The last game before the break...Nareen walked towards Victor, filled with confidence that rivaled Victors
"And here I thought You wouldn't come back!" Nareen boasted
Victor kept a smile, saying. "Same goes for you, and I won't go easy on you
this time."
Nareen sat down on his chair, and placed his hands on the board;
"Well you can try!"
Victor sat down, replying. "If I win, you won't go back to the jury crying about how you lost wont you?"
Nareen started with a classic e4, the starting stone of all openings
Victor opened with the French defense. after I played d4, he brought up his d6 pawn to d5, completely facing my white pawn
Nareen pushed his e4 pawn forward, completely shutting down the position.
“What, are you too scared to face me head-on?” Nareen mocked.
“Don’t mock me!” Victor snapped, pushing his c5 pawn.
Usually, this guy played aggressively, but now he was taking a defensive approach… Should Nareen be scared? Nah. He was taking this guy out first.
Nareen pushed his c3 pawn, forming a half triangle, and Victor replied with Ne6. By move seventeen, Victor completely blundered by playing cxd4, taking the pawn in the middle of the triangle, leaving it unguarded.
I retook with my c3 pawn and he redirected his horse to face the taken pawn
"Looks like my rescuers need rescuing, but it's fiiine!" Nareen mocked, raising both his hands up, completely wasting time. Nareen played Nc3, deliberately focusing on the middle over the pawn
"Why you little!--" Victor muttered, pinning my knight with his bishop,
Nareen thought. "Why shouldn't I let this little punk take the bishop, what's there to lose?"
He took my pawn and I repositioned my rook to the open square, "That's right turkey, nobody messes with Nareen!"
He moved his Knight and Nareen pushed my black tiled bishop all the way to Bg5, threatening his Queen
Victor stumbled, pushing his Queen for c7
"You're a pain to talk to you know that?" Victor muttered, staring at Nareen with tired eyes
"Aw, and I thought we were close! So nice to finally meet you again, face to face!" Nareen replied, pushing his pawn towards the knight, kicking it
Victor Hale pushed his pawn f6 threatening to take the bishop Nareen had established earlier.
"Why the hell not?" and took anyways
He took my Knight, and Nareen took the proceeding pawn, as if to say; "Whatever!"
The board slowly emptied as the game dragged on. Pawns fell. Knights disappeared. Rooks clashed.
Until Nareen got a bright idea, his eyes flashed with enthusiasm
Victor watched as Nareens smirk turned into a playful smile, he muttered; "Ah."
Nareen pushed a rook, a brilliant move! Victor, knowing it's forced, took the Rook and by the end
Before everyone knew it, the game ended.... A checkmate with his bishop, Victor had an unavailable queen right in the middle of the battlefield but it was useless
"Look's like you're going to the LOSERS bracket!" Nareen blurted out

Michael watched as Nareen played out his game, infront of him was Matt Suen. A player who idolizes the pros like Michael
"You're getting boring." Michael pointed out, glancing at Matt
Matt, stuttering close behind Michaels moves muttered; "There's no way!"
Matt thought "I was always the best.. No.. I am the best! I can't fall to you, because the only one who can understand you is me!"
Matts eyes grew into one of anger and he yelled out "I told you! I'm the only one who can stop you!"
And after playing his moves, the game quickly ended, Michael being the winner
Michael stood up; "I heard you beat Marco pretty easily, I can't imagine." and walked away
Matt sat in utter defeat; Muttering. "God damn it!" and with tears poured in his eyes he looked down on the board
"I was supposed to win!"
The game ends with a vision of Matt's father turning away from him played in his head---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A FEW HOURS LATER....We all soon gathered towards our table, Mateo spoke first saying: "Im sorry you lost." towards me
I looked at him, and smirked: "It's alright, we have many other opportunities right?"
When I said that, Nareen chuckled, saying "Well if so! I hope you guys win way more games without me!"
A tear fell on Nareens cheek, and he continued "I'm gonna miss you guys! Chess was so fun with you!"
And he raised his fist towards us and we all gave him a fist bump
Our Coach chuckled, interrupting "Once the next game is over, it'll decide who'll be brought to the final 4, and after that, It'll be my second time teaching a genius." gesturing towards Nareen
Nareen chuckled "It sucks I lost that last one.. But with Michael on our side our schools name will be brought to glory wont it?"
I butt in saying "Yeah and I'll be there too!"
Mateo tugged my back and walked forward "We'll all be there you doofus."

After the next games, Mateo and Nareen went on to lose while Michael prevailed, soon bringing him to the final, The second in SIPS history
Mateo slammed his chair back, staring at the board like it had betrayed him. “I had it… I actually had it…” he muttered.
