Prologue

The Chess Olympics are an event held every two years where nations from around the world field teams of 4 plus an alternate, to compete for glory. The tournament spans 11 rounds with classical time control. A rest day is always scheduled after the 6th round, with a nighttime party known as The Bermuda Party being held the night after the 6th round concludes. 

This year, the Chess Olympics will be held in Budapest, Hungary, a place very near and dear to the chess community. Though the hotel where all will be staying for the tournament is a resort in of itself, its largest ballroom is unable to accommodate all the players participating. Thus, the tournament will be held a few miles away at the Budapest Arena.

On the men's side, Team Japan has an uphill battle to try and claim the gold, but on the women's side, the team is one of the favorites, thanks to its strong lineup. But strong lineups don't always translate into wins...
