Chapter 3:
Re:Vile -Judgment of the Frail Lords-
Continuing the examination of this—Guild—it was evident the boy started to calm himself. As they walked, the boy’s behavior became more elated with every step. Likely for the sole reason that the party was honestly attractive. Conventionally speaking for most Universes, of course. The boy was in awe of the lovely women that were suddenly in front of him.
It's quite pitiful that the boy is so willing to overlook visible flaws in these young women. Undeterred by their conventional charm. They still appear as if they’ve been working endless hours on a farm, foraging for produce that only grows in the dirt.
Clear filth: tattered fingernails, dehydrated skin, dry sandy mud stuck on their unclean clothes and footwear. The only redeeming quality is that their odor is nothing like a Fox’s, tolerable at the very least. Although, this world is certainly covered in filth. Perhaps these observations are too harsh, thus a way of life for those within it. Notwithstanding, for the boy. These four were goddesses from the heavens above.
“So, uh, Selene? Is the Rebellion close from here? Do you live far?” The boy asked.
“Well uh, we don’t really live anywhere.” Selene mentioned. “With no place to consider a home… We just figured that we can help in the fight, and maybe find a home that way.” Selene explained with a lowly tone, as they walked deeper into the forest.
“To fight what?” The boy quickly asked.
“The Warlock Devil is what I heard they’re fighting.” Bulan chimed in with a playfully haunting tone.
“Really? Something like that exists?” The boy remarked.
“Um, yup. How about you? You had to leave your home, technically.” Luna then changed the topic.
“Well, it's not like I was doing a whole lot. I mean, I had an okay job, and had time to play my hobbies. But now. I’m realizing the weird opportunity that I have.” The boy explained as he looked at his hand with ambition.
“Oh, like what?” Luna asked.
“Well, I guess I have a fresh new start. I think I’ll be able to do some of the things that I was never able to do in my old world.” The boy’s tone grew with high spirits.
“I’d hate to interrupt, but it’s getting dark.” Purnama politely announced.
“She’s right, we’d better set up camp.” Selene agreed.
“Do not worry Mr. Beyonder. Even though it is very dangerous at night, I am also quite strong when the moon is out.” Bulan suddenly mentioned it to the boy.
“Oh, yeah, he doesn't know.” Selene commented.
“Know what?” The boy remarked.
“I keep forgetting that you Beyonders come from a place probably very different from ours. So, I hope this won’t lessen your exciting opportunities, but the night can be a very dangerous place. Like Bulan said.” Luna mentioned as she gathered sticks nearby.
“We’ll probably be fine tonight, but keep your ears ready. You might have to fight some monsters.” Selene explained as she lit a few torches with dark red flames, to then slowly morph into an equally dark blueish-purple. Each emitting a harsh yellow smoke that drifted upward in a perfect line, as if the wind was unable to alter its direction.
“Ma-Monster?” The boy questioned.
“That’s right, but they won’t be too much of a bother. They mostly come out during, or near the Full Moon.” Luna explained.
“So what is tonight’s moon?” The boy inquired.
“Um, I think it's just passed a Waxing Crescent. So we still have a few days before anything real shows up.” Luna mentioned, as she stuck a torch into the ground.
“So, are the colorful torches something special?” The boy observed, as there are eight torches, all spread out into a circle as each transforming their colors.
“That’s correct!” Bulan remarked. “I made the fuel that’s making the color. It is supposed to ward off anything with gluttonous intent.” She continued, appearing to impress the boy.
The boy appeared somewhat worried as the Party finished setting up their small campsite. A warm, yet tame fire pit. They fashioned three spots they plan to sleep, spread out in the points of a triangle. Likely to have improved chances of hearing any potential threats.
“Um, here’s an extra blanket. We weren’t planning on having anyone join our Party.” Selene handed the boy a spare blanket.
“Thanks…” The boy stared at the blanket, he was clearly hesitant to even use it. As it has fine holes, covered in sandy dirt, and likely an unpleasant odor to match.
Feelings of pity soon enveloped the boy. It was obvious that they had little to nothing in their lives. No home, nowhere to call home, and next to nothing to form even a small home. The boy looked around at the others.
Selene was stoking the fire, Luna was studying the map with another equally dirty blanket, Purnama was re-wrapping Bulan’s bandages as she ate some food. The campsite was truly pitiful, and somehow these young women looked perfectly content with their situation. Or maybe, they are simply joyous to have one another.
With the sun slowly fading into the horizon and the Waxing Crescent Moon beginning to appear more visible with every passing second. Laying down on the ground, the boy used the rolled up blanket as a pillow to rest his head. With the attempt to find a comfortable position so he could sleep.
He looked around again: Selene and Luna seemed to have fallen asleep. Purnama and Bulan are close to one another, sharing a slightly larger blanket. They must be cuddling to keep warm, however, the boy notices slight movements from them. It was obvious that the boy was curious; he could only see their backs.
“Ah…” A quick whimper came from the two, Bulan maybe?
“Are you done…? My turn, I want to fall asleep soon.” Purnama whispered, wiping one of her hands on the ground.
Bulan sat up, as her and Purnama scooted around, swapping spots. The boy’s eyes were closed to avoid any potential eye contact as the two moved around. The boy then focused on them again. Eyes squinting to improve his vision, turning his head to hear them better.
“Mmm…”
“Huhh…”
Listening too closely, the boy was shocked to guess at what Purnama and Bulan were doing. Faint whimpers with silent moans. The two were clearly taking part in some form of biological stimulation of their genitalia.
It was more than noticeable that this likelihood excited the boy: finding his own sexual pleasure in the banal activity. The act alone was enough for him to label what they were doing as a type of sexual deviancy. Which is expected for such an immature mind, to then brutishly imagine promiscuous thoughts, just allowing himself to be affected by such small behavior.
Whereas, any experienced observer could quickly understand that this is a small activity for the two: no more than a simple nightly routine that they share. Possibly no sexual desire even attached to the activity—Overtly platonic. A means by which to relieve stress, and unwinding from a long day.
However, it's challenging not to scoff at the action. Furthering evidence to their filthy behavior by ignoring the dirt and grime from the day, just to appease a comforting routine. Simple creatures. Be that as it may…
They appear to be finished: the boy rested his head. Laughably, he looks disappointed.
