Chapter 10:

The Creatures of “The Veil Between the Worlds"

The Roses Bloomed From Blood Bath

“I saw a kid… he had the same eyes as you on the day you left the town to come with a poor excuse of a man like me.” as he sighs.

“Maybe I was selfish and I let my own anger out on someone else. I guess I am not any better than those who hurt someone else for their own selfish morals without realizing it that we are the ones whose morals wrong ourselves and others…” Cor looks at Camlon's body wrapped in white sheet stained with blood and his tears start to fall.

“I am sorry… Camlon I am sorry for not going with you on that dam scout mission… i am sorry”

He sniffs and looks towards the sky again. “Dont you dare die on me kid.”

Meanwhile at the arean, a tall handsome man. The red hair made him stand out from the rest, medium sized hair which were uneven and a bit messy strands that fell around his head and medium-long hair was tied to the back, The hair shined crimson red in bright light, his hair moved with the breeze. He had wide sharp yet gentle gems like red eyes and thin eyebrows.

He had a long wooden sword and clothing was simple, plain and thin showing no sign of armor for defense as if they were just for show rather than protection itself.

His hair all over his face as if he ran just to get here. He looked around and found commotion around the arean.

‘How odd…’ he wondered as he stopped and looked towards the arean to ask people around there about what happened.

The brown-haired teen with a cloaked head walked near him as the red-haired man stopped him. ‘Do you know what happened here?’

‘There was a duel that just went on, apparently some kid in bandages got challenged who is famous around here and defeated the man known as the strongest adventurer of the village. I question the duel itself.’

That kid in a cloak with his face covered, walked away. While his face was completely covered, he thought ‘Isn’t that…’ as he smiled.

While he wanted to talk to him more but he had no time to question and went off running again.

‘They are so going to eat my ears off for this, please everyone dont die.’ thought the red haired man as he took fast steps with his long legs, almost as if he was flying through the air.

‘Interesting for even him to show up’ thought the brown haired kid looking at him running towards the void.

‘I guess I had no need to come here. Don’t die now.’ The brown-haired teen gently smiles as he looks back at him running.

The kid who was gone by now had approached the destination with his fast walking pace. He noticed the string going inside a large black smoke that seemed like a veil covering around like a border, surrounding the large land like a hemisphere.

The white string going inside it, as if it was inviting him inside.

The kids' gut felt something off about it. As he walked towards it and slightly touched it, it felt like nothing existed there.

‘So this is what the voids veil looks like.’ as he walked into the smoke following the sting.

The moment he put his leg inside of it, it felt as if something pushed or pulled him inside the black veil, the terrain inside it looked dead with no signs of life and slightly larger than the hemisphere from outside, the air felt polluted, smoky and weird as he breathed it in, he started coughing.

He looked back and the smoke was almost translucent from inside as he was able to see outside when he was close to it. He tried to step outside but was pushed away by some mysterious force and felt an electric surge in his body when he tried again as if it was trapping him inside. There was no resistance going in but going out was almost impossible.

‘Dam it, I didn't thought i would get trapped’ as he sighs

‘Well I guess it was a good thing I brought my sword. Just what are you trying to lead me to… Death?’ as he looked at the strings

Around him was no sign of life as if the land was deserted and hopeless for life to exist. There resided ruined structures of a small village in the middle of its ruined terrain, and in the center a ray of white light shooting up high at the sky from ground at the center of the veil and string was waving towards it.

As he entered the ruined village as he turned around the corner, his foot hit something.

He looked down and found a malformed humanoid creature but not human-ish. They had overall larger bodies in height compared to humans.

They wore bandages or clothes covering their eyes with some stains on there as if they were made from tears while the nose and ears were missing, just holes remained. The skin looked grey-ish colored, dehydrated and hard. Their flesh was missing around their mouth's skin, large exposing teeth. Their legs were long and their backs were curved with their spine structure visible from behind through their black tatted cloak.

Their ribcage structures were visible from outside like of starved creature but the place where organs like lungs resided were almost as if missing, leaving a hollow space inside there while others had their ribcage opened up outwards like claws from their body looking like a cage.

They looked like a half bloomed flower but one would prefer them staying closed.

The ribcage's sharp bones were pointing towards the front like spikes and their hollow looked like a cage to trap and stab someone, some had bigger ribcage. Their arms size varied, some had large arms while others had small, the length was pretty inconsistent for all. They had overall larger bodies compared to humans.

‘So this is what they meant by creatures almost like they are from other worlds? I would rather pass on them.’

These creatures were known as [Weeping Beasts]

They had clear sharp wounds like they were made from swords. In some distance he could hear armor and sword fighting.

As he went closer to investigate knowing it would be town knights, the string started vibrating violently, as if it was telling it to go in another direction, safeguarding him or dooming him.

While he clearly did not trust it, it might be better to go another direction as the sound was large enough to distract those creatures into going towards them, while it can be safe to be with others, it was also dangerous as they would alert the creatures towards them with their song of swords… or maybe he just did not trusted them with how rough they treated him.

He looked towards the string and said ‘Well i guess i will follow you for now and if something does happens, i can slay few of them to escape to them’

He started following the string and not before long, he encountered creatures on the way, they walked slowly and looked as if they were mindless zombies.

The string got divided into multiple strands, some were ending while others were going on without ending. The kid was easily able to find the path by following the one that was not ending and dodge the confrontation with those creatures easily.

He came across two paths, one was ending at a hiding spot while other was taking over behind the wall. The hiding spot was ending while the other which was wide open from both sides was not.

‘How is the string ending?’ he thought to himself and decided to trust it as it was the reason why he was not caught till yet but also the reason why he is in this mess.

But even in the worst case scenario, there were only two of those creatures roaming around check corners. He hid behind an open wall to both sides. As creatures from both sides were stepping closer to him. One had long arms and his leg hit onto the hiding spot causing the crates to fall to ground as the creature swung his arm instantly at the wooden planks, destroying them like a piece of paper. He held onto the hilt of his sword firmly ready to take actions as the both came closer cornering him on both sides

Surrounded by creatures behind the wall, they stepped closer and they started moving their head towards the kid.
