Chapter 10:
The evening breeze understands my heart
At six in the morning, the city was still shrouded in a thin mist.
Lu Chenzhou stood on the top floor of Chenzhou Capital's headquarters, overlooking the city lights.
The opening day of the C7 project meant that ten years of planning and two months of crisis would be fully revealed today.
He held his coffee cup, his expression calm and resolute.
"Is everything in place?" he asked the CFO in a low voice.
"Yes, Mr. Lu. The final payment from the overseas fund has arrived. The equity pledge plan is fully effective. Shengyuan Group cannot operate directly."
Lu Chenzhou nodded.
"Today is the final blow."
Beside him, Shen Zhiyi was organizing documents. She wore a dark business suit, her face calm, but the light in her eyes was different from a few minutes ago—it was the confidence of fighting alongside Lu Chenzhou.
"Are you nervous?" Lu Chenzhou glanced at her.
She smiled slightly: "Nervous? What I want most right now is to see you win." His lips curved slightly upward, and he gently took her hand: "Then let's win together."
—
At 9:30 AM, the opening bell rang in the trading hall.
On the large screen, the C7 project's stock price fluctuated.
Shengyuan Group's initial attempt to exert pressure was quickly contained by pledged funds.
Market analysts stared wide-eyed: "How is this possible? The C7 shares haven't moved an inch!"
A cold glint flashed in Lu Chenzhou's eyes:
"This is our final trump card."
Shen Zhiyi stood below the stage, her palms slightly sweaty.
The initial tension of the opening bell made her truly feel the cruelty and danger of capital for the first time.
The stock price on the screen steadily rose, each fluctuation like a rhythm to their heartbeats.
At 10:00 AM sharp, the chairman of Shengyuan finally appeared in person, his brow furrowed, attempting to exert pressure through the media and public opinion.
"Chenzhou Capital, how long can this kind of project last?" he asked the reporters, his tone full of doubt.
Lu Chenzhou didn't respond immediately.
He turned to Shen Zhiyi, a hint of a smile in his eyes: "Ready?"
She nodded, a surge of strength welling up within her.
"Ready."
—
Lu Chenzhou calmly walked onto the stage.
The lights shone on his face, his expression as steady as iron.
"Today, I will be publicly disclosing the equity structure and cash flow of the C7 project." Detailed data appeared on the screen, each page clearly organized and logically rigorous.
"Anyone who questions us can verify every single number."
Shen Zhiyi stood beside him, quietly watching him.
At this moment, she saw not only the gentle, intelligent Lu Chenzhou, but also a man capable of controlling the entire situation and protecting her and the project.
A reporter asked, "What about the questions about our personal relationship?"
Shen Zhiyi stepped forward, calm and composed:
"My relationship with President Lu is purely personal. Project design, equity structure, and financing processes are completely independent. I will not let emotions affect my professional judgment, nor will I allow anyone to question our capabilities."
The room fell silent, flashes from cameras going off incessantly.
Her voice was calm and powerful, yet resolute.
At this moment, she was no longer merely a "pawn" protected by Lu Chenzhou, but a true ally standing shoulder to shoulder with him.
—
In the afternoon, the market entered a crucial phase.
Shengyuan Group's stock manipulation continued to exert pressure covertly, causing the stock price to fluctuate dramatically.
But Lu Chenzhou had already activated his last trump card—the overseas fund—instantly replenishing liquidity, stabilizing the stock price, and boosting market confidence.
The numbers on the screen rose steadily, exceeding expectations.
The finance and legal teams smiled after their initial tension.
Lu Chenzhou looked at Shen Zhiyi, his gaze filled with tenderness and the satisfaction of victory: "See, are you alright?"
She smiled slightly, tears glistening in her eyes: "I... I knew you would win."
He reached out and pulled her into his arms, whispering in her ear, "You won too."
—
The trading day ended.
C7's shares were rock solid; Shengyuan Group's manipulation had been completely neutralized.
The entire business battle had reached its climax, and they stood at the pinnacle.
At seven o'clock in the evening, the city lights came on.
They walked out of the Chenzhou Capital building together; the air after the rain was moist and fresh.
Lu Chenzhou gently held Shen Zhiyi's hand, his eyes filled with deep affection: "After going through so much, are you still willing to stand by me?"
She nodded, nestled close to him: "Of course, this time, no matter how big the storm, I won't leave."
Lu Chenzhou lowered his head and gently kissed the top of her head: "Shen Zhiyi, we won not only the project, but also each other."
The wind blew, and in the night, the city lights shone like a sea of stars. Ten years of waiting, two months of storms, crisis after crisis—finally, they stood side by side.
Hand in hand, heart to heart.
At this moment, victory belonged not only to their careers, but also to their love.
And no storm, however strong, could shatter their unwavering resolve and warmth.
