Chapter 11:
Our Little Forever
I cradle a submachine gun in my hand. Now I'm not as much of an gun nut as that one firearms otaku I'm friends with online, but I believe this is an MP7.
The sword is a bit simpler. It's a sword. A pretty damn cool looking sword, but still just a sharpened piece of metal, at the end of the day.
The revolver is...well, I know even less about revolvers, so I can't say much, but it's a big chonker of a gun that looks like it packs a punch.
Guns, armor, and a sword. There's a certain euphoria to it.
"Whoa." As I begin to strap the armor bits and pieces onto myself, a strange feeling of invulnerability overcomes me.
Now, I'm not stupid. I've played enough horror shooters to know that having a firearm doesn't automatically mean victory. But it's a hell lot better than being unarmed. Still, I should be cautious.
I look back at the chat. There's another thing underneath it now. An ammunition counter. 40 rounds in my submachine gun, it says. Infinite magazines, it says. My revolver is the same. Six shot, infinite bullets. I grin, then look down at chat once more.
"THE GAME STARTS NOW"
"Bro just upgraded his aura"
"I told you all he would get better"
"Where is mommy Chisaki"
That's right chat. This is how you should treat me going forwards.
Fuck caution. I'm invincible.
There are banging noises on the outside of the door. It appears the safehouse is safe no longer, but I don't care. I look outwards, and see the door beginning to break down. Confident, I shoot into the door. The door stays standing, but I can hear the sound of a dozen "zombies" go down.
I bite my lip as I feel a strange chill run down my spine. It's like my whole life has been leading up to this moment. No more wiping toilets. It's my time to shine.
The door finally breaks down, but just a single NPC zombie comes charging in. I blast said NPC in the face and it goes down with the same pitiful squelching noise. I laugh manically and unload the rest of the magazine into the zombie's corpse. I laugh a weird laugh, an odd noise I wasn't aware I was capable of making until now, and step outside as I reload. Another hoard coming up the stairs.
"Time to die, motherfuckers!" Out of the corner of my eye, I can see a dozen superchats coming through as I let out a battle cry.
I flip the auto switch of my gun, which somehow, I instinctively know the location of. Despite my limited ammunition, I just have a feeling I can reload fast enough. I now spray into the group of charging zombies, each and every one of them falling to my hail of lead.
A big superchat comes through. 100 dollars, I barely manage to catch what it says.
"Use sword" it says.
Having emptied my magazine, I see that there is a single straggler left, and though I'm perfectly capable of reloading, I pull out my sword and rush the zombie. I hack off it's head with a single blow. I look up to Chisaki, who's watching the entire thing from her podium.
That one zombie I just took down looks like my boss. Well no, he doesn't and they all look the same, but I will pretend he does.
I take down another zombie, which reminds me of that one jackass that beat me up a few hours ago. I hack and hack and hack, before realizing that it hasn't been moving for some time now. I look around to see no zombies.
This is better than any drug. Shame it ended so quickly.
"Are you entertained?" I shout, referencing a movie I have yet to see. I raise my arms up victoriously, and I can see Chisaki grinning from above as she presses another button from her invisible screen. Several weird giant crab looking things spawn, and though tougher, I'm smarter.
Well, sort of. Parthian shot tactics, smart. Unloading the machine gun, not so smart. But I have unlimited ammo and recoil is barely a thing. They take way more bullets than the zombies, and I actually face a few scares as they almost overwhelm me, but I keep running around as the adrenaline pumps through my veins. I raise my arm up into the air after taking down the last crab.
"More! I demand more!" I growl as I look down at chat. They love me. You know what? I love you guys too.
"Ask and you shall receive!" Chisaki chirps, and it's another wave. Mixed zombies and crabs. Crud. The fast zombies demand my attention quick, but the slow crabs move up in the gaps...
I won't say this next one is easy by any means - I have to keep running around to avoid being hit, and I am smacked a few times, but every time my "health meter" starts to get low, Chisaki spawns me a bunch of bandages, which apparently help heal everything. The pain is nonexistent as the adrenaline helps me ignore things, and the bandages are always never too far behind anyways.
"Thank you for the supa OmaeGod!" Chisaki says from her podium. "Please, do keep supporting Hinata, AKA SaekiKatanaBlade! After all, that helps me too~!" She blows him a kiss, then looks down to me.
"I can do this all day!" I yell out. "Give me something real!"
"Hmm, I think I'll give you a breather round instead. I feel like you'll need it."
A chat message to my side asks if I can go for a revolver only challenge. Despite the good damage it does, it's slow to reload, so I hesitate.
"Hinata! You should check chat diligently, but don't let it distract you from the battle!"
Oh fuck, another crab. The revolver hits hard, but I'll have to make every shot count given the slow reloads...
There's a superchat being sent out to my side. I catch it.
"No reload revolver only challenge!" it says.
It's 500 dollars. Someone sent me 500 dollars to not shoot, but smack the crabs to death with my revolver after my...I check my barrel, and there's a single shot left.
But It's 500 dollars.
I rush the crab, getting into close range. A giant claw rips at my shoulder, and for a moment, agonizing pain spreads through it, but I ignore it. I fire a round into the crab, then begin to smack the crab with my revolver. I jump back, evading one blow, but another strikes my calf, and I can feel the pain, but I rush past it. I smack the crab again with my revolver, trading blow for blow. Then, it goes down.
"Aaauuugghh!" I yell out victoriously as I try to stop myself from keeling over. My vision is blurry and I feel lightheaded and cold. I trudge over to the bandage counter. Knowing things, Chisaki has more prepared for me.
Haha, consequences are for losers anyhow!
"THE GOAT"
"He actually did it, the madman!"
Worship me.
"Oh, choosing to take challenges, I see." Chisaki says, with a grin. "Maybe I should start asking for more. It was starting to get a bit boring, after all. Though, I don't think you can afford to take any for this round! Bandages won't help you if you get oneshotted you know!"
I see what appears to be armored personnel carriers pulling up - looks like assets from my dad's other games actually - and several armored men pour out of the vehicles as I scramble to reload everything. They immediately open fire.
Shit, I'm actually suppressed!
"Hey Chisaki!" I shout. "How much damage do these guns do?"
"About as same as real life. What, need my help?"
I peer down at chat.
"I want to see Chisaki fight!"
"HINATA YOU CHEATING ASS BASTARD"
"He was carried by his equipment the moment they start shooting back he squeals lol"
"Kick ass Chisaki!"
"Fuck you!" I wait for the men to grow impatient and try to flank me, which thankfully, two men do, as I manage to pump them full of lead.
"A couple of ours is down! Maintain fire!"
Wait, how intelligent are these things?
"In case you're wondering Hinata, they have an adaptive combat system. Just like real people!" Chisaki shouts from her podium. Chat's going wild.
"Not so easy now, huh?"
"Dumbass."
"I'll show you how it's done." I say, bitterly. I take my gun, and charge out of cover, only to be instantly domed in the head. I fall over as things go dark.
***
"Hey, you okay?" Chisaki kneels over me as I rub my head. "Good thing you had your helmet on! Shame, I thought you were smarter than to charge into fire like that."
"I...I failed?"
"I've already said this to chat once, and I won't say it again, but truth is, that was too much for one person. I just didn't expect you to actually decide to jump in like that."
"Hmmph." I look around. The cracked glass forms of the armored men are lying on the ground. "Did you suspend the program for me?"
"Nope! Sorry you had to miss my action moves, Hinata. By the way everyone, that was done with no cheats! I'm an all natural action hero!" I grimace, as I notice that Chisaki has once again, stolen the scene. Oh great, how are my viewers taking this-
"Hinata can hold the camera lol"
"Chisaki looked beautiful during the fight there, I wish I could have her as my wife"
"Too afraid to ask for help, actual manlet energy"
"You guys were shit talking him earlier and goaded him into doing it."
"So what, he can't take the heat of streaming?"
Fucking losers probably sitting in their basements.
"You set me up to fail again, didn't you!" I glare at Chisaki.
"Hey now Hinata. Chat's going to call you a sore loser. Uh, sore winner? Chat, what do we make of this situation?"
"No." I raise my sword up to her. "I demand a match, just you and me."
"Uh-huh. And what makes you think you'll be able to handle it?"
I falter. Truth be told, the crowd isn't wrong. A wave of self awareness washes over me as I lower my sword.
"Uh..."
Chisaki smirks.
"Fine. I'll go easy on you. But, it won't be easy. How's that? If you win, I'll give you a...special reward." Chisaki winks.
"Wait, actually, maybe this isn't-"
I for a moment, consider it a bad idea, but after another glance at chat, I bury the instinct.
"WE NEED THE SPECIAL REWARD AAAAAAAAAA"
"DON’T BACK DOWN"
"You challenged her bro"
"REWARD REWARD REWARD"
I...I can't deny I'm not curious myself.
"Blushing?"
"Y-your fault!" I shake my head. "Whatever! What if you win?"
"If I win? Nothing. The joy of battle is reward enough for me. Anyhow! No killing one another! I can't fix death! With that being said, anything else goes!" She leans forward, like I'm used to her doing by now. "So, do we have a deal?"
Yeah, I'm not letting it end like this.
"D-deal." I take a few breaths, then ready my gun. "It's on!"
"Oho!" Chisaki says, and as I do, I notice a small chat comment.
"She can dodge bullets vro you are cooked"
Wait, what? Shit, I don't know how she fights-
Oh god!
Chisaki gracefully arcs up into the air with a single leap, twirling like a ballerina. I fire my submachine gun at her, but somehow, just somehow, she manages to land and blocks my rounds with a sword she got from...somewhere!
I barely manage to intercept her sword strike with my gun, which I use to redirect her sword elsewhere as I swap out for a more flexible sword and revolver duo. I fire a shot at her, forcing her to block, then, swing my blade at her, which she dodges.
She's too fast!
Chisaki gracefully skips past me teasingly, and flips past my attempt at another strike. It's like she's operating on a different system altogether. I quickly recover myself, then go in for another strike while she's off balance. I actually manage to nick her hair a little, which earns me a grin.
"Nice going Hinata! Maybe you're not as boring as I thought!"
I don't have time to respond, because she kicks me in the chest, which sends me staggering back. Chisaki stands triumphant as I fall over.
"Giving up?"
"Not a chance." I charge at her again, but this time, I know that won't work. Going everso slightly to the left of her, I intercept a strike, then go past her.
"Going behind me won't work you know~"
That's not what I want to do. Taking a page out of her book, I run to the wall, jump off of it, and do a backflip over her.
Whoa, I actually pulled it off!
For a moment, I catch Chisaki looking shocked, before I land on top of her.
"I got you!" I grin as I press the blade up against her throat. Chisaki seems completely unfazed, and lies on the ground underneath me.
Almost in an alluring way. I blush again.
"Indeed you do." She shifts under my weight. "What do you intend to do to me, Mr. Hinata?"
"Huh?"
"I'm kidding! We're live on MeTube! You can do this to me, you pervert!" Suddenly, I notice that my arm is being held in place my a steel rod.
I...can't move my sword arm-
"Wait, what?"
"For your reward Hinata...drumroll please...is the end of the stream!" She seductively shifts again, and yawns.
"Hang on, that's not a rew-"
"Thankyouforeverythingeveryonepleasesubscribeandthanksbye!" Chisaki says, and to the dismay of both me and the viewers, I can see the world turn white.
