Chapter 3:

Wonder of U

Deadly Parasite

'As Above so Below'. What does that mean?

Ryuunosuke was struggling to stand, his body seemed to not be able to hold his weight. He had an athlete's physique after all. Or was it just the fear creeping in.

Looking at his hands and legs, Miss Shinomiya could see the shaking itself. It was too visible to ignore. The crows had scared him a lot. In much sense, he was strong enough to not have peed his school pants.

On the other side of the classroom, Shinomiya caught the glimpse of Yuzuha wiping a tear from her face. Hayata was nowhere to be seen. She brushed this aside as her retreating to the lavatory for safety. She will find her later, she always does.

Turning her attention back to girls ahead of her, she moved to help Yuzuha get on her feet, but Toshi Mizuki was already hand in length, and helped up the clumsy girl.

The four of them now stood facing the broken windows of their large classroom. The scratching was still visible all over, but the only thing that their eyes concentrated on, was the scratched in words on the middle part:

"As Above so Below".

Department of Federal Investigations:

Tanaka was moving through office to office, gathering everyone who worked on the earlier missing girl's case. He had to bring as much attention into this so that it doesn't get brushed aside again.

Kaku, on the other hand, was outside the large station, inside a police cabin cruiser, seatbelt on, frequently checking his watch, very much wondering what's taking his partner soo long.

Out the door came Tanaka dressed in a black taxedo suit, as if he was prepared for something else that wasn't good news. Rushing through the large crowd of office workers entering and exiting the premises, he casually opened the large car door and took a seat in the opposite passenger seat to the driver's seat. Staring deep into Kaku's eyes, he said simply:

"Flow it. We don't have time to lose."

Kaku adjusted his seat well, pulled back the gear pad, legs firmly pressed on both the gas pad and the emergency break, he put both his hands on the wheel, and drove off.

In a while, a large crowd had formed in the 3-b's classroom. Having been pulled in by the noises of scratching. Everyone was busy chatting with themselves or outwardly asking around what was happening.

Seichin Minari was pushing through the crowd, managing to pass through, he ran towards his friend Ryuunosuke. His heavy boots noised all over, the mud dirtying the classroom, but he didn't care at all to even change his shoes. He was worried for his friend. He rushed in landing in a compressed hug, holding on to Ryuunosuke's waist and started tearing up.

The cold demeanor he has always shown to Ryuunosuke as his rival had all faded away, what was now left was only a caring friend in time of need.

Outside the rain that started off slowly was rapidly building up. Miss Shinomiya thought for a bit, staring at Minari's affection towards Ryuunosuke and remembered Hayata had vanished earlier. She moved across the classroom confirming everyone was fine, then told everyone to stay in their respective seats for now until they solve what was going on.

Getting out of the crowded classroom, she moved through the dark-lit hallway finally reaching the teacher's staffrooms. Looking around, she noticed that a bunch of the teachers had already gone to manage their respective classes, and those who were here were either busy conversing with the police, and radio stations, Hayata's parents and family members, or simply filling paperworks to arrange meetings with the directory board.

Without wasting any more time, she pulled back; away from the room, and headed towards the girl's lavatories. Hoping to find Hayata there as always. For she knew Hayata had a long history of hiding in the lavatories in the past.

Going across the hallways, she cut through the club rooms and school's cafeteria, moving upwards the stairs and onto the first floor above. After what seemed like a long couple of minutes, she was face-to-face with her destination.

Her hand moved before she could even think. Opening wide the large door, and finally entering through. At this point, her breath came out in loud gasps. She was tired from all the running. Her hands moved to her stomach area, passing her flurry white top, and down to her thighs covered in long greenish corduroy pants. She tightly held the fabric in her hands, squeezing a bit while frantically trying to catch her breath.

After some time passed, she springed at an upstart angle, finally facing upward. Her dark ginger hair flowed back, falling to her shoulders. Her breath slowly calming down, only faint sounds could be slightly heard. Her arms moved up again, and she straightened her attire to appear for professional. Her eyes visibly searching for the retracted Junko Hayata.

In the bathroom hall, she couldn't see any sight of her, so she moved across the stalls, trying to see if she could see Hayata's feet underneath. She moved to the first one, the one closest to her. The pristine door was dirtied a bit by girl's makeups, but still seemed a bit fashionable from all of its suffering. She knocked while calling out softly:

"Hayata! Are you in there?"

Hearing no response, she slightly etched her form a bit, slowly dropping down and checked through the shallow open space of the door's floor area. But only the toilet was visible, no pair of legs anywhere to be seen. So she moved to the next stall.

Knocked and called out the same way she did the first. Again no answer. So she checked downwards. Again, no pair of legs could be spotted. Without wasting another moment, she moved to the third one, and the fourth, the fifth and sixth. Then finally the seventh. In the far distance, only two remained.

On the seventh stall, she heard a faint whisper calling out. She moved to the stall's door and leaned in closer to listen. The whispers slowly dies out and some muffled sniffs could be heard. Then it slowly rose to something that seemed to be crying.

Knowing that her fearful student is on the other side crying from fear, Miss Shinomiya hurriedly pushed the door. Inevitably failing to open it because it was locked from the inside. Still hearing the cries, she called out loudly:

"Hayata! Open up the door. Your teacher is hear. Let me help you. Open up this door." But no response again.

Filled with worry and without any way in, she tried to comfort her outside the stall itself.

"Hayata. I know you're scared. Everyone is. But the crows are long gone. Nothing is going to harm you, or anyone else. The police are on their way here as well. So I'm sure everything will turn out just fine. So just open up the door and let's talk like old times."

Miss Shinomiya lay beside the door, hoping to hear even a slight shift in Junko Hayata's movements, but sadly, only the crying part stopped.

Then caught off guard by the stretching of a strange shadow growing from the stall, Miss Shinomiya thought Junko was moving to open the stall's door. She moved back a bit. But then the shadow kept on growing, and the door seemed to not change a bit. The shadow moved past the stall's door and kept on growing. Covering the entire floor area and finally crept up the bathroom walls.

Miss Shinomiya was left speechless by the growing shadow. Her mouth moved as if she was to whisper to it, but then caught in utter confusion, only unclear words, or what seemed to be, were flowing from her mouth.

On the inside of the bathroom stall, a large goo blob of black liquid was formulating itself slowly to form a physical figure. Many dark hands sprawled from the goo and then a splash sound was produced, loud enough to echo through the bathroom hall. On the stall's floor area, a large pile of goo formed into beautiful legs.

Then the transformation of this expanded upwards. On the sides of the large and dark goo, faces started moving through it and wailing. One managing to finally push through and formed a head. The head grew eyes, a mouth and even a nose. Then clean well-kept black hair flowed through the head and covered the back completely, slightly reaching the shoulder area.

The goo was slowly being absorbed into the body, the stomach part wasn't fully formed yet. As the goo flowed through the back and finally formed the front whole part, ending in the stomach, the stall's door slowly creaked open. In front of Miss Shinomiya's eyes was Junko Hayata, but her body was slowly fixing missing parts of hers, twisting the unfinished parts, like the arms, and finally the fingers sprawled out of the now-formed arms.

Miss Shinomiya's final vision before she fainted from the image she was staring at, was a glimpse of a shiny object slowly being absorbed by the body, and the shadow all around returning to the body.

That shiny thing seemed to look like a camera.
