Reincarnated as a Fisherman and a Dad Chapter 136

Maya looked around and confirmed that the shop indeed had a lot of customers moving in and out. She was happy that the family renting her shop was doing well in life.

Her shop was located in a populated area, allowing people to easily visit and purchase clothes. Honestly, when Maya first thought of marrying Karlos, her intention had been to open a shop and start her own business, something stable and independent.

But at that time, they lacked the funds to open a business. They couldn’t even renovate the other shop at the fish port. Then Joseph decided to give the small bangka to Karlos since he couldn’t use it anyway, which changed everything.

Things continued until Karlos proved that he truly had the capability to earn money through fishing. Then the twins came, which made their finances tight, but it was a blessing the couple was happy to have and worth every struggle. It didn’t matter how much money they had, they would spend everything on the kids if they had to.

Anyway, Maya’s plan to start a small business never really happened. Besides, her children were still young, and she couldn’t leave them alone even briefly. If she were to start a business, it would probably be around the time the children started school and things settled down.

Fortunately, her husband was a capable man, reliable and hardworking. Who would have thought they would earn 7 million pesos in just a year… ahem, 5 million pesos actually, since the 2 million pesos were stolen, I mean, went to taxes.

Anyway, 5 million pesos was undoubtedly a huge amount, no matter how people looked at it.

“Since you’re here, how about you try the clothes we prepared for you and the kids? The quality is amazing, and the price is affordable,” Gina said to Maya, wearing her practiced customer-service smile.

“Alright,” Maya replied with a smile, easily persuaded. The two women went to the inner part of the shop, each carrying a baby. They wanted to dress the little kids and see how adorable they would look in different outfits. Of course, Maya would also choose a nice dress for herself.

While the women got busy in their own world, Karlos approached Jejomar, Gina’s husband.

The man was at the cash register, managing customers who paid one after another. His fingers tapped the counter as he counted the bills, his eyes shifting between the customers and the cash register.

“You can’t leave your spot?” Karlos asked.

“Do I look like I have the time? Customers keep coming in to pay for clothes. I can’t leave the cash register,” Jejomar replied, grinning.

Jejomar and his family had five members. The oldest child was in college, while the second and third children were in high school and busy with their studies.

The second and third children were currently in the shop, helping their parents manage the clothing store. After school, they would assist the customers.

“How was your twins’ birthday? You said you live in a villa, I bet the party was extravagant,” Jejomar said, his tone curious.

“Nah, it was just a simple birthday party. Nothing grand,” Karlos replied with a straight face.

Except for the two sports cars that arrived at the villa, yeah, nothing grand happened.

“Also, here. A gift from us. You didn’t attend the birthday party, but we left a small gift for you.”

Karlos handed Jejomar a carefully wrapped bottle of wine. When Jejomar saw it, he grinned and laughed happily, accepting the wine with both hands and even hugging it.

“Karlos, you’re really a great guy. I’ll give you guys a discount.”

“I thought we always had a discount?” Karlos raised a brow.

“I’ll add another discount for today.” Jejomar inspected the bottle with gleaming eyes. Based on its appearance, it was probably an expensive wine. He instinctively licked his lips, already imagining its taste.

“That’s what I like to hear.” Karlos was clearly satisfied.

When the number of customers decreased, Jejomar’s second and third children boldly approached Karlos. They were both teenage boys in their high school years, their faces lighting up when they saw him.

“Uncle, where are our gifts? We didn’t see you on Children’s Blessed Day,” one of the boys asked, shamelessly opening his hand.

“Gifts? You guys are already old and still want to celebrate Children’s Blessed Day? Besides, that holiday was four months ago,” Karlos replied.

“Still, where are our gifts?” they asked persistently.

“These stinky boys,” Karlos muttered, though he didn’t find it strange. Kids were just kids.

Jejomar only laughed at his children. Kids at that age were shameless, especially boys.

Karlos pulled out a 20-peso bill for each of them, and the two boys were instantly satisfied. They could buy a lot with that amount. Twenty pesos back then held significant value.

When Maya finished dressing herself and the children, the family decided to leave the clothing store with plastic bags in hand. They bought clothes, bedsheets, and curtains for their new house. Just as Jejomar promised, they received a generous discount.

They rented a tricycle to take them back to the villa.

...

Moving day arrived, and a truck was parked in front of the villa. Foster and Karlos helped the porters carry their belongings into the truck one box at a time. The family had only a few things when they arrived at the villa half a year ago, but now they had many belongings when they left, a clear sign of change.

Especially the children’s toys, which were too many to count. Arabella and Iñigo were shocked when they saw a small mountain of toys stored in the other room.

‘Why didn’t we know about this!?’ the twins thought in disbelief.

If they had known, they would have opened all the toys and played with them nonstop. Arabella cried and reached toward the toys, her lip trembling, but things were busy, so Maya kept a gentle yet firm grip on the children.

Mrs. Wanda wore a reluctant expression as she watched the family move out. She understood that the Alejandro family would only stay for six months, but it was still hard to accept that they were leaving. She tried to maintain her smile, but her sadness was obvious.
