Chapter 7:
Re:Vile -Judgment of the Frail Lords-
Purnama looked in the direction the voice came from, recognizing that it is Luna’s and must be with the others.
“Are you alright?” Luna asked with concern as she and the others quickly approached Purnama.
“Yeah, but there's a Parasitic Monster controlling dozens of girls. Cassandra just removed one, and her party is trying to save the rest.” Purnama soon explained.
“Ah, we should help, right?” Luna pleaded as her and the others looked at Selene.
“Yea-yeah, that’s the honorable thing to do!” The boy hesitantly agreed.
Selene was clearly unsure of the situation: her eyes showed a slight grimace, telling that she’s primarily concerned for the safety of her own Party.
“Okay, Purnama and I will assist Cassandra’s Party, you three will help Cassandra.” Selene declared.
“Right-Okay-Got it!” The Guild replied in unison.
“And Bulan.” Selene stopped, looking directly at Bulan to relay one more command. “Don’t use any Sorcery!” Selene firmly requested.
Selene and Purnama swiftly charged forward to execute the plan to aid the righteous champions. Cassandra quickly shouted to her team that the three of them will have unexpected help. Taking minimal time to prepare themselves, Selene and Purnama aided one another with incredible precision and teamwork.
Dodging every strike the infected women threw at them, seeing their wild, aggressive movements to counter them accordingly. With each strike they dealt to infected women, it was always with accurate care. Fully understanding the situation and adjusting their combat style. Showing that they have great balance with their fighting experience.
“Kim! Above!” One of Cassandra’s team shouted to the other. Properly dodging an above attack from the infected women.
“Thanks, Nasir!” They quickly showed gratitude, as the two stood back to back.
Both quite large masculine individuals, wielding fairly different weaponry. The one that quickly acted on the warning from their teammate, likely named Kim, with a slender athletic figure. They position a Glaive of sorts, but the blade is tucked underneath their arm, for the goal to not harm the infected women. The one that shouted that warning, named Nasir, with a well built body. They are displaying a still sheathed Claymore: likely for the same purpose.
“Well, well, what’s this?” Nasir remarked with a grin as Selene and Purnama ran up to them.
“We’re here to help.” Weapons drawn, Selene mentioned. “This is Purnama and I’m Selene.” She explained.
“We’ll have time to exchange our names later. For now, if you need to do a ‘call out’, just shout it, we’ll know if you are talking to one of us!” Nasir smirked with anticipation for the awaited battle.
The new formed combat team shot off into action. Sprinting without hesitation at the disfigured faces of chaos they still recognized the delicate nature of the combat needed. Taking the necessary precautions, each strike was just powerful to incapacitate the infected women. Then swiftly piercing the Unnatural Light.
Despite the clear experience the four have, it is obvious the precautions they need to take are also hindering them. Each of them forcefully takes damage from the infected women. Vicious scratches and relentless bites. Instinctual attacks, relatively harmless but can quickly become overwhelming if not confronted soon. Blood from each fighter flowed from their sudden wounds, unwillingly dying their clothes with small spots of red.
The numbers seem great, thankfully, one by one they dwindle those numbers. Each of the fallen infected reacts in a similar fashion as the first one Purnama attacked. Tumbling to the ground, crying in pain as they manically thrashed their limbs in every direction, with one hand tightly latched onto the Unnatural Light as it slowly fades. Interestingly, as they’re numbers closed, the raging fire they possibly started faded as well. The once fearful inferno has returned to a meager camp fire.
Seeing the last infected woman in now on the ground, angrily screaming like the others. Selene and Purnama gave themselves a moment to catch their breaths next to one another. While Kim restraining some of the more energetic infected women, so that they do not harm Cassandra when she removes the Parasitic Monster.
Nasir, hovers over some of the infected women that are motionless. Expressing a face of mourning for the loss of the ones that displayed an extreme infection from the Parasitic Monster. Once the monster died: the cavity from their eye grew three times the size, expanding into their brain and some of their face. Leaving a polished concave obsidian-like pit.
“Cassandra… We… Couldn't save all of them, some were just too far gone.” The one known as Nasir explained, with a clear dishearten expression.
“Nasir, Kim.” Cassandra’s once urgent voice has returned to a natural humility as she smiled, relieved to see her Team were okay. “That’s to be expected, unfortunately. Great work, nonetheless.” Cassandra smiled, with slight dissatisfaction.
With Selene and Purnama is Cassandra’s Team, Nasir and Kim; examining the immobile women. Now able to examine the two new persons, Nasir, Kim. No longer jumping and sprinting about within the forest, there are some additional details accompanying these two men. Firstly, Nasir’s species was also somewhat of a mystery as well, his ears seem similar to Bulan and Purnama, but not nearly as prominently pointed.
Directly under his chin and some of his neck: he displays some unique markings, colored a smokey topaz, not sure if it is a tattoo or something else. An overlapping grid of circles, forming a geometric pattern repeating with equal radii. Wearing only chain mail with tight leather pants. Then the only one that appeared the most obvious is Kim: donning much more relaxed clothing, much more flexible fabric even somewhat loose fit. They have horns much like Selene, likely meaning they are similar species, but Kim’s pair are damaged slightly.
“Well? What’s next?” Selene then announced to the exhausted group.
“Only 22 of 29 were able to be saved.” Nasir mentioned. “We had a couple of villagers come with us to act as messengers, so some more people will be coming by soon to get the girls back to the village and treat their wounds.” Nasir explained.
“What’s the village name?” Selene asked.
“Air Pasir. They were left to fend for themselves, without aid from their Kingdom’s Nobles.” Nasir scolded.
“Hey, we’re planning on stopping through there to resupply.” Selene’s smile returned.
“Well, great! That means I can spoil you five for the much needed help.” Nasir cheered with a brawny beam.
“Oh, I’m sure you would have been fine without our aid.” Selene humbly remarked.
“That may be true, but I mean it when I say, there would have been a higher chance we would have cast a gloom on a lot more families if it was just us three.” Nasir smiled slightly with some pride.
“That’s fantastic, how about the spoiling? All of that rescuing made me very hungry!” Bulan swiftly announced, as Nasir and his team chuckled with delight, with Luna shaking her head with embarrassment. A delightful exchange with newly formed companionship.
Once more, the most prominent description of this world. True Sublimity. Every passing moment, hour, day has yearned to prove that this world is full of fearful entities. This is all for research purposes. The visible fear is comfortably distant from any form of worry. Woefully, that will never be the case for the greatly unfortunate souls to be brought into this vile world.
