[5.0] This Holiday Feels 'kinda' Lacking: Mei's Visit

This story tells about a couple who just confessed to each other just before the Christmas holiday.

Yu Hariko and Mei Kartika. Sixteen-year-old male and female high school students made a promise to spend their holiday together. Not only that, but Yu also asked Mei if she could spend a night together in his house for the New Year.

"I CAN'T! WHY AM I EVEN ASKING THAT?!" Yu realized that he fucked up.
"You can't back down, bro", James said through the video call, "You made the promise with her."

This was the first day of Christmas and the New Year's holiday. The boys hop on a video call for the last time, at least for Yu, before going their separate ways for the holiday.

"You shot your shot. It has been planted. No more hiding!" Bahmul added.
"Yeah, bro. You were bolding out, and now you're just going to curl up again? Don't be a wuss."

Yu looked at his friend with disgust. He saw them just smiling like an idiot, at least in his eyes.

"Are you going to say anything, Adit? Usually, you're the one with the big mouth."
"Oh, I should say something", he said with the biggest smile, "Okay then, hear this..."

"I regret I have said that to you."

After a mouthful of words from Adit, they parted ways and ended their video call.

"Alright then, I'll see you at school next year!"
"Have fun with Mei, Yu."

*Beep*

"Huff, I think I just wasted energy hearing Adit talk. Seriously, he needs to stop doing that even when I engage him in doing it."

Not long after, Adit gave Yu a message.

[Adit] You did it to yourself!
[Yu] Huh?
[Adit] I know you're doing that monologue thing again. Am I wrong?
[Yu] Shut up!
[Adit] 😋
[Adit] Anyway, gotta get some meal before heading out. Ta ta for now!

"That guy!" Yu complained with anger.

Yu looked at the time, "Oh, it's almost eleven", and got ready to head out, "I have much to be prepared. There is no way I'll let her look at my room like this!"

He got ready to buy a bunch of stuff for his house. He used all of his savings and part-time salary to buy a Christmas Tree and presents, as well as other necessary things to decorate his room. That was the plan, but he got a surprise visitor when he opened his room door.

"Hi, Yu. I... I mean", she coughed, "Honey", she said it with a deeper voice, "I come to visit you."

Silence...
For the whole five seconds...

"MEIIII????" Yu jumped back and fell. His head almost hit the floor because of the scare.
"Uwwwaaaa, YUUU!" Mei quickly extended her hand and kneeled beside Yu, "I'm sorry! Are you okay?"

To keep it cool, Yu said, "I'm okay", but he also got her back with a deep voice, too, "But it's become better after your visit, darling."

The shot was fired, and Mei screamed, "KYAAAA", while blushing like a rose.

"Got you back", Yu said with the biggest smile on his face.

After calming down, the two exchanged laughter. They helped each other up, and Mei explained in detail why she suddenly visited Yu.

Yu started the conversation, "How... did you know where I live? Did one of my friends give you my address?"

Mei answered while blushing, "Well... I did meet you at the park near here. So..."
"Huh? Well, that was true, but..."
"And this boarding house was the only boarding house near the park."

Yu connected the dots and said, "You... just assumed and asked the landlord about my room?"
Mei blushed and covered her face with both of her hands.

Mei said, "What if I said yes? Am I... sounded like a stalker?"
Yu was about to say yes, but instead, "That was cute..."

Another silence...
For ten seconds this time...

"... I'm sorry. That was awkward."
"No, Yu. I... Sorry for the inconvenience. I was just wanting to confirm you are here, and now that I know, I'll be on my way."

Mei was about to leave, but his heart said otherwise. He grabbed her hand and said, "Wait! Don't go."

Mei looked back, and a wind was blowing through the scene, making Yu's long hair sway, and his coolness in her eyes shone.

"I have a request... or rather... a... wish."
"Huh?"
"Would you come with me... to the store? It could be... our first... date as... a couple."

BLOOM!

It felt like flowers just flew surrounding this couple.
Their eyes meet. Sparkled.
Their hearts beat. Bumped.
Their skins crawled. Anxieties kicked in.

Mei broke the silence, "O... okay."
"I mean, you're going on your way to visit me, and you go back without anything? That seems like a waste of trip money... right?"

Yu released his head, and Mei said, "Ah... right. I... went above and beyond, huh?"
"You sure did."
"Again... I'm sorry I visit you unannounced like this, Yu. I'm happy you didn't find this creepy."

He did find it creepy, but deep inside, "Well, I did the same, you know. How am I supposed to judge?" He thought about it.

"So..." Mei offered her hand, "Shall we go?"

Yu was hesitant, but he eventually reached out and took her hand, "Yeah, let's!"

They went together to the nearest store in the neighbourhood, Tiny's Mega Mall.

"Man, the crowd is crazy today", Yu was stating the fact while looking around the mall.
"No kidding! Even earlier, when I went to get the trolley, some women blocked access to it. It was frustrating."

Yu saw Mei getting angry. He got his hand up to her head and started stroking her hair.

"I'm sorry..."
"Eh? For what?"
"I should've been the one getting the trolley. You've got to see those awful things, and I was not there for you."

Mei's eyes sparkled. Mei grabbed Yu's hand that stroking her hair, and said, "Just the thought already makes me happy."
"I... I'll be more cautious next time. I'll keep an eye on you wherever you go..."

Yu stopped his sentence for a moment before continuing, "I mean, whenever we're on a date."
Mei blushed, and her mind went numb, "That sounded like stalker behaviour, but why am I getting happy over it?!"

The shopping went as expected. The crowded place made the couple grab each other's hands not to get lost. Eventually, the couple had bought all of the things that they needed, and they went home to Yu's apartment.

Yu's clock showed one o'clock in the afternoon. Yu made a statement, "It's one pm already. Do you want me to give you a lift to your home?"
Mei was surprised and blushed, "Wa... wa... wait! What do you...?"
"Bicycle. I have a bicycle. I also have a spare helmet. I hope it would fit in with you."

Mei got back to reality, "Oh... right. Bicycle."
Yu looked confused. Mei responded, "Don't worry about it, Yu! I guess the heat tried to mess with my brain a little bit! Honest!"

Yu got even more confused, "What did she even think about when I said those words?"
