Chapter 6:

The power of being Insignificant.

Rapture

Crack!~

The sound of Hikari's Knuckles cracking echoed through the area, The trainees in group B all shudder at the sound, their eyes widen in utter shock at what they saw.

"What the.?"

What was that?

"He  barely used any mana..?"

"No. He didn't use mana at all..!"

"But if he doesn't have any mana that mean he doesn't have a blessing.."

"A Miracle without a blessing? i haven't heard of that before".

"Maybe he just doesn't know how to control his mana..?"

A trainee shook his head in response.

"Impossible. When receiving a blessing every Miracle receives a revelation that helps them use their mana in order activate their blessing instinctively. In other words, The idea of him not being able to control mana would be illogical."

"Ah...i see. Then what is he doing?"

As the Trainees of group B proceed to mummer amongst the each other, The trainees who Hikari arrived here with by fan all seem to remain silent as they watch Hikari with peculiar expressions, on their face.

Yuki stared with an expression that's a mixture of both disinterest and confusion, a brow raised as if not sure how to feel about the current situation.

Kuzu let out a low scoff, his eyes dripping with condescension. he mutters something under his breath before turning his gaze elsewhere.

Ataka stared with an indifferent expression. her brows were  slightly furrowed as she continued staring at Hikari.

Nozomi, who was currently lying on a makeshift mat under a tent, being catered to by a medic who appears to be swapping wet rags before placing it on his head. Nozomi was watching Hikari, his eyes weakly held open. his eyes reflect  a subtle but deep sorrow before slowly closing his eyes.

Hikari, With his fist still connected to the lifeless body of the nephilim, Trembled slightly not moving from his position area remained silent. The medic who stood to the side near the commander, let out a sigh as if feeling sorry for Hikari before preparing to go check up on him. but then-

'!?'

To the surprise of the medic, Hikari raise his left arm.

His only good arm.

Signaling her to stop.

Pulling back his now bruised fist from the the nephilim's body, leaving a subtle print resembling his fist. The commanders once stoic expression twist as he takes notice of the print Hikari made, his eyes widens slightly in surprised.

!?

In all his years of fighting against the nephilim There were two things he  refused to forget.

One being that no matter who or what it is, the abominations hides could never be pierced without the use of mana because it goes against the 'Natural law' so even though he made it as if it was a suggestion, it universally common knowledge that the use of mana would be necessary to even dare make scratch on them.

And two-

BANG!

The only other thing that can damage a nephilim is-

BANG!

Another Nephilim.

So The commander cant seem  to understand why this boy tat Mrs. Choi recommended is managing to leave more and more noticeable dents on the Nephilim's body without the use of mana.

Hikari cocks back his now blooded  and broken fist that had turn a dark shade of purple and the bones on his knuckles now visible from the peeled skin. With his trembling arm  reeled back Hikari breathes heavy, shaky breaths before screaming to the top of his lungs, his pupils constricted as if he was going manic and pauses for a moment before swinging it with full force.

"haAAAAAAHH!"

BOOOOOM~!

Like a cannon the sound of Hikari's punch vibrated the air the sound noise made even the commander's usual stoic expression twitch subtly out of surprise, Even the trainees had collectively flinched in there own way. Not just because of the sound after all during the other trainee's attempt the sound of their attacks made similar noises.

But Hikari, whos not using an ounce of mana, is for some reason, punching the nephilim's body with so much force that he's making huge dent in the shape  of his now broken fist, that should've been nothing but a bloody stump by now.

A great gust of dust, clouds the area around Hikari. when the dust settle the crowd let out quiet exclamation..

What they saw was..Hikari who had dropped his bloody and broken fist down to his side.

His hand, coated with dark oily liquid that seems to absorb all the light around it, his arm trembled like leaf.

His body blocked the view of the result of his final attack.

The group of trainees practically break their necks, straining they as an attempted to look around him.

For a moment..

A short moment..

Hikari stood still as he examined his work before suddenly turning around and walk back to his place in the group.

the medic who stood nearby snapped out of her daze she was in, and hurried over to Hikari who was clutching his battered arm.

Once reaching him, her face contorts into a grimace upon looking at Hikari's arm.

Strip of skin peeled off from his knuckles down to the bridge of his fingers, revealing the bone.

The complexion of his hand that of black and blue. a state that had spread to his forearm.

Cuts along his forearm as if the very force Hikari used was too much for his mere body to handle.

His fingers dangled as if the very bones within them were reduced to powder.

The  Medic, whos has seen her fair share atrocious injuries, still couldn't help but swallow the vomit that had threatened to come up.

The medic tenderly touched his arm as if even the slightest bit of pressure would turn his arm to dust right then and there.

"Tch are you out of you mind..?"

The words escaped her lips without her even noticing it as she began to heal Hikari.

"S-sorry..! i wanted to do my best, y'know? hehe."

The medic let outs out an exasperated sigh.

"Even then, you shouldn't have push yourself this hard-"

Lifting her eyes to meet Hikari her words get caught in his throat as drop of water fell on her cheek.

No not water but a tear.

Hikari's tear.

What she saw was Hikari who had tears falling from the corners of his eyes likely a natural reaction from the state his right are is in. He wore a smile, his lips slightly trembling from the pain.

But his eyes.

His Soft brown eyes.

Reflected what could only be described as-.

"I know...I just had to or else everyone and everything that helped me get to this point, would have all been for nothing..."

-Desperation.

-Desperate satisfaction.

A type of satisfaction that says 'If i didn't do it like this, my life would've meant nothing in the end.'

That look resembled something she had seen seven years ago.

A boy younger than Hikari who shared Hikari's pitiful expression.

The medic who had her mouth parted to speak at first gently shut them close before redirecting her gaze back to Hikari's arm, as she continues to healing him.

The frustration she once had seemingly vanished as a soft smile forms on her lips.

"You...you did an amazing job, kid"

"hah..thank you.."

Hikari, with a slightly shaky voice, lets out a soft chuckle and spoke with sincerity.

"What the hell...?!"

"That dudes a monster!"

"How's that even possible.."

The eyes of every trainee were wide in great astonishment. Their eyes darting back and forth between Hikari's battered arm, that's currently being healed and the nephilim's body that has a Crater?

No.

a small hole..?

No.

A surprisingly large hole.

A hole that goes deep enough for the nephilim's dark oily blood to coat Hikari's hand.

A hole that a mere trainee should've never been capable of creating on nephilim's hide.

The Commander's expression was a mixture of slight awe, curiosity and suspicion.

Rubbing his chin thoughtfully, he opened his mouth as if beginning to speak until-

"Commander, Commander!"

The shout of people makes the commander halt before turning his head, along with the others from group B.

It was Group A, running with a desperate looks on their face on their face, and for some odd reason their numbers seemed to have been halved.

"?!"

The commander's brows twitch and furrows when he noticed one thing.

Ms. Choi is nowhere in sight.

A young man from the weary group had good lead from the rest, being the first to reach the commander panting as he try's to speak.

"The..the-"

"Where's Miss Choi?"

"T-the Rapture...huff~ huff~"

"What..?!"

The words escape the Commander's mouth without him even noticing it as his eyes instantly going wide, brows furrowing with a mixture of confliction and frustration.

"S-she said it was a 'Code Rapture'!"
