Chapter 9:
Exotere
Sometime before Boumen's fight.
[Alice's Pov]
“Ugh my head hurts…” I must've been knocked out…
The last thing I remember was a huge explosion from the castle walls. Huh? Oh no… the castle, it must've caught on fire when I was knocked out!
Gotta head somewhere, anywhere! Wait what about Marcella, or Brother, Flare, Dad? Ugh, There's so many people to think about.
Okay Alice take a deep breath… I just gotta find one at a time, there must be someone who can help.
*cough cough* it's been a few minutes of walking in this smoke, it's getting hard to breathe but I have to maintain focus. God if I had wind Exotere I could just force this smoke out of here.
“Help me! Please!”
I hear a cry for help. They seemed to have a boulder on their leg, probably from the broken castle wall. “I'm here, are you okay?” I said after rushing over.
It was a tall man soldier, he seemed to have already taken quite the damage, I wonder what he was doing before this... *cough cough* “Are you Princess Alice? It's an honor to meet you, but I'm not exactly in the best state.”
“Uhm… don't worry I'm gonna get this off of you and you'll be okay!” I say that but I have no clue what to do, I'm not exactly strong enough to lift a boulder off of pure strength alone…
Actually there is something I can do. A few years ago Marcella taught me something.
“Now listen Alice this is very important because I won't be able to be there at your side all the time.”
We were both in the training room with a piece of stone slabs stacking upon each other.
“I thought you wanted to teach me something important, what does a few stone tablets have to do about this?”
“Huehue have you ever seen pressure points in something or someone, princess?”
My eyes widened but instantly sulked down realizing what she meant. “OH, yeah I'm leaving, this is probably some prank you planned just like what your sister does to brother.”
Marcella panicked trying to get my attention. “No, no I'm being serious! Princess please believe me! Actually maybe it's better I show you. Please try hitting this slab vertically as hard as you can.”
I was hesitant at first but I sighed before going to the slabs of stone and lifting up my hand as high as it can go and I slam it down onto the slabs of stone with my fist.
Soon the first slab went *crack* however none of the other stones even moved.
At the time I was disappointed I couldn't break that first slab. However Marcella showed me something really interesting soon after.
“Usually the average adult can break 3 slabs because of the Exotere we gain from birth, and later on as an adult it goes from cracking 1 slab at 11, breaking 1 slab at 12, breaking 2 slabs at 14, and finally when you're an adult you'll be able to break 3 slabs at 16 if they don't train their bodies of course, however…”
“However, what…?”
Marcella put away the slab I had already cracked and merely placed her finger on the center of the first slab. “However, if you can see the pressure point and know just the right amount to push then certainly…” just like that all the slabs crumbled into pebbles with just a tiny little push of her finger.
At that moment I couldn't believe what I had seen, maybe now I can do it in the present… even though I haven't practiced it at all. Honestly I'm not even sure if a few slabs can be compared to a boulder, but that's all I got right now.
I'd take the few breaths I could take from this smoke and would steady my fist for an attack.
Ugh what was it Marcella said, as long as I can feel the pressure point and apply the right pressure then anything can be breakable.
Dammit I can't see or feel anything… What am I doing wrong? I don't have much time either.
“Foolish child.” Wait what was that? No, I've heard this voice before it's godmother. Where is she? In my head?
“Just this once, I will help you with this unexpected obstacle. Open your left eye, child.” With no other choice i had to open my white eye.
“What's this?” I can see the pressure point clear as day. Not only can I see them but I can tell how much I need to press onto each area. Alright, there's no time.
After pressing lightly onto a singular point of the boulder I was able to make it crumble.
“T-That was amazing, Princess truly, thank you with all my heart.”
“Right, uhm let's just get you out of here.” I'd take the soldier's arm as I attempted to carry him while holding his arm.
After a few minutes of wandering around I was able to determine our location. We're on the 3rd floor so jumping out the window is a no go. Why didn't I learn how to fly before this incident… anyways, the hallways are narrow from the fire and the stairs are basically blocked, even if I went down there I'm sure there's gonna be fighting once we get out of here.
*cough cough* “It's okay Princess, you can leave me behind. Soldiers were meant to die in battle, I'll just slow you down.”
“Shut up, I'm not gonna abandon you after all of this.”
The soldier's tears began to streak down his face as we were walking. I felt bad but suddenly he started to smile, I see… so those were tears of joy.
“This is the most anyone has done for me, princess you have no idea…”
It makes me happy to know that I was able to help someone, even during these dire circumstances.
“I'm just glad you can still say things like that when things are the way they are. Well, we still need to find a way ou—” *krrrrrk boom*
“What was that?” The soldier said as the debris that was blocking the way to the stairs was suddenly blown away, probably by some sort of Exotere blast.
Maybe it's help? No, there's a possibility it's an enemy too. Dammit I don't have a weapon on me, what should I do?!
