched so tightly that blood dripped from his palms.

“We have to make them pay,” he said, his voice breaking. “He killed those children without mercy. They had no powers… no way to protect themselves…”

His eyes burned with self-hatred.

“We could have tried to save them… but we did nothing. We were afraid. And we call ourselves future heroes? If that’s the case… we’re worse than normal people. I swear… I will take revenge. No matter what happens. Are you with me?”

Hina came forward without hesitation.

“Yes, Ren. I’m with you.”

Yuki nodded, and said.

“You’re right. If we keep watching, more people will die. I won’t allow that. I’m with you.”

Mei raised her hand with determination.

“Me too. Let’s end this.”

Ren took a deep breath.

“Then we move. Two groups. First we clear first floor terrorists.”

Everyone nodded. The plan was set. Right side — Ren and Mei. They advanced silently through the smoke-filled corridor.  Four armed terrorists stood guard, and Ren raised his hand.

A bright beam of energy shot forward — striking all four at once. In an instant, they collapsed to the ground, unmoving. But two more terrorists spotted Ren and lifted their guns.

Before they could fire— Mei activated her power. With hands and wrapped around both men, smashing them into each other at high speed.

They fell unconscious.Mei gave Ren a thumbs-up and said, “The right side is clear.”

Left side — Hina and Yuki

Yuki spread her arms. Two glowing summons appeared: A wolf of pure energy, and an eagle made of shining light. The wolf lunged, pinning one terrorist to the floor, and the eagle swooped down, lifting another into the air and dropping him onto his ally.

At the same time, Hina released her golden binding strips, wrapping multiple terrorists at once and tightening until they could no longer move.

Seconds later, the left side was also clear, then the four of them regrouped at the center of the floor.

Down side… the terrorist leader still stood with his entities. Ren stepped forward, eyes blazing.

From the first floor balcony, Ren and the others looked down.

The terrorist leader stood below, surrounded by his remaining men and the trembling hostages. The three monstrous entities loomed beside him like living nightmares.

The leader lifted a microphone again.

“Police,” he said calmly, almost cheerfully. “Because of your hesitation… a cute little family is dead. And if you still refuse to release my comrades, more lovely families will die. Their lives are in your hands now.”

Outside, the head police officer gripped his radio tightly.

“Please… don’t do anything further. We will release your comrades. Just don’t harm any more hostages.”

The leader smiled.

“Now that’s a good answer. I’ll wait for my comrades to be freed.”

The officer turned to his team.

“We have no choice. If we don’t comply, he’ll keep killing.”

Nearby, Teacher Sei watched the mall entrance with clenched fists.

“Students… please stay safe,” she whispered under her breath.

Inside the mall, the terrorist leader glanced at the hostages again, clearly enjoying the terror in their eyes.

“But if the police delay again…” he muttered. “What should I kill next? I need something new. Something entertaining.”

His eyes stopped on a large, frightened man in the crowd.

“You. Come here,” the leader ordered.

The man shook badly as he stepped forward.

The leader smiled

“Dance. If you stop… I will kill you.”

“I-I don’t want to die…” the man cried, beginning to dance awkwardly out of sheer terror.

Many hostages looked away, unable to bear the humiliation.

From above, Ren’s jaw tightened.

“This is the moment,” he whispered.

Yuki nodded and raised her hand.

A glowing eagle beast shot into the air and dove straight toward the terrorist leader.

But before it could strike, one of the entities moved instantly, slashing the eagle apart in midair.

The leader turned his head sharply.

“Who dared to attack me?”

From the balcony, Yuki stepped forward.

“I did,” she declared.

Without hesitation, she jumped down from the first floor.

The terrorist leader smiles and says, “So brave… a little girl challenging me.”

He raised two fingers.

“Bring her to me.”

Two entities rushed toward Yuki.

At the same time, from the opposite side, Hina activated her power. Golden binding strips shot across the ground, wrapping around several armed terrorists, pinning them before they could fire.

On another side, Mei launched herself forward. Bullets rained toward her, but she twisted her body and used her power to deflect them away. With her free hand, she struck down the remaining gunmen one by one.Gunfire came through the mall.

Outside, the police heard the shots.

“They’ve started fighting inside!” one officer shouted.

The head officer made a quick decision.

“All units — move in!”

Back inside, one of Yuki’s wolf beasts leaped at the terrorist leader from behind. But an entity standing beside him intercepted the attack, shielding its master.

The other two entities started moving back toward the leader, but Yuki quickly summoned her turtle beast, forcing them to slow down as it blocked their path.

At that moment—

A streak of lightning shot forward.Ren appeared beside the leader in an instant, his fist glowing with power. He threw a devastating punch. But the entity that had protected the leader before stepped in again, meeting Ren’s punch with its own.

Boom.

The collision shook the entire hall. The terrorist leader smiled

“So… this is all you can do?”

Ren’s mind flashed with the image of the two murdered children. Their helpless cries.

Rage exploded inside him.

His energy surged beyond its limit. Lightning burst around his body. A massive wave of power erupted from his fist, tearing through the entity. The creature was ripped apart, crashing into the wall behind it, breaking concrete and steel.

The terrorist leader’s confident smile vanished. Before the remaining two entities could reach him, a glowing sphere formed in midair. A beam of pure energy shot out, erasing both creatures completely.

Smoke and dust filled the hall. For the first time… the terrorist leader was afraid. He turned to run. Ren raised his hand, preparing to finish him.

But suddenly, a dark portal opened behind the leader. A mysterious girl stepped out, grabbed his arm, and pulled him inside. The portal snapped shut in an instant.

Ren’s attack hit through empty air.

Just then, police forces stormed into the mall, weapons raised. But Ren, drained from releasing so much power, stumbled. His vision blurred. He collapsed to the ground.

“Ren!” Hina shouted, rushing to his side.

“Ren, what happened?” She said

But Ren had already lost consciousness. Above them, smoke drifted slowly. The terrorists were captured. The hostages were safe, But the enemy had escaped..
