Chapter 6:
Magicless
Chapter 6: Darius
I looked down at the mystic parchment of Darius’ book.
I read: Anyone can wake me, but only the pure can read the truth, or else damnation and corruption. Command that of ᚠᛠ, ᛰ, the true one, who only those granted will now his true name. “It has been a long time since I have heard my name from a mortal. I am one of the few æthlyn left after the great battle of the second age.” Darius echoed, “You are the only one to receive a book-mark unscathed.”
“Book-mark? I don’t feel any different.”
“Look in the candle.” he whispered
I gazed into the melted wax. A large blue streak came across my left eye ominously.
“Is this permanent?” I shrieked.
He replied matter-of-factly, “Maybe, maybe not.”
I began to get frustrated, “Look, I’m just a simple albino, H’win Meïnauk. What do you want from me?”
He said, “I need this very book. If it falls into the wrong hands, its power will be heavily abused. You must return it to the land of eternal life, by crossing the wareful woods, trekking north to the stragglers inn. You must continue to the east to the land of frost elves. Here you have choices of where to go, either across the mortolan mountain range or the baĭze mesa, where my kin, the baĭze arcoils live. You must then walk to the rivers of the Blue-jays, where if you take a boat down south, you will reach the jɞn island. Here, you will find the sacred moonpool, put the book in the waters and repeat the phrase: Y lifyl ddwin.”
I gasped, “But why me?”
“You are the only one who I can communicate with. I have tried many a time to get the message to other bookkeepers, but they were not pure enough to hear me. If you are pure, how would you feel utilising magic for the first time? Because I have bound my spirit to yours, I could channel magic through you. It would be like channelling ink to paper via a pen. You must tell queen Draco II and take the book to heaven before he comes back. Go, make a fellowship and go on the quest of a lifetime!”
