Chapter 2:

Chapter 2: The City of Unmei

Honor of The Swordsman Book 1: New Beginnings

As Ryu approached the outskirts of the town, he realized he had misjudged the size of the place as it appeared to be more like a thriving city. The outlines he had mistaken for as buildings when exiting the clearing were actually massive grey brick walls that had two towers looming high in the sky operating as outlook posts. As Ryu made his way toward the gates, he quickly got absorbed by the traffic. The ground started to transition from a dirt path to a cobblestoned road. There were multiple guards posted at the entrance, but it appeared they were only tasked with maintaining the peace. Ryu was relieved that he did not need special papers to enter the city. Now that he was inside, he needed to know where the closest inn was located. He quickly closed the distance between himself and one of the city guards that was clad in silver armor. His chest plate had a crest of a bright red phoenix outlined in black across the front. The man appeared to be in his early thirties with pushed back short brown hair. He had a smile on his face as he directed visitors and provided them with helpful information. Ryu was certain he would be able to supply him with directions.

As he stepped in front of the guard he started to say, "Excuse me sir, can I trouble you for a minute?" The guard nodded as he responded, "How can I assist you sir?" Ryu suddenly asked the guard three questions in quick succession, "Where is the closest inn from here? Also, where is the closest weapon shop? Lastly, what is this city called?" The guard was taken slightly aback by the rapid fire of questions from Ryu. He awkwardly laughed before replying, "You are in the city of Unmei inside the Kingdom of Ryze. As far as weapons go, I would try the Weapons & Armor Essentials directly down this street. They are the fifth building on the left. It has a pretty decent sign out front, so you should not miss it. Lastly, the Calming Inn is your best bet for warm food and a bed if you are visiting. If you follow this road to the center of the city, you will find yourself in front of a fountain in the center of the plaza. From the fountain, you follow the road heading to the right. The inn is pretty large, so you should have no issue spotting it. Is there anything else you need help with today sir?" Ryu was grateful for the hospitality of the guard as he politely responded, "No, thank you so much for your assistance and have a good afternoon." The guard smiled as he said, "You as well, sir, and welcome to the city." As Ryu turned to head deeper into the city, he thought to himself that he should start with getting a room reserved at the inn. He stared in awe as he glanced back and forth at the different businesses as well as the various races of people around him.

The buildings ranged from one floor to three or four stories on both sides of the street. Some of the properties were multiple shops with different ones on each level while other establishments had one store facing the road while the rest of the structure appeared to be apartments. As Ryu continued on, he saw the blacksmith store that the guard had told him about earlier. Two buildings further down from the weapon shop on the opposite side of the path was what seemed to be a nice café with indoor and outdoor seating options. Ryu counted a total of ten buildings on each side of the road as he neared the center of the city where the fountain was located. He noticed that the last building on the left side was a pub as he turned his focus to the people around him.

Ryu had seen a couple of different beast man, elves, dwarfs, and fairies living among the humans. While the city appeared to be peaceful, he could tell from observing the different races of citizens that there was minimal interaction between them. He understood what the God was telling him about now when he said the unification of the kingdoms was only in name. As Ryu approached the fountain, he marveled at the beautiful design of it. It had a woman with her sword pointed toward the heavens with four hawks ascending from the tip of the sword into the sky in a spiral formation. The plaque on the front of the monument stated the following, 'Lady Fate as portrayed on the battlefield with her magical hawks that hunted all demons to protect our land from evil. This statue was built in her honor for her sacrifice to protect the Kingdom of Ryze.' Ryu admired how incredibly strong and brave she must have been. Ryu wished he had gotten the opportunity to have met her at some point, so he could have seen those magical hawks in action. Before Ryu could continue on his way, a person suddenly fell into his back knocking him into the fountain.

As Ryu emerged dripping wet, he discovered that the person that had fallen into him was a beast woman. She had fluffy orangish red tufted ears. She also had a short bushy tail that matched in color with a white line wrapped around the end of it. Ryu concluded she must have been half fox as he noticed she looked relatively young. If Ryu had to guess, she must have been around the same age as him. She was wearing an old-faded yellow dress with light brown sandals on her feet. By the expression on her face, it appeared she might have hurt herself from the fall. Ryu's anger quickly dissolved since it appeared to have been an accident. He knew there was no reason to be upset at a klutz. As he climbed out of the fountain to make sure she was okay, he noticed a group of three men clad in black light armor several feet away.

Their armor seemed to be made of leather, and it covered their shoulders, chests, arms, and wrist. Their legs were also padded similarly with their thighs and shins protected. The man on the left had black hair with light green eyes. He was carrying a black bow on his back with a black quiver to match. He held an older looking fox women by her arm next to him. Ryu could tell by her appearance that she was a relative of the girl on the ground next to him. As he turned his attention to the man on the right, he noticed he was holding a dark brown wooden staff that formed a circle at the top in his right hand. It had a smooth round purple stone in the middle of it. The staff appeared to have been through some battles from the apparent wear on it. It had multiple scuff marks on it from the top to the bottom where the man possibly had been using it as a club or a bo staff to block and attack with blunt force. He had short faded blonde hair with light grey eyes and a mischievous smirk on his face. As Ryu turned his focus on the man that seemed to be the leader in the middle, he immediately noticed the giant longsword perched on his back with a blue hilt. Their leader was the tallest of the three of them as he towered above everyone with a stature three times the size of Ryu. He had slicked back short black hair with beady red piercing eyes. He had a scar slightly above his right eyebrow that went straight down ending slightly below his eye. He had an evil grin on his face as he put his arms back down by his side.

It was clear that the man in the middle had shoved the girl really hard to launch her into his back from so far away. He knew by the looks of them as a group that they were going to be trouble for him. As Ryu kneeled down next to the girl, she started to apologize profusely to him, "I am sorry mister. Please forgive my clumsiness." Ryu was shocked that she was taking responsibility for something she did not cause. He could clearly tell she was in pain by how she was holding her wrist near her body. It appeared she may have landed on her hand awkwardly after their collision possibly spraining it. Ryu smiled softly as he gently said, "It was an accident, so I am not upset at all. I am more worried about you right now. How is your hand?" Before the girl could reply, the brutish leader of the group had started to approach them on the ground. He started to talk with an obnoxiously loud voice as he said, "You must have no respect for any human's fox. First you bump into me and now you have gotten this gentleman all wet. I doubt you have enough money to repay us for your disgraceful actions." He paused for a second as he came to a stop right in front of them less than a foot away. His grin had become a full fledge vile smile at this point. As Ryu collected himself and stood back up, he still had his back facing the man. The leader of the thugs leaned forward looking down at the girl past Ryu's shoulder as he continued speaking, "If you come with us for the night and obey us though, we might be willing to spare you foxes your lives."

Standing in the distance on top of the building where the pub was located, was a mysterious man with two short slender light blue swords on his back. His hood was up concealing his face as he stared intently watching the events of the scuffle unfold. The giant of a man put his arm on Ryu's shoulder as he started to say with a heckle, "You can join us in punishing..." Before the man could finish his sentence, Ryu pivoted with his left foot toward him. Ryu's arm was cocked back ready to strike as he clinched his fist hard in anger. He used all the force he could generate from his hips to throw the hardest punch possible into the man's nose. The impact of the hit caused the man to stumble a couple of steps backwards as he instantly grabbed his face with his left hand as blood started to slightly flow out of his nostrils. His nose and cheeks were flushed red, and his eyes had watered slightly from the pain. The man was instantly enraged as he swung his right hand at Ryu. Since the brute was much bigger in size, the punch lacked speed. This allowed Ryu to use his naturally fast reflexes that he had developed from playing sports and video games for most of his teenage years in his past life to counter. Without thinking, Ryu suddenly ducked the punch and stepped under the man's guard. He utilized the fact that the man was off balance from throwing the punch to plant his foot behind his back leg. He lowered his shoulder and rammed it into the top of his stomach. The counterattack stopped all of the forward momentum of the thug as he got his feet swept out from under him. He hit the ground hard on his back as Ryu retreated.

The man hurriedly got to his feet as he wiped the blood away from his nose. He was visibly furious after being humiliated in the middle of the city. With one fluid motion, he unsheathed his longsword. He gripped the handle with both of his hands as he prepared to attack. He suddenly yelled aggressively towards Ryu, "You stupid kid! Your life is forfeit for fighting me!" Ryu watched as a faint red glow started to emanate off of the man. It appeared he was activating some kind of magical spell. Before Ryu could prepare to defend himself, the thug swung the blade incredibly fast as if it was light as a feather. It was inches away from striking Ryu across the side of his body as his mind became flooded with thoughts. He wondered if he could dodge the attack or if it was possible to take the impact of the strike. He was certain if he was hit with the sword it would shatter all of his bones. Ryu closed his eyes as he prepared to die again. He wished he had gotten the chance to be an awesome hero like lady Fate. He could not believe he had let the God down on his first day being reincarnated.

In that moment, the shadowy figure on top of the pub vanished from his perch. He suddenly appeared on top of the blade knocking it down into the ground. The tip of the sword slammed into the cobblestone as a billow of wind dispersed from the impact leaving the pavement badly damaged. He had one of his twin blades drawn, and it was centimeters away from the thugs neck. The mysterious stranger had a radiant green aura that was emanating several inches off of his body. It was clear to Ryu his magic was more powerful than the brute. As he stood there menacingly, he started to sternly say, "If I was you, I would sheath thy blade, gather my buddies, and go have a drink at the pub to cool off." Ryu could tell the goon was Flabbergasted from the sudden change of events. It seemed he was very nervous as sweat started to drip down his face. Ryu watched as the thug's entire demeanor shifted from anger to fear. The brute hesitated as he tried to plot a way to possibly fight the twin blade warrior with his party, so they could kill him and the brat. The man with the green aura suddenly pressed his sword into the goon's neck drawing blood seeming to have sensed that the giant was planning something. His voice was empty and full of malice as he said, "I am also fine with killing you and your party." He leaned slightly forward with a vile grin on his face as he continued, "Whatever resolves this faster." The bloodlust from the words spoken was palpable in the air. The thug nervously cleared his throat as he started to say, "You win. We will take our leave." Ryu could tell from the waver in his voice that he was fearful the man would kill him for fun if he continued to stand there.

As the mysterious man stepped off of the longsword, he withdrew his blade from the brute's neck. His weapon remained pointed at the giant ready to strike him down where he stood if he made any motion outside of withdrawing. Slowly, the thug stepped back sheathing his sword as his red aura dissipated. The lackey with the bow that was holding the older fox lady by the arm shoved her towards them as their leader stepped away. The group of men started toward the pub when the giant suddenly stopped momentarily. He glanced back at Ryu as he said with a vile snarl, "You better watch your back kid." As Ryu watched the thugs get absorbed by the crowd, he turned his attention toward the mysterious hero. The man was sheathing his sword as his green radiance vanished. The silence that had fallen over the square during the altercation quickly lifted as everyone began to continue on their way. The mother fox ran over to her daughter as she started to help her to her feet. Ryu could hear the concern in her voice as she started to say, "Macie are you hurt?"

She shook her head no as her mother continued, "That is good. Thank these men and apologize for the trouble we have caused them." Ryu felt there was no need for them to repent, so he quickly spoke up, "I don't blame you guys, so we can skip the whole sorry part. Those jerks are the reason for all of this commotion. I am just glad the two of you are okay." The mother was stunned that a human was being compassionate towards a pair of foxkin as she quickly bowed in appreciation for his kindness. As she stood back up, the two of them started to leave. As Ryu watched them head out of the plaza, Macie suddenly turned around waving her hand in the air. Her cheeks were rosy, red as she smiled and said, "Thank you mister!" Ryu grinned proudly as he waved back glad that everything had worked out.

As they disappeared, Ryu turned his attention to the mysterious hero hoping to express his gratitude to him. He was unable to make out his face under the hood in the dying light as he bowed. Ryu's voice was full of sincerity as he started to say, "Thank you for saving my life, mister. If you hadn't jumped on his sword, I would be six feet under right now." As Ryu stood straight again, he extended his hand toward the man as he continued, "My name is Ryu Seki." The man removed his hood as he stared sharply at Ryu. He had a nimble athletic frame and was about the same height as Ryu. He was wearing a dark green metal plated chest armor piece with gauntlets on his wrists to match. He had tight black gloves on his hands that left his index fingers exposed. His pants matched his handwear in color. It appeared that the man was also wearing plated braces that covered his thighs and shins. His shoes were a dark shade of green, and they were similar to a pair of running shoes from his old world. The man appeared to be in his late thirties from the lines that were starting to appear on his face that you get from growing old. His hair was matte black with one long strip in the front that was white as snow. He wore his hair similar to Ryu as it was shaggy and messy. His eyes were a dark shade of brown almost blending with the black of his pupils.

He looked slightly annoyed when he suddenly answered Ryu, "You must have a death wish kid. It takes a lot of spirit to mess with a guy like that as weak as you are. It is also possible you just have no brain in that head of yours." Ryu felt attacked by the man's sharp words as he quipped back, "I am not going to let an innocent person be attacked and hurt in front of me. For your information, I figured if I could buy some time somebody would help since we are in the middle of the city." The man annoyed by the stupidity of Ryu let out a tsk under his breath at the response. "My name is Jinsoku Tanaka. I am the lead adventurer of the guild for this city. You are lucky I was not on a quest. Do you not have any skills built up to defend yourself kid?" The man asks slightly concerned about Ryu's safety in the future. "I just came to this city from a small village. I have some natural affinities for fighting and magic, so I saved up some money and came to the city to try to develop them." Jinsoku was intrigued that Ryu had some natural affinities for fighting and was definitely curious now. He had been impressed by Ryu's courage and bravery to defend the fox girl earlier as well. The sun by this point had dipped below the sky, and the moon was beginning to rise. Jinsoku was hungry and tired as he backhandly offered Ryu to join him as he turned to head to the inn, "Come on kid." Ryu hurriedly ran after Jinsoku.

As they approached the lodging, Ryu decided to ask Jinsoku a question. "How long have you been an adventurer? I can just tell from your demeanor back there that you are pretty strong." As Jinsoku grabbed the handle to the Calming Inn and started to open the door, he responded to Ryu's question, "My mom and dad were adventurers, and I was lucky enough to have been born with a natural affinity for swordsmanship, dual wielding, and short blades. I have dedicated much of my adult life to perfecting these skills." As Ryu stepped into the inn, he looked around to take in his surroundings. There was about eight tables for dining to the left of the entrance. All the way to the left was a staircase that appeared to lead upstairs where the rooms were probably located. Along the back wall, there was two wooden doors. To the right, there was what appeared to be a service desk similar to a hotel check-in from his previous life.

There were a handful of guests in the dining room when they entered the inn. The table in the back left corner of the room had two men seated at it. They were dressed in nice clothes and discussing business as they waited for their food. Those two were probably merchants staying in town briefly Ryu thought to himself. At the table closest to the staircase leading upstairs set a teenage girl. She had dirty blonde hair that was loosely tied up by a scrunchy and a bunch of light brown freckles on her face. She was wearing a pair of circular glasses that covered her light blue eyes, and she appeared to be completely immersed in the book she was reading. She was wearing a blue dress with white accents around the bottom that ended right above her knees. There was a large scythe that was pitch black in color with three blue crystals separated perfectly apart on the blade beginning from the top of the scythe leading toward the point perched against the table next to her. She appeared to be close to Ryu's age. Before he realized he was staring, the girl looked up briefly from the book. The two made eye contact for just a second before Ryu looked away in embarrassment. His heart was racing. He had never seen a girl so beautiful before ever. I hope she does not think I was staring like a creep Ryu thought to himself. The girl had looked up to briefly check who the newcomers were to the inn. She immediately went back to reading her book uninterested in Ryu and Jinsoku.

Jinsoku gestured toward the service desk, "Ryu go check in and reserve a room for the night for yourself. I will go get us a table." Ryu nodded acknowledging Jinsoku's statement. As Ryu approached the desk, he noticed a small old lady with short white hair hidden behind the desk viewing a bunch of different sheets with numbers on them that appeared to be expenses and income for the inn. He had not seen her when they first came in partially due to the desktop being higher than where she sat behind it. As Ryu approached, the old lady looked up to greet him, "Welcome traveler to the Calming Inn. My name is Rina Nakayama, and I am the owner of this inn." Ryu politely responded, "It is nice to meet you miss Rina. My name is Ryu Seki. I am hoping to reserve a room at this establishment for a couple of days. What are your rates?" Miss Rina gestured toward the wall on the right to a poster below an oil lamp that illuminated it. The rate per night at the inn was one silver coin. Below that, the inn offered a deal that a person could reserve a room for seven nights for six silver coins excluding meals. The last offer on the poster was one gold coin to reserve a room for seven nights with two meals included per day that were served in the morning and at night.

Ryu still had all his money to this point as he continued to stare at the final option on the paper. He was certain it was a fantastic deal since he could knock out his lodging and meals for an entire week. With his decision made, Ryu began to speak again, "Miss Rina I would like to do the third option." Ryu pulled his small sack of money out and untied the ribbon. He removed one gold coin and placed it on the desk in front of her. As she slid the gold coin off the surface into her hand, she began to smile as she said, "Excellent option sir. We have a total of eight rooms upstairs. Your room will be the last one on the right. Let me get that key for you. If you lose it, it will cost you ten bronze coins to replace it. Also, we have two bathrooms through the door on your left side right next to you here. It is a short hallway, and the bathroom doors are on the left. Enjoy your stay here."

She turned to her right retrieving a small bronze key with a tag around it that had the number eight written on it. She handed it to Ryu who smiled before turning around to head toward the table Jinsoku had picked out for them. He was sitting next to the door that appeared to lead to the kitchen. There was a table between them and the merchants and several tables between them and the girl near the staircase. As Ryu started to sit down, a woman who appeared to be in her early thirties with short curly ginger hair that ended right above her shoulders approached the table. She was wearing a short red waitress outfit that left little to the imagination of the size of her bosom. Around her waist was a white apron that hung slightly above the end of her dress. She was wearing red shoes that resembled interlacing flats from his previous world. She was smiling with her hands behind her back leaning slightly forward.

The waitress excitedly said, "Welcome back Jinsoku." Before her voice became filled with concern as she continued, "How was your quest to slay that cursed bear in the forest? You didn't get hurt, did you?" Jinsoku was blushing at this point as Ryu clearly could tell he was attracted to the waitress. They appeared to be close since she was concerned about his well-being. Jinsoku coughed awkwardly into his hand before he attempted to say something manly, "Thank you for your concern, Kasai. You know that a cursed bear is nothing for a top adventurer though. It would be embarrassing if I had got hurt by it." Kasai giggled at Jinsoku for trying to act tough. She then turned her attention to Ryu as she asked inquisitively, "Jinsoku, you brought a friend this time? I did not know you had friends besides me. What is your name sir?" Ryu grinned and politely responded, "My name is Ryu Seki. It is nice to meet you. Jinsoku saved me from certain death earlier in town." Kasai was suddenly troubled by the news. She began to inspect Ryu for injuries. Relieved she did not see any apparent wounds, she said, "I am glad you are okay. It is nice to meet you too. My name is Kasai Hayashi. What happened in town today? Did you go picking another fight Jinsoku, and you dragged this kid into it?"

Jinsoku was hurt that Kasai was scolding him, so he hurriedly clarified, "It was Ryu's fault. The kid has a death wish. He stood up to that new party of adventurers that recently rolled into the city. The big brute leader of the group pushed a fox girl into him in the plaza. I stepped in and saved him from certain death." Kasai put her hands on her hips and let out a huff, "You watched and waited to interfere again didn't you Jinsoku." His face turned red as he began to rub his head with his right hand embarrassed he had been caught as he shamefully said, "I just wanted to see what the kid was made of before I jumped in is all. He was fine the whole time. You know I would never stand by and let somebody get hurt." Kasai was clearly upset by his response as she lightly karate chopped him in his head before saying, "What am I going to do with you. You can be so infuriating sometimes." She turned toward Ryu and bowed her head as she started to apologize on Jinsoku's behalf, "I am sorry you had to deal with such a commotion today. You are very brave to risk your life to help someone in need Ryu." Ryu begun to blush from the compliment as he awkwardly replied, "I was just doing what I thought was right is all, no biggie." Kasai stood straight again before she asked the two of them what they wanted for dinner, "I imagine you are both very hungry. We have two different meals tonight. One is a hearty meat stew, and the other is a steak with vegetables on the side. Which sounds best to you two?"

Jinsoku replied to the question eagerly saying, "I want the stew, please Kasai." She nodded as she turned to Ryu. He quickly said, "I want the steak with vegetables please." Kasai had a smile on her face as she finished writing their requests before she said, "I will get these orders in right away. It should be out in a couple of minutes, and I will be back shortly with two glasses of water for you two." Kasai swiftly turned around and headed for the door to the kitchen. As she left, Ryu turned to face Jinsoku who now had a serious demeanor about him. He proceeded to ask, "What is your MP level and your natural affinities Ryu?" Ryu hesitated to tell Jinsoku. While they were sharing a meal together and he had saved his life, he was worried if informing Jinsoku of his affinity for all skills would be troublesome for him down the road. Ryu knew he was weak though, and that it would be important to get a teacher to train him as soon as possible. Since Jinsoku appeared to be a kind person underneath his ridged exterior, Ryu decided to tell him the truth as he began to reply, "My MP is at one hundred, and I have a natural affinity in all skills." Silence fell between the two as Jinsoku stared at Ryu. It appeared he was determining if Ryu was telling the truth to him.

Jinsoku kept his eyes locked with Ryu's as Kasai set their glasses of water down on the table before she departed back to the kitchen. Ryu nervously took a sip of the water as Jinsoku finally let out a laugh and said, "I knew there was something special about you kid. How would you like to be my apprentice?" Ryu was shocked by the sudden turn of events as he choked on his water as Jinsoku patiently awaited his response. After several coughs Ryu raspily replied, "Should we not know each other a little more?" Jinsoku was now grinning at Ryu as he said, "I know all I need to about you kid. As for myself, I already told you I had a natural affinity for swordsmanship, dual wielding, and short blades. My levels in each respectfully is seventy-two, eighty-one, and seventy-five. My MP is currently maxed at thirty-two hundred. As for the rest, you will get a good up-close look at them if you decide to let me train you." Ryu was momentarily stunned by how high Jinsoku's levels were. He could tell Jinsoku had incredible dedication to becoming powerful. Realizing it had been rude to question Jinsoku's abilities, Ryu swiftly bowed his head and apologetically replied, "I am sorry for questioning your skills. It would be an honor to train under you." Jinsoku waved at Ryu to stop bowing. With a sudden coldness that gave Ryu goosebumps, Jinsoku said, "I have one condition you have to follow though. You can never quit because if you do, I will end your life. If you cannot survive my training, I will save you the time you would waste being killed adventuring. Understand?" Ryu gulped as a cold sweat drop ran down his spine as Jinsoku stared callously at him awaiting his response.

I cannot back down if I want to become strong enough to protect myself and others Ryu thought to himself. As he stared back at Jinsoku, he courageously answered, "I will not quit. I will become stronger." Jinsoku's entire demeanor changed back as he leaned back and took a sip of his water. Kasai arrived just in time with the food and placed it down on the table. The food looked amazing, and it smelled fantastic. The steak was seared perfectly and cooked to perfection. The seared vegetables were an assortment of carrots, mushrooms, and potato chunks on the side next to the steak. The stew had the same ingredients, but they were chopped into smaller pieces and served in what smelled like a delicious broth. Before Kasai walked away, she said with a smile, "Enjoy!" Jinsoku and Ryu in sync replied to Kasai before digging in, "Thank You!" Both began to work on cleaning their plates. The way both attacked their food, outsiders would have thought they were racing to see who could finish first. Only a couple of minutes had passed, but both men were already done with their meals. Kasai came by shortly after and cleaned the plates off the table. Jinsoku and Ryu both sat in silence as they basked in how delicious the food had been. As they finished their water's, Jinsoku suddenly stood up. With a swift pat on Ryu's arm, he began to say, "Time to get to bed kid. Your practice will start before the sun rises tomorrow morning. I promise you that you want to be well rested for what's to come."

Ryu stood up before they both proceeded to head upstairs. Jinsoku just happen to have the adjacent suite from him. As he entered his room, he turned around to face Ryu. With a mischievous smile on his face, he said, "See you in the morning Ryu." As Jinsoku closed the door to his room, Ryu shivered from the ominous tone in his voice. As he entered his own quarters, he started to check out his surroundings. His room had a small bed pushed against the wall opposite the door that appeared to be equivalent to a single mattress size from his old world. To his left was a window looking out into the town with a desk in front of it with an oil lamp sitting on top of it. Lastly, to his right in the corner stood an armoire where he could store his clothes. It was a simple room similar to what a hotel would have minus the personal bathroom. Unfortunately, the restrooms were downstairs, and the only way he could clean himself was to pay the local bath house on the other side of town or bathe in the river outside of the city in the forest. As Ryu flopped down on the bed, he was sure his new master was going to make him regret becoming his student. As Ryu started to think about what crazy training was in store for himself, he fell asleep.
