Chapter 9:

Zed tells the girls they can leave but they chase him up the stairs instead

The Girls That Came With the Rain (A-Z)

The rain didn't let up. It just changed rhythm. From a hammer to a drone.

They stood in the kitchen. Leftover coffee in mugs.

-It feels like the rain is labeling this for us, Zed said.

Alice glanced toward the window. A cynical smirk tugged at her mouth.

-Great. The universe is conspiring to keep us trapped in here with you. Just what we needed.

She spun some pasta onto her fork. Cold leftovers. She ate it like a challenge.

-Try not to get too comfortable just because the weather's on your side.

-I've got an umbrella, Zed said.

He pointed to the closet by the front door.

-If you're really that desperate to escape.

Betty laughed softly. She sipped her coffee, two hands on the mug.

-You think an umbrella is going to save you from the wrath of Alice if she decides to make a break for it?

-It'd be crazy to go into that downpour, Zed said. It was so sunny yesterday.

Alice rolled her eyes. She leaned back, draping an arm over the chair.

-Don't sound so disappointed. You'll live. Besides, if we left, you'd just be alone with your coffee and your 'quiet Sunday.' Doesn't that sound thrilling?

-Oh, you're trying to leave again? Zed asked. Be my guest. I can still call you that cab if you're finished with me.

Alice snatched the umbrella from the closet. She gripped the handle tightly. She stared at the ridiculous nylon contraption, then back at him.

-You're such a martyr, she spat. 'Oh, look at me, giving you a way out.'

-I know what you're trying to do to me, Zed said.

He turned to Betty.

-You'll protect me, right?

Betty slid off her stool. She slipped between them, wrapping her arms around Zed's waist. A soft barricade.

-Always. You're stuck with us, remember?

She peered over her shoulder at her sister.

-Come on, Alice. Put the umbrella down. You know you don't really want to leave him here defenseless.

-She's the one I need defending from, Zed laughed into Betty's ear.

Alice scoffed. She tossed the umbrella aside. Clatter on hardwood. She stepped closer, invading the space.

-Defended from me? Oh honey, you have no idea.

She jabbed a finger against his chest.

-I could destroy you. Break you apart piece by piece until there's nothing left but a shell.

-I have a feeling she's not kidding, Zed whispered.

-She never is, Betty whispered back. But she's all bark. You just have to know how to pet her right.

Zed smiled. He stepped forward. He reached out and patted Alice gently on the shoulder.

Alice tensed.

-Don't.

It was a growl.

-You think you can just tame me?

-Yes, Zed growled.

Then he ran.

He sprinted for the stairs.

Alice let out a wild, incredulous laugh.

-Oh, you are so dead!

Her long legs ate up the distance. She grabbed the back of his shirt just as he hit the first step, yanking him backward. Betty laughed loudly.

-Run all you want. I love it when they squirm.

Zed feigned a struggle. Alice spun him around. She slammed him back against the wooden bannister. The photos on the wall rattled.

Her eyes were wild. Predatory. She pinned him there with her hips.

-Is that all you've got? I barely even tried, Alice scoffed.

She grabbed his wrists. Forced them above his head. Bruising grip.

-You wanted to run? You're trapped now.

Zed relaxed his muscles. He let himself fall back onto the stairs, pulling Alice down with him.

They landed hard. Alice gasped as the world tilted. She scrambled to recover, finding herself straddling his hips on the hard wood.

-You clumsy idiot, Alice said, glaring at him.

She pressed her weight down, pinning him against the edge of the step.

-That's it. Just lay there and take it.

From the bottom of the stairs, Betty watched. Frozen. Hand over her heart.

-It’s... it’s like a car crash I can’t look away from.

She started to climb. Drawn to the heat.

Alice shifted her hips. Grinding down.

-See something you like, Betty? Or are you just waiting for your turn to be crushed?

She dragged her nails down Zed’s chest.

-He’s all mine right now.

Betty sank to her knees on the step below them. Eye level with the tangle of limbs.

-You can keep him for now... but don't wear him out too fast. Remember, we share.

Alice rolled her eyes. She captured Zed’s lips in a desperate kiss.

-We'll see about that.

She broke the kiss. She bit his lower lip. Hard.

-Look at that... all that talk and you just want to be owned.

Zed murmured something into her ear. Alice shivered. Her hands slid under his shirt, nails raking up his sides.

Betty reached out. She slid her hand down his chest, to the waistband of his pants.

-You look so beautiful when you let go, Betty whispered.

Alice growled. Possessive. But she didn't stop her.

Zed helped Betty with the button. He sprang free.

Alice froze. She leaned back on her heels to admire the view.

-Look at you... exposing yourself like a slut. You really are desperate, aren't you?

Betty whimpered softly. She leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to his exposed hip. She wrapped her hand around him.

Alice’s eyes narrowed. Fury. She lunged forward, grabbing Betty's wrist.

-Stop. Right. There.

She glared at Betty.

-I won't tell you again, Alice growled. Hands off my prize.

-Hey, Zed said gently. We can share.

Alice released Betty’s wrist with a scoff. She leaned down, bracing her hands on his shoulders.

-Share? You think you have any say in this? You’re the one pinned to the stairs. We take what we want.

-You can both take what you want.

Betty lowered herself back down. She leaned in, pressing her chest against his arm.

-Please, Alice? Let's make him fall apart together.

Alice looked at Betty. Then at Zed.

-Fine. Have it your way.

She shifted her grip to his throat.

-But if he screams, he’s mine to fix, she said, squeezing lightly.

Betty slid her hand back to his length. She leaned down. She flicked her tongue against the head.

-He tastes... mmmm.

She wrapped her lips around the tip.

Alice flinched. She watched for a moment, mesmerized, then the jealousy won over. She yanked Betty’s head back by the hair.

-That's enough. You don't get to make him come that fast.

Alice pushed Betty aside. She straddled him again. She ground down. Hard.

-Brace yourself, because I'm nowhere near done with you yet.

She attacked his neck with her teeth. Her hand found him, squeezing tight, a jerky, punishing rhythm. Zed bucked against her.

-Look at you... rutting around like an animal.

She lifted her hips just out of reach. Denying him.

-Beg for it. Maybe then I'll decide where you get to finish.

Zed captured her lips. He tried to find friction against her thigh.

Alice broke the kiss.

-You greedy bastard... trying to sneak your way in.

With a feral growl, she reached between them. She undid her own pants. Shoved them down just enough.

-You want it? Here.

She grabbed him. Lined him up. Slammed her hips down.

She took him all in one sharp stroke.

Zed’s back hit the stairs. He gripped her ass. He started to move.

Alice cried out. Head back. Nails digging into his shoulders.

-Yes! Fuck! Take it all!

She rode him hard. Skin slapping against skin, echoing from the walls.

-That's it... lose your fucking mind!

Zed arched. Close.

-Not. Yet.

Alice clamped down. A vice. She jarred his body against the wood.

-Grip those stairs and take it. I haven't finished with you.

She slowed the rhythm to a devastating grind. Rolling her hips.

-Drink it in. Memorize this face. Because this is the only heaven you're ever getting.

She felt him throbbing inside her. She leaned down. Breath hot against his ear.

-Stop fighting it. Give it to me. All of it.

Zed let go.

Alice shrieked. Triumphant. She rocked through his orgasm, milking him dry.

-Yes, yes, yesss!

She collapsed on top of him. Chest heaving. She buried her face in his neck.

-Mine.

Betty watched from the sidelines. A soft, disappointed sigh.

She crawled up the stairs.

-Move over, sis. You had your turn.

She looked down at him. Fragile. Hungry.

-I need... I need to feel it too.

Zed pulled Alice off. He guided Betty onto his lap. He was still semi-hard.

Betty sobbed softly as she slid down.

-Oh god, Zed... I've wanted this for so long...

She began to roll her hips. Tentative. Slow.

Alice sat up. She wiped her mouth. She glared. But seeing her sister tremble, she softened.

-Jesus, you look pathetic. Take it then.

She reached out. Grabbed a handful of Betty's hair. Forced her to arch her back.

Betty brought him back to peak. She shattered around him, a ragged cry echoing up to the landing.

Silence fell.

Zed looked around at the wreckage on the stairs.

-And you girls just showered.

Alice glanced down at the fluids staining the carpet on the stairs. She laughed.

-Talk about a waste of a perfectly good shower. Now I smell like sex and stairwell wreck.

-I'm gonna need a carpet cleaner in here, Zed laughed.

Alice stood up on shaky legs. She grabbed the banister.

-Don't push your luck. If you think I'm scrubbing this mess, you've lost your damn mind.

She pointedly wiped her hand on his shirt.

-I'm just marking my territory. Besides, you're the one who turned this into a slip-n-slide.
